Partially burnt body recovered of Indian migrant in Australia

Melbourne, January 05: It seems that the Indians are now not very much safe in the Australia as another case has been reported from the country.

According to news input, a partially burnt body found in Australia’s New South Wales province last week, which is believed to be of a 25-year-old Indian national, police affirmed on Tuesday. If the victim hails from India, it would be the second fatality of cruel attacks on Indian community, after death of Nitin Garg, who stabbed in the country.

North India reels under cold wave, death toll at 122

New Delhi, January 05: Cold wave continues to have North India in its grip with the death toll rising to 122 as temperature have dropped drastically in many areas.

Most parts of the Kashmir valley, including Srinagar experienced snowfall once again on Monday.

Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -1.2°C while Kargil recorded -15.8°C.

Upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh also witnessed snowfall while Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Bihar are reeling under intense cold conditions.

Kerala High Court stays sanction for Islamic Bank

Kochi, January 05: A division bench of the Kerala High Court on Tuesday restrained the Kerala government and the Kerala State Financial Enterprise from commencing the operation of an Islamic Bank until further orders.

The Bench comprising Chief Justice S. R. Bannurmath and Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan passed the interim order while admitting a public interest petition filed by Janata Party President Dr. Subramanian Swamy.

He challenged the sanction given by the Kerala government for starting the Islamic Bank.

MI5 ‘still using threats to recruit Muslim spies’

London, January 05: MI5 faces accusatwions that its officers have blackmailed and harassed vulnerable immigrants living in Britain as part of a campaign to recruit spies to report on Muslim communities.

In one case, a man who escaped persecution in Africa where members of his family were murdered claims that for the past nine months he has been harassed by MI5 agents who have tried to force him to work for the Security Service.

Isahaq Elmi, 31, says he was bombarded with more than 200 phone calls and tricked into attending meetings at police stations in Birmingham.
