Siasat Talent Search Examination held at 40 centres across the state

Hyderabad, November 29: 13th annual Siasat Talent Search Examination was held successfully yesterday at 40 centres across the state. Nearly 1300 students of SSC, CBSC and ICSC appeared for the exam. Students had a great excitement for the exam.

Examination authorities were heartily thankful to the Siasat daily and MS Education Centre and its staff for extending their cooperation in conducting the exam across the state.

Director MS Education centre Mohammad Moazzam Hussain expressed his hearty thanks to the Saisat daily and its reporters.

Cutlery shop burned to ashes at Afzal Gunj

Hyderabad, November 29: In a fire mishap a cutlery shop burned to ashes in the busy area of the city. The accident took place at 10 o’clock at night when the locals sighting smoke coming out of Royal Cutlery shop located at Afzal Gung informed fire brigade staff.

Soon after that three fire engines reached the site and put off the fire in about two hours.

Afzal gunj police told that the shop might have caught fire due to short circuit. Police has registered a case in this connection.

Saudi king fine, starting post-op therapy: Health minister

Riyadh, November 29: Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah is in good shape and has begun physical therapy following his operation for a herniated disc, Health Minister Abdullah al-Rabeeah has said.

“I would like to assure all the people of Saudi Arabia that the (king’s) health is very reassuring,” Rabeeah told the state news agency SPA.

“He has begun a programme of physical therapy and rehabilitation as recommended by his doctors,” he said.

Water Board MD makes surprise visits to Old City

Hyderabad, November 29: Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board managing director M Jagadeeshwar made surprise inspections in different localities of the Old City and checked the residual chlorine levels in the municipal water being supplied there.

At the Balapur Section, he verified water supply timings and sewerage plans. He instructed the officials there to immediately provide daily water supply to 2,500 connections in the section.

China to select new site for moon rocket launch

Beijing, November 29: China is considering launching rockets from a new site for the next phase of the country’s lunar exploration programme because of transportation problems, the programme’s top scientist has said.

China had launched its second unmanned lunar probe, Chang’e-2, from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in Sichuan province Oct 1.

Now, authorities are considering a launch from the Hainan Island province, the Shanghai Daily reported Monday citing the Beijing Times.

Pakistani woman’s nose cut-off by in-laws

Islamabad, November 29: A Pakistani woman’s nose was cut off and her head tonsured by her in-laws who then locked her up for three days because they suspected her of having an affair with a neighbour, police said.

The incident took place in Gujranwala in Punjab province.

Aasiya Bibi’s brother-in-law Anwar, his wife Kalsoom and sons Waqas and Awais caught hold of her and cut off her nose and shaved off her head, alleging that she had an illicit relationship with a local man.

Tata may move SC against leakage of Radia tapes

New Delhi, Novmeber 29: Critical of the “unauthorised” release of tapes of his conversation with PR consultant Niira Radia, the USD 73 billion Tata group chief Ratan Tata may move the Supreme Court tomorrow to seek action against those behind the leakage.

Tata may invoke Article 32 of the Constitution, claiming that his Right to Life, which includes right to privacy, has been breached by the leakage of these tapes.

Under Article 32, any person who feels that his fundamental rights are violated can straightaway move the highest court of the country seeking redressal of the grievance.

‘STL turns blind eye to murderous Israel’

Gaza, November 29: Hezbollah has accused the US-backed UN tribunal, investigating the assassination of the country’s former premier, of disregard for Israel’s role in the murder.

‘Firm sold Israel torture instruments’

Jerusalem, November 29: A Danish-British security company has sold torture instruments to the Israeli prisons, holding Palestinians inmates, a Danish newspaper has written.

The firm, named G4s, sells the devices to the detention facilities in the occupied West Bank, which provide the necessary means for torture of the Palestinian prisoners, Berlingske Tidende reported on Nov. 23.

Tehran, November 29: A senior Iranian commander describes the remarks of US joint chief of staff about the possibility of military action against the Islamic Republic as a joke.

Hacker attack crashes Wikileaks website

Berlin, November 29: An apparent hacker attack crashed the Wikileaks website Sunday, just as 250,000 leaked US diplomatic despatches were being made public, but news media sites carrying edited versions of the cables remained operational.

The www.wikileaks.org domain was brought down by a method known as distributed denial of service (DDoS), in which a huge number of computers repeatedly demand web pages from the server, shutting out ordinary human users and causing the server to jam.

There was no indication Sunday who might have mounted the attack.
