G20 expected to reach agreement on bank bonuses

London, September 05: Finance ministers of the G-20 countries are expected to reach an agreement on bank bonuses, Britain’s Sky News reported Saturday.
The ministers were nearing an agreement under which banks would be forced to disclose the pay of their top earners, it reported.

The row over bank pay-outs had been expected to dominate the meeting of G20 finance ministers in London held this weekend.

Sky News sources said that the agreements would be signed at the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh Sep 24-25.

France and Germany had wanted caps on bank pay-outs, but Britain’s Chancellor of the Exchequer Alistair Darling said any restrictions would be “un-enforceable” as bankers would simply find other ways to reward themselves.
