State To Try Babli Solution In & Out Of Court-CM

Hyderabad, August 04: The Chief Minister, Mr K Rosaiah on Tuesday informed that the State Government would try for a solution to the Babli project controversy in the court and outside the court.

He also said that the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh has asked Mahatrshra Chief Minister Mr Chavan to abide by the Supreme Court interim order and directed the Water Resources Minister, Mr Bansal to furnish the details of 13 projects taken up by Maharashtra on Govadari, to Andhra Pradesh. He also expressed satisfaction over the attitude of the Prime Minister on the issue.

Hyderabad, August 04: She also said that the high command suspended the PCC general secretary Mr Ambati Rambabu just because he was a strong loyalist of Mr Jagan. She urged the high command to re-consider the suspension of Mr Rambabu and asked whether it was a mistake in being a loyalist of Mr Jagan. It was not proper to the party to suspend Mr Ambati with out taking his explanation.

Mumbai, August 04: The buzz doing the rounds in tinsel town is that Sonam Kapoor has refused to kiss her co-star Shahid Kapoor in the latter’s dad Pankaj Kapur’s film Mausum.

Sonam along with Shahid Kapoor have been shooting the film in Scotland.
As the shooting was about to end, Pankaj kapoor came up with the idea of a steamy kissing scene between Shahid and Sonam. There are rumours that it was Shahid who proposed this idea to his dad. However, Sonam point-blank refused to do the scene, as it wasn’t a part of the original script.

US still concerned about A.Q. Khan network

Washington, August 04: Possible revival of the A.Q. Khan run nuclear-smuggling network is an area of ongoing concern for Washington even as Islamabad claims the notorious Pakistani scientist is out of business.

“Obviously, the A.Q. Khan network has – or is responsible for some of the most serious cases of proliferation in recent decades,” State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters Tuesday when asked to comment on an article in the Washington Times.

“We have worked intensively with Pakistan and other countries to shut down that network,” he said.

Rajdhani Express engine catches fire, passengers safe

Lucknow, August 04: A fire broke out in the engine of a Rajdhani Express on the outskirts of this Uttar Pradesh capital Wednesday, disrupting the busy Sultanpur-Lucknow rail route, officials said. No injury or casualty was reported.

The engine of the New Delhi-bound Guwahati Rajdhani Express caught fire near the Rehmatnagar railway station, about 40 km from here.

Ahmedabad, August 04: Fresh details likely to further embarrass the BJP government in Gujarat on the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter show that even four months after he was killed, the Narendra Modi government maintained that he was a petty criminal.

In reply to a question asked in the state assembly on 20 March, 2006, the Gujarat government made no mention of Sheikh’s alleged terror links. He was killed in November 2005.

Psychiatrist had sex with patient ‘to defuse tension’

London, August 04: A London psychiatrist had sex with a female patient and then told her it had to happen to “defuse” the tension between them, the General Medical Council has heard.

The woman said her mental health deteriorated after the alleged encounter with Dr Theodore Soutzos while a hospital in-patient. She attempted suicide a number of times and felt stressed by his warnings that she must not tell anyone, a fitness to practise panel was told.

UAE to release 724 prisoners ahead of Ramadan

Abu Dhabi, August 04: In a humanitarian gesture ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the release of 724 prisoners.

Sheikh Khalifa also pledged Monday to incur all the prisoners’ debts and financial commitments that ensued from the cases against them in the courts.

Hezbollah chief praises Israeli border clash as ‘heroic’

Beirut, August 04: Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah described Tuesday the lethal border clash between the Lebanese army and the Israeli troops earlier as “heroic”, and warned his militia would retaliate if there were further incidents.

At least two Lebanese soldiers, and an Israeli soldier, and a Lebanese journalist were killed in the exchange of fire. It was the most serious clash since Israel and Hezbollah guerillas fought a bitter war in 2006.

Mumbai, August 04: Actor Ajay Devgn, who took Bollywood by storm with his jaw-dropping stunts in the 1991 film “Phool Aur Kaante”, believes shooting action sequences has become far easier and less bruising in today’s films. He, however, admits that he is out of practice.

“Now action has become easier. Earlier, we used to get injured, break legs and hands. Now so much of security and protection is given that it has become much easier,” Ajay told IANS in an interview.

Beijing, August 04: Micky Mouse, AristoCats and other cartoon charecters have now got a new job to teach kindergarten tiny tots in China how to speak English.

English learning centres run by the US-based cartoon movie maker Walt Disney Company are open for children between the age group of five and seven years.

A large number of children attend classes where they imitate American accent shown by characters such as the AristoCats, Mickey Mouse and Snow White, according to China Daily.

PC likely to announce concessions for Kashmir

Srinagar, August 04: Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram is expected to announce some soft measures for Jammu and Kashmir when he makes a statement in parliament Wednesday, an informed source said.

The discussions were held Monday and Tuesday and more would be held Wednesday before Chidambaram’s statement in parliament. Some of the discussions included central government’s actions to restore peace and order in the state, said the source, who is in know of what may form the core of the statement.

Washington, August 04 The United States says Pakistan started to take more direct action against terrorist safe havens in its territory after extremists tried to move on to its capital, but unquestionably Pakistan needs to do more.

Non-stop 32-hour yoga sets Guinness record

Toronto, August 04: A Canadian yoga teacher Tuesday claimed to have created a Guinness record by performing yoga non-stop for 32 hours.

The current Guinness Record of marathon yoga is 29 hours and four minutes.

But yoga instructor Yasmin Fudakowska-Gow, 28, Tuesday claimed that she has completed her 32-hour yoga marathon at her Om West yoga studio in Pointe Claire Village on the Island of Montreal.

Tech-support steals naked pics of US woman’s

Mumbai, August 04: A Sacramento-based woman, Tara Fitzgerald, is threatening to sue Dell as she says that a tech support engineer in Mumbai, Riyaz Shaikh, downloaded naked pictures of her during a tech-help call when she gave the Indian techie permission to access her Dell laptop remotely.

Barely a month after the call, Fitzgerald said 16 nude photographs of her pinched from her laptop appeared on a lurid website christened Bitchtara.

“I’ve been violated. My life’s been violated,” Fitzgerald, a mother of a 14-year-old girl, told.

Demolish illegal encroachments: Ashok Chavan

Mumbai, August 04: The politician-police-bureaucrat nexus is thwarting Mumbai’s image makeover plan, chief minister Ashok Chavan said.

Directing the civic authorities to launch a demolition drive against illegal encroachments across Mumbai, he asked them to expose the nexus.

“You immediately start the demolition drive and I will ensure government support. There will be no compromise on law enforcement,” Chavan said at an hour-long meeting on Tuesday with top bureaucrats of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
