Reluctant MP’S scumb to ANNA’s power

New delhi,August 28 :Anna Hazare will end his 12-old-day fast at 10 am on Sunday after Parliament endorsed in principle three of his key demands to deal with corruption in a compromise between government and the Gandhian.

Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha went out of their way to discuss in a special sitting on Saturday an issue thrown up by the campaign of the 74-year-old activist who has been demanding enactment of Jan Lokpal for which he started a fast from August 16.

Alarming executions by rebels ?

Tripoli,August 26 :A grisly scene was discovered in Tripoli today, when reporters came across a former Gadhafi camp in central Tripoli where pro-regime fighters were found massacred, including a number that were bound before their execution.

In a discovery the UN termed “alarming,” a number of the victims were also found in the field hospital, having been executed there while receiving treatment for wounds. Reports have the death toll in this single incident at over 30.

Hours before the government on Tuesday offered to talk with Anna Hazare, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit met the Prime Minister to discuss the growing public sentiment in favour of the activist’s hunger strike.

Dikshit conveyed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh that everyone is against corruption, but the issue seems to have got entangled.

Anna get Awadh Royal Family support: NO IDD

Lucknow, August 24: The Royal Family of Awadh has extended its support to Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement. And have decided not to celebrate Eid as a mark of their protest this year.

General secretary Royal Family of Awadh (RFA) Sikoh Azad on Tuesday said, “Nearly 20,000 RFA members will not celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr to express solidarity to Anna Hazare’s crusade against graft.” He added that members of the royal family would go to Delhi to take part in Hazare’s campaign. Regarding Jan Lokpal Bill, Azad said that Jan Lokpal Bill will help in bringing a change for the royal families.

2000 + Unmarked graves to haunt the Omar

Srinagar,August 22 :An inquiry report into unmarked graves conducted by the SSP of the state human rights commission, Bashir Ahmad Yatoo, have detected that there are 2,156 unidentified bodies buried in 38 graveyards across five districts of north Kashmir.

This excludes 574 bodies that were buried as unidentified but later identified as those of locals. The probe has also found 18 mass graves and detected 20 charred bodies and five skulls.

Interlocutors want TO FREE militants

New delhi,August 21 :THE GROUP of interlocutors on Jammu and Kashmir has advised the government to release those militants who have no serious charges against them and to expedite the cases of the undertrials.

The Union home ministry revealed this in response to a Right to Information ( RTI) application filed by M AIL T ODAY . The ministry said the three interlocutors — Dileep Padgaonkar, Professor Radha Kumar and M. M. Ansari — wanted the state government to permit peaceful protests by civilians.

Islamabad,August 19 :The time may have come for an Anna Hazare type campaign against corruption in Pakistan, the Dawn newspaper said Thursday.

An editorial in the mass circulation paper said that parallels can be drawn between India and Pakistan on the issue of corruption.

“Pakistan is perceived as corrupt not just by the public mindset but also in the findings of international watchdogs that keep track of such matters,” it said.

Shehla family demands CBI probe

Bhopal 18:The family of slain Right To Information (RTI) activist Shehla Masood accused the police on Wednesday of selling a suicide theory and demanded a CBI probe into her death. Unidentified miscreants shot Masood, in the neck, from a point-blank range on Tuesday morning when she was boarding her car outside her residence at the upscale Koh-e-Fiza locality.

Some police officers had suggested the injury resulting in Masood’s death might have been ‘self-inflicted’. Medico-Legal Institute director DS Badkur made a similar observation.

New Delhi,August 17 :The growing TSUNAMI and countrywide protests against the arrest of Anna Hazare, who was sent to Tihar Jail on seven days’ judicial custody, the government did a u-turn and decided to release the Gandhian crusader hours after his incarceration.

Hazare was arrested on Tuesday morning, shortly before he was to undertake an indefinite fast to demand an all-new Lokpal Bill. He refused to accept the conditions set by the police and was arrested along with seven other associates.

Anna and Police agreement ?

New delhi,August 17: Team Anna and the Delhi police were close to an agreement on the number of days for Anna Hazare’s fast to push for a strong Lokpal Bill, police sources said late Wednesday.

According to Delhi police sources, as per a new agreement, Hazare has been given three weeks to stage the protest.

Earlier, the police had given him seven days, which was extendable, while Team Hazare was demanding a month.
