New Delhi, July 07: Emraan Hashmi is very happy acting and, unlike other stars, says he will not move an inch away from front of the camera to take on responsibilities of directing or producing films until he’s booed out by audiences.

“Not at the moment. I’ll act till the audiences kick me out or boo me out from the halls, saying we don’t want to watch this man’s movies’ any more…I’ll think about doing something else then,” Emraan told IANS.

New Delhi, July 07: Twenty-seven people were detained at Indira Gandhi International airport on Tuesday putting rest to fears of a possible plane hijack sparked after anonymous phone call to call centres of two airlines warned some passengers, travelling on fake travel documents, might attempt to hijack a Dubai-bound flight.

Saudi women threatened to breastfeed their drivers

Riyadh, July 07: The anti-Islamic elements seems to have busy in tarnishing the image of Islam. In responce to the Saudi Cleric Fatwa against driving by women. A group of indecent Saudi women have threatened to breastfeed their drivers if they are not granted the right to drive their own cars.

They related driving fatwa to Saudi cleric’s fatwa calling upon women to give breast milk to ‘unrelated’ men so that they could establish a ‘maternal’ bond with them and thereby avoid ‘ illicit’ mixing between the sexes.

Jagan itching to resume yatra

Hyderabad, July 06: Son of the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy and Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy today made it clear that he will resume his Odarpu tour from Itchhapuram in Srikakulam district on July 8, which happens to be his father’s birth anniversary.

In an “Open letter to the people” on Monday, Jagan claimed that his yatra was apolitical and was intended to console the families of those who had died of shock following the untimely demise of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Bandh hits normal life

Hyderabad, July 06: Normal life in the twin cities was paralysed from dawn to dusk on Monday with opposition parties – TDP, BJP, TRS, PRP, CPI and CPM – enforcing a bandh against the petro price hike.

Barring the old city, the bandh, following a nationwide call, was near total with schools, colleges, offices, hotels, shops, petrol pumps, cinema theatres and other commercial establishments remaining shut. The attendance of employees in the state and central government offices remained thin.

Secretariat bans plastic, again

Hyderabad, July 06: Finally, Secretariat has decided to fall in line with the noplastic policy. The government has issued orders prohibiting use of plastic carry bags, tea cups and and food packaging on the premises. Violation of the ban will attract penalties ranging from Rs 250 to Rs 500.

The General Administration Department’s (GAD’s) circular in this regard to various departments said the ban had previously been notified under the Recycled Plastics Manufacture and Usage Rules, 1999, under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986. This will now be enforced.

Satyam case: CBI undecided on fourth chargesheet

Hyderabad, July 06: The Central Bureau of Investigation is undecided on filing a fourth charge sheet or not in the multicrore Satyam Computers accounting scam case.

It had already filed three charge sheets in the case and the investigation agency had claimed earlier that it would file another charge sheet on fund diversion to other countries.

The counsel for CBI today informed the special Court that it could not say anything on filing of the fourth charge sheet at this point of time.

Rain lashes city

Hyderabad, July 06: Rain lashed the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad on Monday night resulting in the flooding of main roads causing traffic jams and inundation of lowlaying areas.

Traffic movement on main roads came to a grinding halt in several places. The rain, which began in the evening, continued till late night, causing severe inconvenience and hardships to people living in low-lying areas and to the motorists who were caught in the traffic jams for a long time.

Tomorrow’s East Coast Express cancelled

Hyderabad, July 06: Due to the Bharat bandh on Monday, train No.8645 Howrah- Hyderabad East Coast Express, scheduled to leave Howrah at 11:45 hours on July 5 was cancelled. Consequently, its pairing train No. 8646 Hyderabad-Howrah East Coast Express, scheduled to depart from Hyderabad at 10:00 hours on July 7, has been cancelled.

RESCHEDULED: Train No. 2703 Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknuma Express, scheduled to depart from Howrah at 07:25 hours on July 5 was rescheduled to depart at 19:00 hours.

Murdered journo’s widow seeks judicial probe

Hyderabad, July 06: Reiterating that her husband Hemchandra Pandey was a journalist, his widow, Babitha, has demanded a judicial inquiry into his gunning down along with CPI (Maoist) leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad in the forests of Adilabad recently.

She met Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy at the latter’s residence today along with her brother- in-law, Rajiv, representatives of the AP Civil Liberties Committee and journalists.

Two test positive for swine flu in AP

Hyderabad, July 06: Two new cases of swine flu have been confirmed in the state during last three days, Health officials said here on Tuesday.

A 35-year-old man has tested positive for the virus in Visakhapatnam, while the other patient is an 18-year-old boy in Hyderabad, AP Chest Hospital’s State Chief Coordinator for Swine Flu Dr K Subhakar said.

Condition of both the patients was stable, Subhakar said.

HC clears way for diploma-holders

Hyderabad, July 06: A Division bench of the High Court, consisting of justice G. Raghuram and justice R. Kanta Rao, today dismissed a state government writ petition and cleared the decks for recruitment of diploma-holders as school teachers in the state.

The litigation dates back to a notification in 2006 when the Service Tribunal of the state directed the government to provide reservation to diploma- holders. When the High Court upheld the directive the matter was taken to the Supreme Court.

