Jagan to walk for Polavaram from Feb 7

Hyderabad, January 29: After the turn of Praja Rajyam Party, now it is the turn of former Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy to agitate on Polavaram Irrigation Project.

Talking to media persons, former minister and staunch loyalist of Jagan, Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose said Mr Jaganmohan Reddy will begin his Polavaram Padayatra at Ravulapalem in East Godavari district. The three-day rally will begin on February 7.

TRS turns violent, Racha Banda nominal

Hyderabad, January 29: The fifth day of Racha Banda also took a violent turn with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi supporters taking their opposition to the streets on Friday.

In Nalgonda district, 16 vehicles were damaged and a DSP was hurt in the stone-pelting though the police was in full force. Similarly, in Warangal district TRS men made their presence felt despite
police forces deployed.
In Devarkonda, Nalgonda district, the TRS violence was stepped up in such a way that police had resorted to bursting tear gas shells to disperse the angry mobs.

Ravi Teja’s brother apologizes to media

Hyderabad, January 29: Tollywood hero Ravi Teja’s brother Bharat has apologized to the media for being rude towards them.

Talking to the media at a press conference called by him on Thursday evening, Bharat said he would not again be rude with the mediapersons. He said that he has great respect for the media.

Bharat, who went to the police station in connection with the drug case, scolded mediapersons who tried to talk to him.

As his rude behaviour was talked about in the industry, he hurriedly called a press conference to apologize to the media.

Govt. to digitalise priceless ancient manuscripts

Hyderabad, January 29: The state government has plans to digitalise the scripts or other ancient records to spread across the importance of the ‘message’ to the people.

Efforts are on to secure, preserve and then disseminate that valuable information for the benefit of the people, particularly the local and foreign scholars.
“Preservation of priceless manuscripts by digitalisation them is one of our efforts to pay tributes to those who had tirelessly worked to impart the ‘knowledge’, Minister for Archives and Tourism Vatti Vasanth Kumar told media persons at the Secretariat on Friday.

20 TRS workers held for obstructing minister Saraiah

Warangal, January 29: Some 20 TRS workers were arrested when they tried to obstruct the Minister for Backward Classes, Mr Baswaraju Saraiah, when he went to Rangasaipet to participate in the ‘Rachchabanda’ programme.

Tension prevailed for a while when Congress workers entered into a heated argument with the TRS men.

Secretariat employee commits suicide

Mantralayam (Kurnool), January 29: An employee of the State Secretariat committed suicide here on Thursday. He was found to have committed suicide by hanging.

According to the information, the deceased Seshaiah, 26, who was working as ASO in the Home Department, has written in his suicide note that he was ending his life as he was unable to withstand the pressure of his work.

3 die as lorry plunges into Godavari

Rajahmundry, January 29: Three persons were killed on the spot and five other sustained injuries when a lorry plunged into the River Godavar in East Godavari district in the wee hours of Friday.

The driver, who lost control on his vehicle, jumped into River Godavari near Jonnada bridge in East Godavari on the wee hours of Friday.

According to police Jonnada SI P Venugopal, the victims have been identified as Namadi Dorlaiah (45) and P Venkataramana (27) hailing from Vanapalli in Kothakota mandal and K Veeramshetty (55) a lime merchant from Ravulapalem.

Chiranjeevi says media targeting him

Anantapur, January 29: The Praja Rajyam party president, Mr K. Chiranjeevi, has lamented that a particular section of the media was targeting him and spreading malicious propaganda against him.

Talking to the media here on Friday, the former megastar said that he did not understand what mistake he had committed for the media to particularly target him. He said he did not understand their agenda.

Stating that he had no craze for power, Mr Chiranjeevi said that all those who work for public good were his friends.

2.5-tonne drug haul nets 14
in Sharjah

Sharjah, January 29: The Sharjah police have smashed an international drug smuggling ring and seized 2.5 tonnes of hashish from 14 men who were planning to smuggle the contraband across the Eastern coast of the UAE.

The 12 Iranian and two Pakistani suspects were arrested by a squad code-named the ‘Eastern Wind’ late on Wednesday in the second biggest haul of drugs in recent memory.

No religion preaches terror: Rahul Gandhi

Mumbai, January 29: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi Saturday condemned terrorism in all forms and said no religion preaches “killing of innocent people”.

Addressing a media conference here on the final day of his three-day trip to Maharashtra, Gandhi said that religion and terrorism had no connection.

“I have not come across any religion which preaches violence or killing of innocent people. Terrorists kill innocents and I strongly condemn it,” declared Gandhi, who lost his father Rajiv Gandhi to a terror attack in Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu in 1991.

Football matches postponed in Egypt for security reasons

Gaza Children ‘at Risk’ Near Border

Gaza, January 29: Children in Gaza are coming under regular gunfire from Israeli soldiers while scavenging in the ruins of buildings bombed during the Israeli invasion of Gaza in 2009, a new Save the Children report has warned.

Twenty-six children were shot by Israeli troops close to the border last year, according to the UNICEF-led working group on children affected by armed conflict.

That number includes 16 children who were shot outside the Israeli-imposed ‘exclusion zone’ that extends 300m into Gaza.
