Kiran Kumar Reddy warns corrupt, lazy officials

Hyderabad, November 27: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today warned corrupt and lazy officials to mend their ways or face the music. He made it clear that corruption and inefficiency will not be tolerated and said that plum postings would be assured only after the officers proved their efficiency.

Addressing a special meeting with the officers of All India Services at the Lake View Guest House today, Kiran Kumar Reddy said he had the list of corrupt officers in the administration and asked them to mend their ways.

Pratibha Patil arrives in Damascus on four-day Syria visit

Damascus, November 27: President Pratibha Devi Singh Patil has arrived Damascus yesterday on a four-day visit to Syria. She was received by Syria’s senior minister for presidential affairs Mansoor Azam. President will stay here from November 26 to 29. She is the first head of the Indian state to visit Syria. Pratibha Patil had started her 9 day long tour of west Asia on Sunday.

India, Sri Lanka now understand Tamil ethnic issues: Lankan daily

Colombo, November 27: Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna’s visit to Sri Lanka is drawing plenty of media interest in the island nation, with a leading daily Saturday saying that political leaders have now begun understanding Tamil militancy and the ethnic issues that affect both countries.

The article in Sri Lanka’s Daily Mirror newspaper by M.S.M. Ayub also said it was “interesting to note that his (Krishna’s) visit has been scheduled at a time the Sri Lankan leaders are preparing to welcome Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari”.

Jagan violating party discipline, says Jaipal Reddy

Man fathered 10 children with own daughter

Buenos Aires, November 27: An Argentine woman has accused her father of sexually abusing her for 30 years and having 10 children with her, including one who killed himself after learning that his grandfather was his father.

Elvira Gomez, 43, did not report the alleged abuse until her father, Armando Gomez, was recently arrested for robbery.

The foreigners arrested included Africans and South Asians, and one woman was among the suspects, he said.

Riyadh, November 27: Saudi Arabia has arrested 149 people from 19 cells linked to Al Qaida over the past eight months and foiled attacks against government and security officials, the interior ministry said.

“In the past eight months 149 people linked to Al Qaida were arrested, among them were 124 Saudis and 25 were from other nationalities,” interior ministry spokesman Mansour Turki told a news conference . The non-Saudi suspects were Arabs, Africans and South Asians, he said, adding that the thwarted cells had links to Al Qaida in Yemen, Somalia and Afghanistan.

Pak Muslims warn of anarchy if Christian pardoned

Lahore, November 27: Pakistani Muslims threatened protests and anarchy if the government pardons a Christian mother sentenced to death for blasphemy, calling hundreds of demonstrators onto the streets on Saturday.

Demonstrators marched in the eastern city of Lahore after the most influential Sunni Muslim alliance in Pakistan urged the government not to grant mother-of-five Aasia Bibi clemency.

A crowd of several hundred called for “Jihad” and pledged to sacrifice their lives to protect the honour of the Prophet Mohammad, a reporter said.

Asimanand in 7 days CBI custody for interrogation

Hyderabad, November 27: An accused of Makkah Masjid bomb blast occurred on May 18, 2007, was given in CBI custody for seven days by a local court here.

CBI wanted 15-day custody of the Swami but the additional chief metropolitan magistrate directed CBI to interrogate Asimanand for seven days beginning on Saturday.

Absconding Swami whose real name is Naba Kumar Sarkar was arrested on November 19 in Haridwar in connection with the blasts occurred at Makkah Masjid. Altogether 9 persons were killed and several others injured in the blast and police firing that followed it.

“Shah Rukh’s strength is the way he talks and he also romances in a very charming way in his films.

So, I asked him to share some tips with Shoaib and teach him a few romantic lines so he would talk more. It was all done in good humour and Shah Rukh was pulling our leg all through the act,” said Sania.
