Chitrangada Singh reprimanded on sets

Mumbai, May 04: Though she does only few films but the popularity of actress Chitrangada Singh continues to soar. Perhaps this is the reason why this actress is always in the news.

Now, the latest is that Chitrangada Singh was recently scolded by her director for not being able to play her role well. According to sources, her director Sudhir Mishra lost his cool after realizing that despite getting trained in playing guitar, the actress was not giving her best performance.

Woman sets self, children afire

Lucknow, May 04: A woman allegedly set herself afire along with her three children in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district over some marital dispute following which all the four died, police said Tuesday.

Pinki Dubey (35) of Bhivpur village in Gonda, some 150 km from Lucknow, set herself ablaze along with her three children aged between 2 months and 5 years.

“It appears that marital discord is the main reason behind the incident. We are yet to trace Pinki’s husband Vasudev Kumar for interrogation in the case,” police inspector S.P. Singh told reporters in Gonda.

NATO chopper crashes in Afghanistan

Kabul, May 04: A NATO helicopter has crashed in Afghanistan’s eastern province of Nuristan, but the military alliance has denied that anyone was killed in the mishap.

The military helicopter went down Monday afternoon, wounding several people onboard. NATO blames technical failure for the incident, a Local Media reported on Tuesday.

Last month, A US Air Force CV-22 Osprey helicopter crashed in Afghanistan’s southeastern sector, killing at least four people and wounding numerous others.

Make use of each drop of water: Rosaiah

Hyderabad, May 03: (Siasat News) Chief Minister K. Rosaiah instructed the state irrigation officials to take steps to see each drop of water consumed. He emphasized them not to compromise at the cost of water resources. He talked over the telephone with the officers and the Krishna water Tribunals talks, which were already started in New Delhi.

Consuming Valima dinner 50 fell ill

Hyderabad, May 03: (Siasat News) Last night in Valima dinner 50 guests consumed poison food and were not feeling well on Sunday night when the returned their homes, many guests suffered form loose motion and vomiting. Seeing their deteriorating condition they had to be admitted in the Gandhi Hospital and in some Private Hospitals. Police reached Moula Ali Locality and took the food samples from the host’s house.

Husband shoots wife, commits suicide

Ghaziabad, May 04: A husband allegedly shot his wife over a family dispute before committing suicide by consuming poison and ending his life, police said today. Jacab Jani shot his wife Anjana on May one and escaped from the spot, Superintendent of Police A K Vijeta said, adding fearing arrest Jani yesterday consumed poison and died.

Anjana was rushed to a hospital where she is in critical condition.

Digvijay demands judicial probe into encounter

Aligarh, May 04: Uttar Pradesh Congress in-charge Digvijay Singh met with the family members of the army jawan, killed in an encounter in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district, and demanded a judicial probe into it.

23-year-old Deepak, a Rajputana Rifles soldier, was killed in a shootout with police on May 1.

Congress General Secretary Singh met with the bereaved family last evening and called for the judicial probe into the incident

Meanwhile, residents of Bharery village of the district were angry over the killing and claimed that it was a case of mistaken identity.

Unruly scenes in Lok Sabha as Trinamool MP fumes

New Delhi, May 04: The Mumbai railway workers’s strike led to unruly scenes in the Lok Sabha Tuesday when Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay used unparliamentary language against veteran Communist MP Basudeb Acharia during zero hour.

The whole house was stunned for a moment and central ministers Ambika Soni, Pawan Kumar Bansal and other ministers and MPs from the treasury benches tried to pacify Bandyopadhyay.

Protesting the remark against their leader, Left MPs, including Ramachandra Dome, M.B. Rajesh and P.K. Biju, rushed towards the Trinamool MP.

Woman cop held for hiring men to kill driver

Raipur, May 04: A woman police officer has been arrested on charges of hiring men for killing her personal driver who had her “obscene” pictures and was blackmailing her. Four men have also been held, authorities said Tuesday.

