Hyderabad, June 5: A lecture on Sales promotion and advertising is being arranged by Rahbar-e-sanat-o-tijarat monthly on Sunday, June 05, 2011, at 11 am at office of Rahbar-e-sanat-o-tijarat monthly, opposite office of Hindi Milap, old Kattal mandi Moazzam jahi market.

Mr. Mohammad Shakir Husain will deliver lecture on ‘Sales promotion and advertising’. Mr. Mohammad Siddiq Tahir will throw light on preparation of Vinegar (Sirka), its uses and advantages.

Government has lost mental balance: Mulayam Singh

Lucknow, June 5 (IANS) Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav Sunday said the central government seemed to have lost its “mental balance” and would have to “pay for its action” of cracking down on yoga guru Baba Ramdev’s stir in Delhi.

“It appears the central government has lost its mental balance,” Mulayam Singh told reporters in a press conference here.

Disregard of national anthem in assembly

Hyderabad, June 5: Showing disregard for national anthem is an unforgivable crime but the situation in state legislative assembly became strange on Saturday with the way the national anthem was sung.

At the beginning of the house proceedings as soon as the pro tem speaker JC Divakar Reddy took his seat the assembly staff played the recording of national anthem as per the programme. But while the national anthem was being played the MLAs and ministers were sitting on their seats, assembly staff lowered the voice.

Residence visa a must for Marriage

Sharjah, June 05: Federal Courts are growing strict with expatriates who wish to marry here. Sharia courts are now turning down applicants if one partner does not have a UAE residence visa.

Sources from the courts said it was just a regulatory issue concerning the marriage of expatriates here which aimed at controlling abuses of the federal residency law. According to the regulation which was enforced strictly in recent months, women or men on visit visas cannot tie the knot in the UAE, judicial officials told.

Saudi actress arrested for driving in Jeddah

Manama, June 05: A well-known Saudi actress has been arrested for driving a car in the Red Sea resort of Jeddah, a Saudi news portal reported.

The actress has been referred to a police station for flouting the country rules, Sabq said.

According to the news portal, the actress has played leading roles in several dramas, including “Tash Ma Tash” (No big deal), a popular Saudi Arabian satirical comedy that has been running exclusively in Ramadan since 1992.

Ramdev a ‘face of RSS’, says government justifying crackdown

New Delhi, June 5: Accusing him of being a front for the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS), the government Sunday said the action against Ramdev and his supporters was justified.

“Today it has become clear that he is another face of the RSS,” a combative Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal said in the first official reaction on the forced dispersal of Ramdev and thousands of his supporters from Ramlila ground after midnight Saturday.

Ramdev can continue protest in Uttarakhand: chief minister

Dehradun, June 05: Assuring his government’s support to Baba Ramdev, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Sunday said the yoga guru has “full freedom” to continue his protests in the state after being forcibly flown out of Delhi.

“If he (Ramdev) wants to continue his agitation and protest in Uttarakhand, he has full freedom to do it,” Pokhriyal, who heads a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state, told reporters here.

London, Jun 5 (PTI) Three paintings by M F Husain topped a Bonham’s auction here, going under the hammer for Rs 2.32 crore with an untitled oil work in which the legendary artist combines his iconic subject matters — horse and woman — fetching Rs 1.23 crore alone.

The auction house’s Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art sale represented artists from eight countries – India, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

Engineer held with Rs 1 crore assets

Hyderagad, June 05: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today unearthed disproportionate assets worth over Rs one crore allegedly belonging to an executive engineer of an irrigation project in Mahabubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh.

ACB officials conducted simultaneous searches at different places including the residence of G Manikya Rao, an executive engineer at Priyadarshini Jurala project, ACB officials said. The searches were also conducted at the residences of Rao’s relatives in Guntur, Mahabubnagar and Hyderabad districts.

Rs 2.61 crore for Lakdi-ka-Pul RoB expansion

Hyderabad, June 05: The Municipal Administration and Urban Development department has given sanction to release Rs 2.61 crore to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, for design and construction of approach roads for the proposed expansion of the road over bridge at Lakdi-ka-pul.

The GHMC has already taken up road-widening from Lakdi-ka-pul to Rajiv Gandhi International airport at Shamshabad to avoid traffic congestion. The South Central Railway were requested to prepare the General Alignment Drawing and estimates for proposed RoB widening.

Section 144 clamped near Ramlila ground

New Delhi, JUne 05: The government Sunday banned any gathering around Ramlila Ground, the sprawling venue for Baba Ramdev’s anti-corruption protest that was broken up by police in a midnight crackdown.

Delhi Police said Section 144 — which prohibits assembly of five or more people and holding of public meetings — has been imposed around the area.

Muslim leader seeks caste-based reservation

Mumbai, June 05: A senior official of National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) demanded reservation for Muslims on the basis of caste.

“I don’t say that reservations should be given on the religious lines, but at least by considering the caste,” National Coordinator of NCSC Dr Tajuddin Ansari said here.

He also asked people from the Other Backward Caste (OBC) category to participate enthusiastically in the Census.

“There is no need to hide the caste… this will benefit the future generations,” he said.

Lawyers can practise in all courts including SC: Veerappa Moily

New Delhi, June 05: Fifty years after the Advocates Act, 1961, was enacted, the Centre has decided to notify Section 30 of this Act to enable advocates to practise as a matter of right in all courts, tribunals or any quasi-judicial authority.

This provision was not notified when the Act came into force.

Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily told The Hindu that the long-pending demands of the lawyers had been conceded, and he had passed appropriate orders for notifying this Section early next week.

Riyadh, June 05: In order to curb the unemployment situation in kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Govt. proposes not to renew the residence permit of those foreign workers whose stay exceeds six years.

A decision will be taken soon. The purpose of this proposal is to organize Saudi labour market and also to create an atmosphere of competition among the private companies. The programme of categorization of private companies will begin within two weeks.

Demand to give reservation to Muslims on caste basis

Hyderabad, June 05: Coordinator for National Commission for scheduled Castes, Dr. Tajuddin Ansari said that Muslim Community should be given reservations on the basis of castes. He requested the Muslims belonging to Other Backward Classes (O.B.C’s) that they should not hide their castes.

They should furnish the information relating to their castes to census enumerators without fear. It will benefit the future generations and it will also help the Govt. in framing policies for O.B.C.’s.

Sky remained cloudy in Hyderabad and Secunderabad and scanty rains at some places. As a result of this, heat is getting reduced in Hyderabad. In the next two days sky will be cloudy and it is likely to rain.

The maximum temperature in the city was 36 degree Celsius and the minimum was 24 degree Celsius. Ranga reddy District of Telangana recorded heavy rain. Ibrahimpatnam recorded 9 cm. & Chevella recorded 4 cm rain.
