Second Ajmer blast suspect arrested

Ajmer, May 01: Police has made another arrest in connection with the 2007 bombing in Ajmer Dargah shrine.

Chandrashekhar is the second suspect, who has been arrested in connection with the bombings. He has been remanded in 12 days police custody.

Earlier on Wednesday, Devendra Gupta was arrested on from Ajmer, 390 km from New Delhi.
Ajmer’s additional chief judicial magistrate sentenced Chandreshekhar, an official of the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of the Rajasthan Police told the reporters.

The ATS arrested him from Shahjahanpur in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh late Friday.

Court frames charges under MCOCA against Salem

New Delhi, May 01: On the basis of prima facie evidence against the underworld don Abu Salem, a Delhi Court has today framed charges under rigid provisions of MCOCA.

The court has framed the charges against the gangster in connection to an extortion case.

The Additional Session Judge Pinki said that Delhi police has provided adequate stuff for prosecuting him in the case.

The court fixed May 17 for prosecution evidence.

UPA has put India on development path: PC

Coimbatore, May 01: Talking on the cross border terrorism and internal extremism, Union Home Minister P Chidabaram today emphasised that UPA has helped India to move ahead on path of development and also to be economically stable.

He further added, since last few years, India has been able to manage the cross-border terrorism and also the demands for separate states internally.

The government had succeeded in bringing those seeking separate states to negotiating table, he said, adding that six states were facing Naxal problem, which had to be tackled.

Ketan Desai is in judicial custody

New Delhi, May 01: A Delhi court today remanded MCI President Ketan Desai and three others in 13-day judicial custody after their arrest for allegedly taking bribe to allow a medical college in Punjab to admit students despite lack of infrastructure.

Additional Sessions Judge O P Saini sent them to jail till May 14 after the CBI told that their custodial interrogation was no more required in the investigation of the case.

Wife arrested for taxi driver’s murder

New Delhi, May 01: The wife of a taxi driver has been arrested for her alleged involvement in his murder in the Mahipalpur area of south Delhi, police said Saturday. This is the second arrest in the case.

“Meenu, 25, the wife of the murdered taxi driver Vijendra Yadav, 30, was Friday arrested for her involvement in her husband’s murder,” a police officer told IANS.

Yadav’s body was recovered from an abandoned car April 26 in south Delhi.

Police arrested Hemraj, 21, a staffer in the Indian Air Force, from an Indian Air Force base near Hyderabad Thursday in connection with the murder.

Shahrukh ill due to excessive work load!!

Mumbai, May 01: Bollywood badshah, Shah Rukh Khan is down with fever and cold. The actor-producer, who is not shooting for his home production Ra.1 but handling the production activities, however, did not lose his sense of humour despite being numb with cold.

Girl raped for leaving Maoist ranks

Latehar, May 01: A 16-year-old girl and a member of a Maoist outfit was allegedly raped by other members for fleeing the camp in Latehar district of Jharkhand, the police said on Saturday.

“The girl ran away from a camp about five days ago. She was caught by the ultras, beaten up and raped when she refused to return,” Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Dwivedi said.

The Maoists had appealed to sympathisers to trace her alleging that she had fled with arms.

The SP said the girl was left at a lonely place from where villagers rescued her and admitted to a health centre.

Kuwait busts Iran ‘spy cell’: Paper

Kuwait City, May 01: Security agencies in Kuwait have busted a spy cell working for Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, feeding information on Kuwaiti and US targets, a newspaper reported on Saturday.

Citing high-ranking security sources, Al-Qabas daily said Kuwait arrested at least seven men, some of whom served in the Interior and Defence Ministries, while others include bidoon, or stateless Arabs, and other Arabs.
