Hyderabad, March 28: Acknowledging the services rendered by various party workers to the Congress, Chief Minister K Rosaiah said he would ensure that their sincere efforts were suitably rewarded.

He was indirectly referring to vacant nominated posts in various corporations and boards in the State.

Addressing a gathering at the Gandhi Bhavan this evening to felicitate senior leader D Srinivas who completed two years as APCC chief, Rosaiah said Srinivas was fortunate to hold such an important post in a party with a 125-year history.

US casualties double in Afghanistan

Eye surgeon to pay damages of Rs 2 lakh for negligence

New Delhi, March 28: The National Consumer Commission has rapped an eye surgeon for negligence in conducting laser therapy on a person who lost his vision after the procedure and upheld an order by a state forum directing the medic to pay Rs two lakh in compensation to the patient’s family.

The Commission also imposed a cost of Rs 10,000 on the petitioner, Niraj Awasthi, for not exercising reasonable care during treatment.