Tarshila Toppo, in-charge of a police station in Janjgir-Champa district, hired four men and paid them Rs.100,000 to kill 23-year-old Jagdish Singh Rajput. The driver was killed with a sharp-edged weapon in March.

Los Angeles, May 04: After conquering the highest peak of Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, actress Jessica Beil has now set her sights on Mount Everest.

“I’m thinking about trekking to Everest base camp. That’s kind of the next goal,” she said.

Beil climbed to the top of Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, in January. She was joined by actor Emile Hirsch and members of the United Nation Foundation, to raise awareness and funds for the global water crisis, reported aceshowbiz.com.

No delay in fighter jet tender process: IAF chief

New Delhi, May 04: The IAF has said there would be no delay in finalising the $11 billion-deal to acquire 126 combat aircraft, even though the two-year deadline for the bids submitted by six global aerospace majors ended last week.

“As far as the process (finalising the tenders) is concerned, it is well on track as was visualised,” IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik said here on the sidelines of a function to unveil a portrait of Marshal of Air Force Arjan Singh at the Akash Mess on Monday.

Sena withdraws support to motormen strike

Mumbai, May 04: The Shiv Sena on Tuesday withdrew its support to the ongoing motormen strike in Mumbai taking note of the inconvenience caused to the commuters, even as the BJP appealed to the agitators to call off their protest.

“We have withdrawn our support to the motormen strike after Sena Chief Bal Thackeray ordered us to do so. The commuters are having lot of trouble and the city has been stranded since yesterday,” Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut told PTI in Mumbai.

Midnight blaze kills 1, razes slum colony

Pune, May 04: A major midnight blaze in Ambedkar Nagar slum left a four-year-old girl dead and four others injured from her family.

Almost 350 hutments of about 2,276 were gutted, police said. Over 25 LPG cylinders used by residents exploded, making the situation worse which could be brought under control by 26 fire tenders in three hours.

ONGC acquires Russian oil company: Government

New Delhi, May 04: India has acquired a Russian oil company and bought equity stake in an oil field project in Venezuela through consortium route, the Rajya Sabha was informed.

Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Jitin Prasada said during Question Hour, “we have recently acquired a Russian oil company named Imperial Energy through ONGC Videsh. Apart from this we have acquired 18 per cent equity share in a Venezuelan field project through consortium mode.”

Prasada said Oil India Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation and OVL are the shareholders in the 18 per cent stake.

Fire broke out in Railway dormitory

Beijing, May 04: At least 10 people died when a fire broke out in a railway workers’ dormitory in China’s Inner Magnolia Autonomous region.

The firemen brought the blaze under control in half an hour, reported on Tuesday.

Fourteen other workers in the dormitory were hospitalised after suffering burns, with six of them were severely injured.

The dormitory belongs to the No 19 subsidiary of the China Railway Group Limited in Saihan District, Hohhot. The company’s workers are building a railway tunnel.

Apex court reserves order on Reddy brothers’ plea

New Delhi, May 04: The Supreme Court Tuesday reserved orders on the plea of the Reddy brothers, two of whom are ministers in Karnataka, to permit mining in a forested area on the Andhra Pradesh-Karnataka border.

A bench headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan reserved the order after Solicitor General Gopal Subramaniam told the court that the Survey of India report recommended that a fresh demarcation of the boundaries of the leases was necassary before mining could be allowed.

Sri Lanka beat Zimbabwe by 14 runs

Guyana, May 04: Sri Lanka defeated Zimbabwe by 14 runs (D/L method) after rain stopped play twice in Zimbabwe’s innings in their Twenty20 World Cup match at Providence Stadium in Guyana on Monday.

Andhra ACB raids residence of IAS officer

Hyderabad, May 04: The Andhra Pradesh Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) today raided the residence of the Joint Collector of Ranga Reddy district and claimed to have unearthed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.

A senior ACB official said the Bureau raided the residence of M Jaganmohan, a 1999-batch IAS officer, and seized many property documents and other assets.

“We are still evaluating the details of the assets owned by Jaganmohan,” a senior ACB official said. Jaganmohan is being interrogated, he said.
