Jeev was placed 24th, Jyoti 33rd and Kapur was 47th.

Alexander Noren shot an eight-under 63 to get into sole lead at 15-under 198. He was two clear of Charl Schwartzel (65) at 13-under.

G20 expected to reach agreement on bank bonuses

London, September 05: Finance ministers of the G-20 countries are expected to reach an agreement on bank bonuses, Britain’s Sky News reported Saturday.

The ministers were nearing an agreement under which banks would be forced to disclose the pay of their top earners, it reported.

The row over bank pay-outs had been expected to dominate the meeting of G20 finance ministers in London held this weekend.

Sky News sources said that the agreements would be signed at the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh Sep 24-25.

Nine deaths takes India’s swine flu toll to 125

New Delhi/Bangalore, September 05: Nine people, including six in Karnataka, died of swine flu in India Saturday, taking the country’s toll from the infectious influenza A (H1N1) virus to 125, health authorities said.

The death toll in Karnartaka has gone up to 41, second only to Maharashtra, which has seen 59 deaths.

Fast-track court to settle Satyam case soon: Khursheed

Kolkata, September 05: The Andhra Pradesh High Court has approved setting up a fast track court to settle the multi-crore accounting fraud in Satyam Computers, Corporate Affairs Minister Salman Khursheed said here Saturday.

“The Andhra Pradesh High Court has agreed to our appeal and has already given an in-principal approval to set up a fast track court for the settlement of the Satyam fraud issue. We’re now awaiting the final notification,” Khursheed told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

China sacks senior officials in Xinjiang capital

Urumqi, September 05: The communist party chief of Xinjiang capital Urumqi and the police chief of northwest China’s Xinjiang region were removed from their posts Saturday.

Li Zhi, secretary of the Urumqi Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), was replaced by Zhu Hailun, secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Autonomous Regional Political and Legislative Affairs Committee, according to a decision by the CPC Xinjiang Autonomous Regional Committee.

Deep depression crosses Orissa coast

Bhubaneswar, September 05: The deep depression formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal crossed the Orissa coast Saturday evening and moved toward West Bengal, weather officials said.

“The deep depression has moved in a northerly direction and lay centered at about 50 km north of Digha (in West Bengal),” the Bhubaneswar meteorological centre said.

“The system is likely to move further in a northwesterly direction. Under its influence thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Orissa,” it said.

UAE to host Unesco meeting on intangible heritage

Abu Dhabi, September 05: The fourth meeting of Unesco’s Intergovernmental Committee of Intangible Heritage will be held Sep 28-Oct 2 in this United Arab Emirates capital.

Abu Dhabi will receive around 400 official delegations from 114 countries that have signed Unesco’s Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Heritage, WAM news agency reported Saturday.

Representatives of more than 50 associations, regional organisations, and non-governmental organisations will also attend the meeting.

Reliance DreamWorks announces first three films

Mumbai, September 05: Reliance BIG Entertainment and Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks Studios have rolled out details of the first three movies they will be working on as part of their $825 million partnership.

The projects, “I Am Number 4”, “Pirate Latitudes” and “Harvey”, are a mix of adventure as well as book and play adaptations, a Reliance BIG Entertainment statement issued here Saturday said.

Deaflympics opens in Taiwan with drums and a firework display

Taipei, September 05: A spectacular fireworks display and the beating of drums by 80 deaf students heralded the opening of the 21st Summer Deaflympics here Saturday evening.

President Ma Ying-jeou, through sign language, announced the opening of the 10-day games, being attended by nearly 3,000 athletes from 80 countries and regions.

They will compete in some 100 events in 20 sports.

The Chinese team boycotted the opening because of Ma’s presence, as China sees Chinese Taipei (Taiwan) as its breakaway province and does not recognize Ma as president.

Tension at Pashupatinath, Nepal Maoists deny role in attack

FIA summons Renault to answer charges

Paris, September 05: Motorsport’s governing body FIA has asked Formula One team Renault to appear before a meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council to answer a series of charges.

AN FIA statement said the meeting would be held September 21.

“Renault has to answer charges, including a breach of Article 151c of the International Sporting Code, that the team conspired with its driver, Nelson Piquet Jr, to cause a deliberate crash at the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix with the aim of causing the deployment of the safety car to the advantage of its other driver, Fernando Alonso,” FIA said.

Brunswick, September 05: The 911 call was chilling: A frantic 22-year-old told a dispatcher he had returned home from a night out to find his entire family dead in his father’s mobile home.

After a week working a case so murky they could not say whether a killer was on the loose, police said Guy Heinze Jr. was responsible for the slayings he reported and charged him with eight counts of first-degree murder. Among the dead were seven of his relatives, including his father.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Navin Chawla said here that the long gap between the polling (Oct 13) and the counting (Oct 22) for assembly elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Arunachal Pradesh was kept in view of the Diwali festival season next month and also due to the tough terrain in Arunachal Pradesh.

India’s first all-male quintuplets born to Thane couple

Thane (Maharashtra), September 05: The country’s first all-male set of quintuplets was born to a Thane couple at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai Friday, a hospital spokesperson said Saturday.

The mother, Sabira Ubaid Khan, 23, and her five children are doing well at the hospital’s advanced tertiary care facility, with an eight-member team of medicos attending to them, the spokesperson said.

Ubaid Khan, the proud father, said that the infants were delivered within a three minute gap Friday.

Man who called 911 charged with Ga. mobile home deaths

Brunswick, September 05: A man who told police “My whole family’s dead!” in a frantic 911 call was charged Friday with killing the eight people attacked in his family’s Georgia mobile home.

Guy Heinze Jr., 22, was arrested Friday on eight counts of first-degree murder in the slayings last weekend near the coastal community of Brunswick. Among those killed were seven of Heinze’s relatives.

On Teachers Day, police baton charge teachers in Lucknow

Lucknow, September 05: Primary school teachers demanding a salary hike were baton charged by police here on Teachers Day.

As the teachers tried to enter the state assembly Saturday, police baton charged them.

“We resorted to force only when they (teachers) turned violent and tried to damage vehicles on the roads,” Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Prem Prakash told reporters.

“They are not regular teachers…their main demand pertains to better pay scale. Negotiations are on to meet the demands of the shiksha mitras (temporary teachers),” he added.
