6,000 MBA seats on offer for students in AP

Hyderabad, June 04: In the ensuing academic year, an additional 6,000 MBA seats will be on offer for the students in Andhra Pradesh that already has 78,000 seats in 971 MBA colleges. The All India Council for Technical Education has decided to permit 10 new MBA colleges in the state this year and to enhance the intake in another 200 existing colleges.

160% hike in Saudi vegetable prices

Madina, June 04: Saudi retailers have raised some vegetable prices by 33 percent this month, which now means that the difference in wholesale and retail prices is as high as 160 percent in some cases.

Cartons of tomatoes jumped to SR199 over the past few months from a low of SR60. One kilogram of tomatoes is now sold for SR4.

The price of pepper is also up to SR60 from SR35; this means that the difference between the wholesale and retail price is now a whopping 140 percent.

Second on the list is lettuce which is sold at SR40 a carton, up from SR30.

Kiran to cash in on Telugu connection

Hyderabad, June 04: The Chief Minister Mr N. Kiran Kumar Reddy will use the “Telugu connection” to realise his target of attracting Rs 1 lakh crore worth of investment in the current financial year. At a high-level meeting held recently it was decided to explore the possibilities of attracting public sector undertakings to the state using the good offices of ministers and bureaucrats hailing from the state.

20 Injured in Grenade Attack at Karachi Hotel

Karanchi, June 04: At least 20 people were injured today after unidentified miscreants lobbed hand grenades at a hotel in this southern port city, police said.

At least four men came to the hotel on the busy Napier road and threw grenades causing explosions and damage to the building, leaving around 20 people injured who were rushed to different hospitals for treatment, they said.

“The condition of three of the injured is precarious,” a police official said.

Hyderabad, June 4: All India Markazi Majlis Ahlesunnat wa Jamaat is organizing a Sunni youth conference for the first time in India at Hyderabad to create religious, educational, moral, and welfare awareness among youth.

Rabies deaths rattle Andhra

Hyderabad, June 04: As Challa Babu pleaded with doctors to save him, the medical staff and his parents watched helplessly. The 16-year-old lost the battle to rabies, a disease that has claimed at least 13 lives in one month in Andhra Pradesh.

These were among more than 13,000 cases of dog bite reported in hospitals across the state, where people are blaming lack of vaccines for the crisis.

People across the state were shocked as news channels beamed the horrific visuals of the boy’s last moments at a government-run hospital in Khammam town recently.

India may get access to Headley again

Washington, June 04: The United States may provide access to Pakistani American David Headley after the ongoing trial of his long time friend, Pakistan-born Canadian Tahawwur Rana, for helping in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Rana is under trial in a Chicago Federal court for allegedly providing support to Pakistan based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) for the attacks by giving Headley cover of his immigration business to scout targets in Mumbai.

HIV infections down by 50 % in India

Minor girl gangraped; four teens arrested

Mumbai, June 04: Five persons, including four teenagers, were arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl for over a month.

According to police, the minor victim told them that she was tortured on at least four occasions, after which, she told it to her family.

The Dadar police station in the suburban Mumbai arrested Mahesh Mane, Hitesh Kalokh and Ashwin Murudkar (all 19-year-old), 18-year-old Pawan Angre and 44-year-old taxi driver Anand Landge on the charges of rape after the victim filed a case against them.
