Mumbai, June 15: New director Abhinay Deo thought that casting actors from the theatre circle in his film Delhi Belly will save him from starry tantrums.

But it was not so. Deo, who has also signed up Imran Khan — the only known name — for the film, is reportedly disappointed with his starry tantrums.

Rather than concentrating on his acting, Imran, like mamu Aamir Khan, is interested in giving instructions and inputs to the entire crew, including Deo.

Railway Minister flags off Howrah-Digha Kandari Exp

Kolkata, June 15: The Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee flagged off Howrah – Digha Kandari Express at Howrah Station.

Speaking on the occasion Miss Banerjee informed another new train Tamralipta Express will also start running between Howrah and Digha from on Monday.

The Railway Minister said her Ministry is preparing a plan to connect rail communication with all important tourist spots in the country.

Three arrested for creating ruckus outside Fiza’s house

Mohali, June 15: Police here arrested three people in the early hours Monday for allegedly creating a ruckus outside the house of Anuradha Bali aka Fiza, the estranged wife of Chander Mohan alias Chand Mohammed.

‘We have registered a case against four people out of which three were arrested. Police have also impounded a Bolero car with a Haryana registration number. We are still investigating and expect to make more arrests today (Monday),’ Deepinder Singh, investigating officer of the case told IANS.

BJP should give up Hindhutva: MG Vaidya

New Delhi, June 15: MG Vaidya, a top Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideologue has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of failing ‘Hindutva’ by being ‘inconsistent’ on the ideology.

“The BJP has failed to convey the real meaning of ‘Hindutva’ to the people (in the recent elections). Probably, they thought they were not deemed to climb the pedestal of power with ‘Hindutva’ line. Hence, BJP should now disassociate itself with ‘Hindutva’,” Vaidya wrote in a column for the Marathi daily Tarun Bharat.

Toronto, June 15: A Canadian woman was forced to strip at the Montreal airport to check a pink tattoo on her butt after her name and birth date matched that of a wanted criminal.

Sylvie Menard, 43, who is a manager with a wine company in Montreal, was returning home after holidaying in Mexico in April when the airport computer flagged her since her name and birth date matched that of a criminal sought by police, the Canadian Press reported Sunday.

Sukhoi squadron in Northeast formally inducted

Tezpur (Assam), June 15: Four frontline combat aircraft Sukhoi-30MKI were formally inducted in India’s sensitive north-eastern region on Monday, a strategic decision to move advanced assets close to the Chinese border, defence officials said.

A defence spokesperson said four multi-role strike fighter jets at the Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Tezpur, about 185 km north of Assam’s main city of Guwahati, would soon be part of a Sukhoi-30MKI squadron comprising of 18 aircrafts.

Kolkata, June 15: A few days after taking charge as the Railway Minister, Mamata Banerjee on Sunday flagged off a daily train to Digha, the Howrah-Digha Kandari Express.

Police clueless to what drove NRI to kill wife, himself

Ludhiana, June 15: There has been no headway in the gory incident at Jaspal Bangar village where an NRI shot dead his wife and then killed himself with his licensed single barrel rifle in the wee hours of Saturday.

The post mortem on the bodies of the deceased NRI, Sardool Singh (65) and his wife Paramjit Kaur (62) was conducted at the Civil Hospital and then their bodies were handed over to their relatives for cremation.

New Delhi, June 15: They say nothing is personal in the cyber world. Everyone and anyone is vulnerable and can be hacked. Taking a cue, the Indian Army recently issued a circular asking its personnel not to post work-related information like ranks, place of posting etc on social networking sites like Orkut and Facebook.

“The circular has been issued recently in a bid to create cyber awareness among the net users in the army. It has been sent to all the units of the army across the country,” a senior army official confirmed to reporters, requesting anonymity.

Mumbai, June 15: Two more jail employees, said to have witnessed a fight between aides of gangsters Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Rajan in the Arthur Road prison in 2005, have turned hostile in court, denying any such incident took place.

A police sub-inspector had been injured but he too has turned hostile. The last remaining witness in the jail alarm case is investigating officer Nankishore Potkare, who will be examined on June 22.

Bid to abduct Chand after reunion with Fiza, 3 hurt

Mohali, June 15: An unsuccessful bid to abduct Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan alias Chand Mohammad from the house of his estranged wife Anuradha Bali alias Fiza was made on Sunday evening, police said.

A group of about 100 people tried to abduct Chand Mohammad from Fiza’s house, where he had returned back after almost five months, Mohali police said.

Upon receiving the information, a police team, led by ASI Sohan Singh, reached the spot but the mob attacked them.
