Mumbai, February 02:In a major boost to the 2008 Malegaon blast probe involving radical Hindu outfits, the Maharashtra ATS has arrested a key accused, Praveen Mutalik, from Karnataka, who dodged the police for over two years.
Praveen Venkatesh Takalki alias Praveen Mutalik was picked from Gokak town in Belgaum district of Karnataka late last night, Anti-Terrorism Squad chief Rakesh Maria said.
Mutalik, a member of Abhinav Bharat, was produced before a Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) court which remanded him in police custody till February 14.

Hyderabad, February 2: Demanding that the Centre introduce “Separate Telangana Bill” in Parliament in the ensuing Budget Session, the advocates in the Nampally Criminal Courts boycotted the courts on Tuesday.
There were heated exchanges and clash between the police and advocates on the court premises. In the melee, two police constables suffered injuries.
Accusing the police personnel of behaving with them rudely, the advocates demanded that the government suspend the ACP, Mr Muralidhar, immediately.

JEDDAH, February 2:: Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior Prince Naif on Tuesday announced a series of measures to tackle Jeddah’s recurrent floods. He said international companies would be awarded contracts to establish a state-of-the art rainwater drainage system for Jeddah.
Prince Naif made this statement after presiding over a meeting of the ministerial committee that was set up by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah following the devastating Jan. 26 floods. Earlier he inspected the flood-hit areas in various parts of Jeddah traveling on a helicopter.

Chittoor, February 2: One person is believed to have been trampled to death and 15 others injured when a herd of wild elephants ventured into villages on the border of the state with Karnataka in Chittoor district, destroying nearly 100 acres of sugarcane, paddy and vegetable crops.
However Kuppam Sub-Inspector Sai Prasad said that the news of the death of the man is yet to be verified.
The wild elephants, said to be about 40, had ventured into the agricultural fields from Karnataka early on Tuesday and were at present cooling off in the Lakshmipuram Lake in Kuppam mandal.
