Mumbai, June 08: Bipasha Basu is embarrassed about the news that she is doing love scenes in her first Hollywood movie Chimera. The film, directed by Daniel Silverman and Tapan Sinha, reportedly has several intimate scenes between Hollywood actor Billy Zane and Bipasha.

The news, which was supposed to be kept under wraps, got published recently, leaving Bips embarrassed and upset.

After being together for almost two years, ex-Miss India Sayali Bhagat and Pakistani cricket star and ex-captain Shoaib Malik have called it quits. Recipe: Potato Bharta

Ingredients:

4 medium sized potatoes, boiled, peeled and mashed
1 medium sized chopped onion
2 tsp chopped garlic
3 whole red chillies
1 tsp cilantro leaves
4 tsp mustard oil

Quota for Muslims is a double-edged sword: Khurshid

New Delhi, June 08: In contrast to predecessor A R Antulay who maintained a studied silence on the the issue of reservation, newly-appointed Minority Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid has called quota for Muslims a “double-edged sword” which could create “envy, hostility and resistance”. He has instead advocated affirmative action as a tool to “inject an ability to compete” rather than make them “constant beneficiaries of additional help”.

Recipe: Chilli Mushroom

A spicy dish, Chilli Mushroom goes best with fried rice and steamed noodles.

Ingredients:

• 500 gm Button Mushrooms
• 200 gms Capsicum
• 2 medium sized Onions
• 2 inches Ginger
• 6 flakes Garlic
• 4 tbsp Oil
• 1 tsp Chili Powder
• 2 tsp Dark Soya Sauce
• 2 tsp Vinegar
• 1 tbsp Corn Flour
• 1 cup Water

Procedure:

• Cut mushrooms into halves.
• Cut capsicums into halves, remove the seeds and cut into thin strips.
• Grind onion, ginger and garlic to a paste.
• Heat 5 tbsp of oil. Fry the ground paste.

Jewellery worth Rs 1 cr robbed from shop

Lucknow, June 08: In a daring robbery, an armed miscreant entered a jewellery store and decamped with jewellery worth over Rs 1 crore, moments after the store owner opened his shop for the day in Sarrafa Chowk area in Pilibhit on Sunday morning. The shop is located barely a 100 metres away from the local Puranpur police station.

Agitated over the incident, traders of Sarrafa Chowk announced that they would keep their shutters down till the accused(s) was arrested and the booty recovered.

Civil services a new career option for toppers?

Ahmedabad, June 08: The state education department seemed to be luring toppers to take up civil services as a career option. Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on Sunday organised felicitation function for class X and calss XII state toppers of 2008 and 2009. There were close to 200 students who made it to the toppers’ list and were given certificates by the board.

Illiterate aunt brain behind Dr Fraud

Ahmedabad, June 08: As bizarre as it may sound, police officials in Ahmedabad now say that an illiterate woman, who can’t even spell her name properly, is the brain behind conman Ashok Jadeja’s multi-crore scam.

Jadeja’s aunt, Manbai Rathod, 60, who is a witch doctor or ‘bhuva’, is believed to be the mastermind of the investment scam threatening to cross the Rs 1,000-crore mark. Though illiterate, Rathod coined the now-famous slogan, ‘Jai Madi’ (Jai Ma), which has become synonymous with Jadeja. She was responsible for Jadeja’s demigod status.

Body fished out from Boduppal lake

Hyderabad, June 08: A body was fished out from Boduppal lake near Nacharam on Sunday.

Nacharam inspector V Venkateshwarlu said the body was identified as that of R Venkatesh, 40, an auto-driver who went missing on May 30. Incidentally, Venkatesh was a history-sheeter.

Venkatesh’s family had lodged a missing complaint with the Osmania University police station on June 3. Police suspect Venkatesh was done to death with a boulder as there was an injury on his head.

DEO warns against pirated textbooks

Hyderabad, June 08: The education department has asked shopkeepers not to sell pirated versions of textbooks in the city. In a release issued here on Saturday, DEO, Hyderabad, M Victoria Kumari has asked school authorities to buy textbooks only from authorised shops, the list of which will be sent to schools.

The DEO has further informed that no other item should be forcefully sold along with the textbooks.

Wild elephants on rampage again

Hyderabad, June 08: The jumbo menace has come back to haunt the villagers of Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. The wild elephants are on the rampage again, wreaking havoc in fruit orchards at Kottakota, Kusumuru and Titukpadu villages in Seethampet mandal for the past two days.

Sources said six pachyderms are roaming freely in Seethampet, Veeraghattam and Palakonda mandals, scaring the local tribals and farmers. A wild elephant attacked a couple from Kosingibhadra village of Gummalakshmipuram mandal when they came out to collect wood from the forest.

Another flu suspect tests positive

Hyderabad, June 08: With another suspect from the city testing positive for swine flu, taking the number to seven, National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), Delhi, has put in place stringent screening measures. Henceforth, a registry will be maintained at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, of all incoming international passengers.

With majority of the swine flu cases (seven out of nine) detected in Andhra Pradesh, an NICD team from Delhi was airdashed to the city.
