Bhopal,September 05 :Twenty first century is throwing a new concept in marriage market many countries have regularised Gay and Lesbian marriages and now a young 14 years old teenager, who claimed mystic appearance of a snake in her dreams, got married to a nonexistent reptile.

Normal Hindu rituals were followed during the marriage at Rohna Kala village of Madhya Pradesh’s Chhindwara district, 290 km from Bhopal.The unusual marriage of 14- year- old Anjali, daughter of Sampat Bhalawi, took place on Saturday with more than 400 guests and family members attending the one- hour ceremony.

Mamata to lecture at Harvard

Kolkata, September 05 :Months after forming the West Bengal government by defeating the communists, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has received an invitation from Harvard University to give a lecture on the politics and culture of the state, officials said.

Sources close to Banerjee said the formal invitation from the hallowed institution was received at the chief minister’s secretariat Saturday. Banerjee has been requested to speak on either the “Culture and Politics of Bengal” or “Demographic Changes in Bengal”.

WikiLeaks:India’s secret deal with Pakistan on Kashmir

New Delhi,September 04 :According to secret US embassy cables released by WikiLeaks, Singh told the Congressional delegation in April 2009 that India and Pakistan had made great progress prior to February 2007, when Musharraf ran into trouble.

“We had reached an understanding in back channels,” Singh told the delegation.

The cable was sent by US Charge d’Affairs Peter Burleigh to his bosses in the US State Department on April 21, 2009.

US and Britain helped Gaddafi?

London,September 04 :British and US intelligence cooperated closely with Libya, with prisoners being offered to Muammar Gaddafi’s regime under the rendition programme, a report said on Saturday citing files found in Tripoli.

The CIA was among a number of foreign intelligence services that worked with Libya’s agencies, documents found at a Libyan security agency building in Tripoli showed.

Finnish women raped in Delhi

New delhi,September 04:A 30-year-old Finnish national was on Saturday morning raped by a man she met at a pub here. The accused, Elwis Montana, a 25-year-old from Andaman and Nicobar, was arrested later in the day after the victim filed a police complaint. The woman is an executive with a multi-national company
while Montana is a translator with a Mumbai-based MNC. They weren’t known to each other.

Vatican refuses “SEX” abuse

Vatican city,September 04 :The Vatican vigorously rejected claims it sabotaged efforts by Irish bishops to report priests who sexually abused children to police and accused the Irish prime minister of making an ‘unfounded’ attack against the Holy See.

The Vatican issued a lengthy response to the Irish government following Prime Minister Enda Kenny’s unprecedented July 20 denunciation of the Vatican’s handling of abuse, in which he cited the “dysfunction, the disconnection, the elitism that dominate the culture of the Vatican to this day.”

Global economy in ”danger zone” WB

Beijing, September 04 :The world economy is stepping into a ”new danger zone,” World Bank President Robert Zoellick said on Saturday, as growth slows and investor confidence weakens.

Speaking in Beijing, Zoellick urged Europe and the United States to tackle their debt problems, and noted that near record-high food prices and volatile commodity markets are threatening the most world’s vulnerable people.

“The financial crisis in Europe has become a sovereign debt crisis, with serious implications for the Monetary Union, banks, and competitiveness of some countries,” he said.

New Delhi, September 04:Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his ministerial team Saturday declared their assets that places his own wealth at Rs.5.1 crore ($1.3 million), while Urban Development Minister Kamal Nath is richest with over Rs.250 crore ($55 million). Defence Minister A.K. Antony seems the poorest with Rs.35 lakh ($77,000).

The declaration, required under the Code of Conduct for Ministers, also follows Manmohan Singh taking strong exception to remarks by a senior member of parliament on his personal integrity during a debate last month.

Mother gets son killed to keep affair under wraps

New Delhi, September 02:A woman has been arrested allegedly for getting two contract killers to murder her son to hide her extra-marital affair, police said Thursday.

Twenty-year-old Manjeet was kidnapped from Najafgarh in Delhi, where he resided, before being killed in the Sangur district of Punjab in January this year.

The matter came to light when the contract killers, arrested Aug 31 for robbery, confessed to their other crimes, including Manjeet’s murder.

New Delhi, September 02 : Anna Hazare has returned to his village in Maharashtra but the Left seems to be taking his struggle forward.

Four Left parties will tomorrow march to Parliament Street to press for measures to tackle graft. The issues they plan to raise are similar to what Hazare had voiced when he broke his fast at Ramlila Maidan.

The five issues on which the comrades will march are: an effective Lokpal, separate mechanism to tackle corruption in the judiciary, electoral reforms, steps to unearth black money and changing policy to prevent high-level corruption.

New Delhi, September 01: Smoke emitted from one mosquito repellant coil is equivalent to those of 100 cigarettes, thus causing harm to a large number of people in India, an expert said Wednesday.

“Not many people know about it, but the damage done to your lungs by one mosquito coil is equivalent to the damage done by 100 cigarettes. This was according to a recent study conducted in Malyasia,” said Chest Research Foundation director Sandeep Salvi.

PM visits Ansari, greets him on Eid

New Delhi, August 31: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday visited Vice President Hamid Ansari and greeted him on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, an official said here.

‘Prime minister visited the vice president. The prime minister wished him and stayed for some time,’ an official told IANS.

Manmohan Singh drove down to Ansari’s official residence at 6 Maulana Azad Road at 12:30 p.m.

A host of cabinet ministers and other leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, were among those who met Ansari to greet him on the occasion, the official added.
