New Delhi, October 04: Instant money and fame has spoilt many Indian cricketers and BCCI should act as a guide to teach them how to deal with these early temptations, says former skipper Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi.

Pataudi said barring a very few players, like Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, easy money and fame has become distractions for most cricketers, especially youngsters, and affected their attitude towards the game.

Don’t know whether Osama dead or alive: Musharraf

Islamabad, October 04: Pakistan and the US were closing in on al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden about five years ago but suddenly lost track of him and now it was not known whether the world’s most wanted terrorist was dead or alive, according to former President Pervez Musharraf.

“It was some five years back when there was some intelligence that got picked up of a broad location…Then suddenly, we lost track,” Musharraf, currently on a lecture tour of the US, told a near-capacity crowd at a college at Sioux Falls in South Dakota.

Khagaria carnage: Bihar CM suspends SP, SDPO

Patna, October 04: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Sunday suspended Superintendent of Police and Sub-Divisional Police Officer in conection with Khagaria carnage, in which 16 people were killed by suspected Maoists in Amosi Bharen village three days ago.

“The chief minister has taken strong exception to the massacre and suspended Khagaria SP Indranand Mishra and SDPO Ajay Kumar Pandey. They have been charged with dereliction of duty, serious lapses and failure to reach the spot immediately after the incident,” Additional Director General (Headquaters) Neelmani told PTI.

Captain Younus Khan laments dropping Grant Elliot

Johannesburg, October 04: Pakistan captain Younus Khan yesterday lamented dropping in-form New Zealand batsman Grant Elliot, conceding holding on to the catch could have changed the complexion of the match.

Elliot, who top-scored with an unbeaten 75, was batting on 42 when he lobbed a Mohammed Aamer delivery to offer the simplest of catch to Younus at short cover.

The Pakistan captain tried to pouch the knee-high catch in the Australian way, only to see the ball pop out of his cupped palms.

Elliot did not look back after that and went on to play a match-winning note.

Grint, Pattinson in tie for Prince Harry biopic

London, October 04: Both Harry Potter star Rupert Grint and “Twilight” actor Robert Pattinson are being tipped to play Prince Harry in a movie about the British monarch’s life.

Director Peter Kosminsky is set to begin casting for the biopic, titled “The Spare”. The film will depict the royal’s experience of losing his mother Princess Diana and serving for the Army in Afghanistan, reports imdb.com.

The filmmaker is said to be considering British actors Grint and Pattinson for the lead, as well as “Pride and Prejudice” star Rupert Friend for the role.

India, US hope to clinch agreement on reprocessing n-fuel

New Delhi, October 04: India and the US may clinch the much-awaited “arrangements and procedures” agreement on reprocessing the spent nuclear fuel of American origin when they meet in Vienna soon.

The talks between officials of the nuclear establishments of the two countries are expected to take place within the next fortnight and will be observed very closely by US companies which are keen to set up nuclear power plants in India.

The first round of talks in July in Vienna were “very surprising for both the sides”, sources close to the negotiators said.

The song in question is ‘O Re Saawariya’ that is already famous for Mr. Bachchan’s signature pink pagadi & white kurta from his NAMAK HALAAL days.

The song is sung by Sudesh Bhonsle. While working on the song, at the spur of the moment Mr. Bachchan came up with an ‘alaap’ and hearing that the music directors Vishal and Shekhar decided to incorporate the ‘alaap’ in the song.

Engineering student tests positive for H1N1 in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, October 04: A 19-year-old engineering student from Canada who had come to visit his family in Punjab has tested positive for swine flu, health officials said here Sunday.

“This patient had come to visit his family in Ludhiana (in Punjab) and started exhibiting the symptoms of swine flu. We had collected his nasal and throat swab samples yesterday (Saturday) and his reports have come positive,” a Chandigarh health official said.

Improve farm techniques to ensure food security: FICCI

New Delhi, October 04: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has urged the government to bring more areas under irrigation and improve farm techniques to ensure food security.
Less rainfall during this monsoon has led to a dip of 15 percent in the kharif output, FICCI said in a report.

Moreover, the shortage of water levels in the reservoirs would affect the rabi output and would lower agricultural production by 5 percent, it added.

Invest 5 percent of provident fund in equities: Assocham

New Delhi, October 04: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Assocham) has urged the central government to allow the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) to invest at least 5 percent of its funds in equities.

“The EPFO can also be a beneficiary of such emerging capital markets, provided it is permitted to invest a part of its corpus in index-based equity market – which is safer, reliable and remunerative,” Assocham said in a report.
