Rome.March 17 :One of the Italian mafia’s most wanted members has been arrested thanks to his use of the social networking website Facebook.
Police arrested Pasquale Manfredi, an alleged mafia killer, in the southern Calabrian town of Isola Capo Rizzuto, after they pinpointed his location via his frequent visits to Facebook using a prepaid pen drive.
Thirty-three-year-old Manfredi, knicknamed ‘Scarface’, had been on the run since last November and was among the country’s 100 ‘most dangerous’ fugitives.
Bangalore,March 17 :A guard at ISRO’s Indian Deep Space Network facility in Byalalu near Bangalore claimed on Tuesday that two gunmen opened fire at him, fuelling fears of a terror attack. But the police suspect the guard was hallucinating and cooked up the “ firing”. The Central Industrial Security Force ( CISF) constable, Jadhav Bhagwan, claimed he fired back, forcing the attackers to flee.

New delhi,March 15 :Lalu Prasad as a Railway Minister used railway saloon during journeys in his tenure unlike Mamata Banerjee who has so far not availed the facility.
Lalu had availed the saloon facility 369 times in five years, mostly during the journeys to his home state Bihar.
Besides using it more than a dozen times to travel to Patna from Delhi, Lalu also used the customised saloon for travelling to places like Puri, Jammu, Chhapra, Udaipur, Gorakhpur, Saharsa, Bhabua Road, Ajmer, Gaya, Ludhiana, Varanasi from the capital.

Washington, March 09: A United Nations report on the existence of secret detention facilities in countries around the world puts most of the blame on the US and its Central Intelligence Agency.
The report says that the CIA, under the pretext of fighting terrorism, runs scores of secret prisons in foreign countries where suspected terrorists are held, a Deutsche Welle article read on Saturday.
The UN report charges that the United States has created an “international network” to keep in detention anyone it deems as potential enemies.
Peshawar,March 09: Of the 44 predator strikes carried out by US drones in the tribal areas of Pakistan over the past 12 months, only five were able to hit their actual targets, killing five key Al-Qaeda and Taliban leaders, but at the cost of over 700 innocent civilians.
According to the statistics compiled by Pakistani authorities, the Afghanistan-based US drones killed 708 people in 44 predator attacks targeting the tribal areas between January 1 and December 31, 2009.

Washington,March 06 :AN ARMED man was shot dead after he opened fire on security guards at an entrance to the Pentagon on Thursday.
The gunman, identified as John Patrick Bedell, 36, died in hospital after the guards at the US defence department headquarters returned fire.
He is said to have harboured resentment against the military and posted online comments expressing doubts about the perpetrators of the September 11 terrorist attacks on New York.

On May 21 last year, seven- year- old Yogita’s body was recovered from a Fiat Linea sedan parked at Gadkari’s residence in Nagpur’s Mahul. While initial reports had said the car belonged to Gadkari, the police report said it belonged to a former personal assistant of his.

London, March 4 : Two Muslim women in Britain who refused to be screened by a full body airport scanner were subsequently stopped from boarding a flight to Pakistan, a spokesman for Manchester airport said Wednesday.
During the incident, which happened two weeks ago, the women cited religious and medical reasons respectively for their refusal to pass through the scanner, introduced at major British airports last month.
Bangalore/Chennai, March 04: Within hours of news channels telecasting video footage of a self-styled godman Paramhamsa Nityananda allegedly indulging in sexual acts with two women, enraged mobs ransacked his ashrams in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
A mob of infuriated men attacked the sprawling 29-acre ashram in Bidadi in Karnataka, smashing the 32-year-old godman’s portraits, banners, billboards and the reception office. Police deployed additional forces to protect the devotees, including about 100 foreigners staying within the complex.
