Plot to assassinate RSS chief

CBI traps Railways engineer while accepting bribe

Hyderabad, June 28: The Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths here today trapped a senior Divisional Engineer in South Central Railways (SCR) while he allegedly took a bribe of Rs 10,000.

The accused Gopal Reddy, was trapped by CBI sleuths (Hyderabad Zone) at the Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad here, while he was allegedly taking the bribe amount from a complainant for doing official favour, a CBI officer told PTI.

“The railway official will be arrested and the case is under further investigation,” the CBI officer said.

4 killed, 10 injured in Baghdad violence

Baghdad, June 28: Four people have been killed in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad as the country sees more militant attacks and deadly bombings.

Two women were killed on Monday when a group of gunmen stormed into a house in Baghdad’s southern district of Dora, wounding four other people, two of them women, AFP reported.

Two policemen were killed trying to defuse a roadside bomb on Sheikh Omar Street in central Baghdad. Four others were injured in the explosion.

Another two people were wounded when a magnetic bomb exploded in Karrada, a busy commercial district in the capital.

Pakistan blast claims 18, injures 40

Hyderabad, June 28: A bomb blast has claimed the lives of at least eighteen people and left 40 others injured in Pakistan’s Hyderabad.

A bomb-laden truck exploded in Hyderabad on Monday, but it was not immediately known whether it was an act of terrorism, Reuters quoted Hyderabad police chief Fayyaz Leghari as saying.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

Hyderabad is located 160 km (100 miles) north of the southern financial capital of Karachi.

Hyderabad, June 28 (Siasat News): The Golconda police arrested a maidservant and her boy friend for stealing 42 tolas of gold jewellery worth Rs. 7.5 lakh.

The accused Afreen Anjum, 29, and her boy friend Sheikh Ali Ahmed Ali, 27, had hidden the jewellery in a garbage bin to be disposed of later.

According to the police, Afreen worked at the house of a retired BHEL employee, Mr. Omer Farooq at Balreddynagar in Golconda.

18 militants killed in Afghanistan

Kabul, June 28: The NATO-led troops eliminated 18 Taliban militants including two commanders in Afghanistan’s southern Zabul province, police said Saturday.

‘Acting on intelligence reports the international troops pounded militants’ hideouts in Shar-e-Safa area of the province Friday night killing 18 rebels including two group commanders Mullah Toorjan and Mullah Ahmad Shah on the spot,’ Ghulam Jilani Farahi, deputy to provincial police chief, told Xinhua.

He did not give more details.

Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops are yet to make comments.

Blast kills 8 in central Afghanistan

Kabul, June 28: At least eight civilians have lost their lives in a Taliban-type bomb attack in the central Afghan province of Ghazni, local police officials say.

The blast happened after an improvised explosive device went off in the Andar district in Ghazni province.

“The bomb was planted by the enemies, the Taliban, to target security forces. But it struck a civilian car and killed eight civilians,” AFP quoted Mohammad Idris, a provincial police official, as saying.

Idris further added that women and children were among the dead without giving exact figures.

Prostitution racket busted in UAE

Abu Dhabi, June 28: At least 10 people have been detained in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for allegedly forcing 17 women into prostitution and filming pornographic videos.

The 10 suspects detained in Abu Dhabi have been charged with human trafficking, forced prostitution and physical and psychological torture of the victims. They were also charged with making pornographic videos as well as running a fake commercial enterprise as a cover for their involvement in prostitution.
