Mumbai, April 29: After spilling the secret about saving the number of his girlfriends under the pseudonym Low Battery, Ranbir Kapoor has changed his tactic.

A source that had access to his cell phone revealed that Ranbir has nicknames for the girls on his phone. They go by the names ‘Blondie’, ‘Dusky’, ‘Vixen’, etc.

The source says, “He’s a young guy and loves to have his share of fun. Now that he’s not committed to anyone, he’s on a roll.

All his friends keep making fun of him but RK refuses to change his wicked ways.”

SC Rejects ‘Premature’ PILs on Lokpal Bill Panel

New Delhi, April 29: The Supreme Court today refused to go into a batch of PILs challenging constitutional validity of the notification on composition of a committee to draft the Jan Lokpal bill, saying the petitions were “premature”.

A bench headed by Chief Justice S H Kapadia posted the matter for hearing in July.

The bench said, “The petitions are premature and can’t be taken as the Lokpal Bill was yet to be passed.”

“It is still not the law,” the bench, also comprising justices K S Radhakrishnan and Swatanter Kumar said.

Woman sues Saudi govt. for vote ban

Jeddah, April 29: In a rare protest to Saudi electoral system, a woman has filed a lawsuit against the government for keeping a ban on women taking part in polls in the monarchy.

Samar Badawi said she filed the suit at the administrative court in Mecca against the municipal affairs ministry for denying women the right to register as voters for the municipal election.

Women demand an “immediate end to all preparatory measures related to the elections until a verdict is reached in this lawsuit,” she was quoted as saying by Media on Thursday.

Match-fixing is common in SL

Colombo, April 29: Dropping a bombshell, former Sri Lanka skipper Hashan Tillakaratne has claimed that match-fixing is common in his country since 1992 and promised to reveal names of those involved, soon.

Tillakaratne, who played 83 Tests and 200 ODIs for Sri Lanka, made the sensational claim while appearing in a TV show.

“I can tell this in agreement with my conscience. Match fixing is not something that started happening yesterday or today. According to my knowledge, it happened since 1992. I say this with great responsibility,” Tillakaratne said.

Convicted prisoner escapes from Cherlapally jail

Hyderabad, April 29: A convicted prison escaped from the high security Cherlapally jail of the city here on Thursday.

According to details, Ayub Khan hailing from Nalgonda district was imprisoned in Cherlapally jail after he was pronounced life sentence in a murder case in the year 2007.

Thursday morning Ayub Khan went out of jail with the jail staff to work in the garden. When the prisoners were counted in the evening it was found that Ayub Khan was missing.

Jail staff tried to search for him but in vain.

Bahrain sentences four men to death for killing two policemen

Bahrain, April 29: A Bahraini national security court has sentenced four men to death for killing two police officers during the pro-democracy protests that were crushed by the authorities last month.

The sentences are likely to deepen divisions between Bahrain’s Shia majority, which has been demanding greater political and civil rights, and the Sunni monarchy, backed by Saudi Arabia and the Sunni-dominated Bahraini security forces.

A further 400 people who have been detained are expected to be prosecuted, according to the state news agency.

London, April 29: Five Sharia courts in Britain now have “official” powers to rule on Muslim civil cases, according to a report.

The rulings made by the five courts in London, Birmingham, Bradford, Manchester and Nun-eaton in Warwickshire are enforceable with the full power of the judicial system, through the county courts or high court, according to the Sunday Times. The issues that the “official” Sharia courts can rule on range from financial rows to divorce and domestic violence.

Failed Intermediat student hangs self

Hyderabad, April 29: Hours after the Intermediate second year results were announced on Thursday, a student of Sri Chaitanya Junior college committed suicide in his residence at Jeedimetla after he came to know that he failed in the exam.

Jeedimetla police said that B Ravi Teja hanged himself to death when his family members went out.

Teja, an MPC student, after checking results, found that he failed in Maths paper II.

Hyderabad, April 29: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today trapped a Bill Collector when he was allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 in neighbouring Ranga Reddy district.

B Ramaiah was caught when he demanded and accepted the bribe for doing an official favour of collecting property tax on a renovated building of the complainant at old rates, an ACB release said here.The case is under investigation.

SIT summons 12 accused policemen:Ishrat case

Ahmedabad, April 29: In a major turn of events, the Special Investigative Team (SIT) probing the infamous Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case, on Friday summoned twelve police officers accused in the case.

The officers summoned by the SIT include Deputy Superintendent of Police Tarun Barot, GS Singhal, PP Pandey and KR Kaushik. It should be noted that Barot and Singhal had previously appeared before the SIT in March.
