Did AR Rahman bribe the Academy officials???

Mumbai, June 01: The year 2009 saw the Indian composer A R Rahman win two Oscars in a row on the same night. That was one of the proudest moments for we Indians. But now, Bollywood music director, Esmail Darbar has accused Oscar-winning composer of bribing Academy officials and of stealing compositions.

At a recent press conference in Nagpur, Ismail Darbar went on to say that A R Rahman did not deserve the Oscars for his score in Slumdog Millionaire. Darbar has gone on to claim to a tabloid that the Oscar winning song “Jai Ho!” is not Rahman’s composition but has been stolen by him.

Madhuri Dixit in Satte Pe Satta Uncertain…

Mumbai, June 01: Sanjay Dutt’s film, Satte Pe Satta remake has been postponed to 2012. Hence, Madhuri Dixit might not be able play her role in the film. The film shooting was supposed to go on floors by mid June.

According to popular tabloid, since, Sanju plays the role of a bad man in the currently filming Agneepath, his look has totally been changed. In Satte Pe Satta, Dutt reprises Amitabh Bachchan’s headlining role and needs to have normal length hair.

Raj speaks up for estranged uncle Bal Thackeray

Mumbai, June 01: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray Wednesday rushed to speak out in favour of his estranged uncle Bal Thackeray after the Shiv Sena chief was targeted by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

Speaking to media persons here, Raj Thackeray said Ajit Pawar’s criticism of his uncle Tuesday was “totally inappropriate and unwarranted”.

Corruption charges on municipal office, circle 8 and 9

Hyderabad, June 1: Mr. Syed Faiyaz social activist has alleged that corruption is on the rise at Circle 8 and 9 of municipal office (GHMC) and people are forced to do the rounds of office for issuance of birth and other certificates.

Harassment is continued by some officials towards citizens.

E-seva centres are also nonfunctional and the officials dilly-dally in every matter.

He demanded that Minister for Municipal Administration and special commissioner GHMC review the complaint and eradicate people’s troubles.

Journalist Dr. Rizwan Ahmed passes away

Hyderabad, June 1: According to the report of Mr. Sohail Anjum from Delhi, famous journalist, former editor of Azeembad daily and former secretary of Urdu academy Bihar, Dr. Rizwan Ahmed breathed his last on Tuesday in Patna. He was 65. He is survived by a widow and a daughter.

Dr. Ahmed was unwell for nearly one year. He suffered from liver failure.

He was a true and honest journalist and always held journalistic principles dear. He also worked for ‘Voice of America’. Earlier he launched Azeemabad Express in which his editorial column ‘mujhe bolne do’ earned good fame.

2G scam accused Balwa wants to depose before JPC: Report

New Delhi, June 01: In a new twist to the 2G spectrum allocation controversy, Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa – a co-accused in the case- has expressed his desire to depose before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probing the matter, reports claimed Wednesday.

‘In our battle for Jerusalem, it is important that we recognize the historic Hebrew roots of the city,’ MK Tzipi Hotovely (Likud), who proposed the bill, told.

Pakistani journalist’s second autopsy conducted

Islamabad, June 01: A second autopsy was conducted here on journalist Syed Saleem Shahzad who was said to have been picked up by the ISI and later found tortured and murdered, a media report said Wednesday.

The second autopsy was carried out at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Hospital here.

Geo News quoted family sources as saying that on their insistence a medical board comprising three doctors was set up and it conducted Shazad’s autopsy.

The report would be released Thursday.

Ramdev sticks to his ‘satyagraha’ plan

New Delhi, June 01: Rejecting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s appeal to call of his proposed fast unto death against corruption, Yoga guru turned satyagrahi Baba Ramdev, Wednesday, said that he will go ahead with his hunger strike from June 4 at the famous Ramlila Maidan in the national capital.

Pakistani Kashmir PM moots joint development fund for both sides

Srinagar, June 01: Sardar Attique Khan, the prime minister of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, wants the Jammu and Kashmir government’s rehabilitation policy for militants to be extended to the entire population of refugees living on the Pakistani side of the Line of Control (LoC).

He also wants a joint development fund to be set up for the two parts of the state.

While appreciating the rehabilitation policy of the Jammu and Kashmir government for the Kashmiri youths returning from his side of the state, Attique said it should apply to 2.1 million refugees as well.