Opposition posts a draw in State

Hyderabad, July 06: The All-India Bandh call given by all Opposition parties, including the BJP-led NDA and the Left parties, on Monday in protest against the fuel price hike, saw a mixed response in the State.

Educational institutions remained closed and government offices reported thin attendance, but commercial establishments resumed business in the afternoon.

Hemchandra Pandey’s body flown to Delhi

Hyderabad, July 06: The body of Hemchandra Pandey, a freelance journalist killed with Maoist leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad in an alleged gunfight with police, was Tuesday taken to New Delhi.

Pandey’s wife Babita, who says that her husband was a freelance journalist and not a Maoist, was handed over the body by the police at Bellampally in Adilabad district.

She and other relatives brought the body to Hyderabad, where it was kept at the Press Club for journalists to pay their last respects before being flown to New Delhi.

Water board to bury pit taps

Hyderabad, July 06: Realising that pit taps are the root cause for water pollution in houses, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) has launched a special drive to close such taps in Greater Hyderabad limits.

Following incidences of contamination of water supplied to homes through pipelines recently and also last year in different parts of the twin cities, the water board officials found that in many of these cases pit taps were the culprits as sewage was getting mixed with drinking water here.

Condom too small, man attacks shopkeeper

London, July 06: A man attacked a shopkeeper in Britain after the condom he had purchased split during sex, as it was too small.

Jude Ukachukwu went to the store owner and sought a refund, saying his contraceptive had split during sex, The Sun reported Tuesday.

An altercation took place when shopkeeper Sasisedaran Sellathurai refused to return his money. Ukachukwu punched the shopkeeper in his face during the row in Hatfield, Herts.

Sellathurai told St. Albans Crown Court that the assailant had demanded his money back as the condoms were the wrong size.

‘Over 13 crore children get mid-day meals’

Rajhmundary, July 06: Minister of State for Human Resources Development D Purandeswari has said that over 13 crore children across the country are receiving benefits from the mid-day meal scheme.

“The mid-day meal scheme was introduced in 2001 in India, which has secured first position in implementing the mid-deal meal scheme in all Asian countries and over 13 crore children across the country are availing this scheme,” the HRD minister said here yesterday after opening the Rs 1.6 crore integrated hostel building at Hasnabada village.

Congress warns Jagan against resuming yatra

New Delhi, July 06: Congress today asked a defiant party MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy not to go ahead with his controversial yatra and threatened him with disciplinary action if he did not not obey.

“All true committed and loyal Congressmen must necessarily observe both the party dharma and laxman rekha of propriety and party discipline,” party spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said.

Fuel price hike won’t impact inflation: Pranab

Chandigarh, July 06: Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee Tuesday said that the hike in fuel prices was introduced after considering various factors and that it would not cause any surge in inflation.

“The committee concerned had submitted its report about the petroleum products to us in February but keeping in mind public interest, we had implemented it in June. The committee had drafted its report after considering all parameters,” Mukherjee told reporters here.

Situation in Kashmir matter of concern: Antony

Bangalore, July 06: Defence Minister A.K. Antony Tuesday said the fresh wave of violence in Kashmir was a matter of concern.

“The situation in Kashmir is not grim but it is a matter of concern. Even if one incident takes place, it has fallout in the form of violence, unfortunately,” Antony told reporters here on the margins of a defence event.

Asserting that violence in the Kashmir Valley had come down compared to the past, Antony said the number of tourists to Kashmir and Ladakh had more than doubled this year.

Court okays curbs on buses in Kolkata

New Delhi, July 06: The Supreme Court has upheld the West Bengal government’s power to prevent stage carriage buses entering Kolkata in order to decongest roads and curb pollution.

The apex court verdict was delivered by a bench of Justices R.V. Raveendran and P. Sathasivam Monday, upholding the West Bengal State Transport Authority’s power to deny permits or curtail routes of stage carriage buses.

Nehru responsible for Kashmir situation: Advani

New Delhi, July 06: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K. Advani Tuesday alleged that India’s first prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru was “fully responsible” for the difficult situation in Kashmir.

Speaking at a function organised to mark the birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh (BJP’s parent party) founder Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, Advani said that if Nehru could have accepted the views of Mukherjee “then the crown of Himalayas may not have been disturbed”.

Army to give logistical support against Maoists: Antony

Bangalore, July 06: Defence Minister A.K. Antony Tuesday said the armed forces would extend logistical support to the state police and paramilitary forceS in combating the growing Maoist menace in parts of the country.

“Though armed forces are mainly meant for safeguarding the country’s borders, they will give all the logistical support, including training, supplies and more aircraft,” Antony told reporters here.

Admitting that the Maoist problem was a serious threat to the country, Antony said the government was seized of the issue and working on a two-pronged strategy.

Four drug traffickers hanged in Iran

Berlin, July 06: Four convicted drug traffickers were hanged Tuesday in central Iran, ISNA news agency reported.

The four men were hanged in a prison in the city of Isfahan after their death penalties were confirmed by the Supreme Court, ISNA said.

Murder, rape, armed robbery and trafficking of drugs weighing more than 5 kg are among crimes punishable by death in Iran.
