Ahmedabad, December 23: Alleging that Chief Minister Narendra Modi was “dramatis personae of the Gujarat carnage of 2002”, suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt Friday again sought access to certain records of post-Godhra riot period.

In a letter to the Nanavati commission which is probing the riots, Bhatt has sought directions to the DGP, ADGP state intelligence bureau and the chairman of Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing some of the cases, that he be provided with access to certain records of post-Godhra riot period and the statements made by him before SIT.

Muslim Reservation different tunes by political parties

New Delhi, December 23: The Congress and Lok Janshakti Party Friday welcomed the government’s decision for a 4.5 percent reservation for minorities, but the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) dubbed it as a poll stunt and the Communist Party of India of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and the Samajwadi Party termed the measure inadequate.

The quota decision, taken at a cabinet meeting Thursday, has been hailed by Congress leaders in Uttar Pradesh as fulfillment of an election promise.

Fake breasts and Bottom Model caught hiding cocaine

Rome.December 23 :A 33-year-old Spanish model was arrested at the Rome airport for attempting to smuggle 2.5 kg cocaine in prosthetic breasts.

The model — who arrived on a flight from San Paolo, Brazil, and identified by authorities only as M.F.M. — was arrested Wednesday after women detectives at Rome’s Leonardo da Vinci airport found crystal white powder hidden in her fake breasts and bottom.

The prominent size of the suspect’s chest and posterior drew the attention of airport customs agents leading to the search, officials said.

Killer cops:3 Guj-IPS officer booked for Ishrath murder

New Delhi,December 18 :THE CBI has booked 20 Gujarat policemen, including three IPS officers, on the charge of killing Ishrat Jahan and three others in a fake encounter seven years ago.

The CBI’s Mumbai unit has registered a case of murder and destruction of evidence against the then joint commissioner ( crime branch, Ahmedabad) P. P. Pande, former assistant commissioners G. L. Singhal and N. K. Amin, besides former DIG ( crime branch) D. G. Vanzara.

Vanzara and Amin are accused in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case as well.

Drunk teen eaten alive by Fish

Lepaz, December 09: A teenage swimmer has been eaten alive by piranhas after he leaped into a Bolivian river infested with the fish.

The unnamed 18-year-old boy was drunk when he jumped out of a canoe in the town of Rosario del Yata, 400 miles north of the capital of La Paz.

Guayaramerin police officer Daniel Cayaya said the teen bled to death after the attack, which happened last Thursday. The incident emerged yesterday when it was reported by Erbol, a local radio station.

Sonia Bithday Gift : Congress website hacked

New Delhi, December 09: Hackers broke into the Congress’ official website and replaced part of Sonia Gandhi’s profile with some objectionable material in a cyber attack coinciding with the party chief’s birthday.

“The hackers could penetrate deep inside the website and changed one paragraph,” AICC Computer Department chief Vishwajeet Prithvijeet Singh said.

Singh said that Congress websites — aicc.org.in, congress.org.in — were subjected to the attack prompting the party to “put them down” this morning.

Washington,December 09 : Weeks after Anwar al-Awlaki was killed by a U.S. drone strike in Yemen, his father is sparking controversy as radical Muslim groups claim he is now supporting his son’s terror tactics against the West.

But in a statement released to CNN, Nasser al-Awlaki says his audio speech was misinterpreted.

“A media outlet recently misunderstood me to be endorsing violence, but that was not what I intended, nor is that what I have ever endorsed.” the elder al-Awlaki wrote in a statement released to CNN Thursday through the American Civil Liberties Union.

New Delhi,December 08 :RAISING serious doubts over the police’s claims that he had recced Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore before the 2010 blast there, the family of 21- year- old Gayoor Ahmed Jamali on Wednesday pleaded his innocence, saying he had never left Bihar.

The suspected Indian Mujahideen ( IM) operative was arrested from his residence on November 24, but the local police in Madhubani had refused register an FIR against the arrest. The final- year student of almiyat at the Darul Uloom Ahmadiya Salfiya, Darbhanga, has no criminal record at the local police station.

Pilot makes teen-stewardess pregnant

London,December 08 :A teenage stewardess became pregnant with a married captain’s baby after they took British Airways’ Hug A Pilot scheme a bit too far.

The airline bosses, with the motto ‘To Fly, To Serve’, had ordered the cabin crew to socialise with cockpit colleagues to boost their morale.

It is believed that the stewardess slept with the captain earning 100,000 plus pounds-a-year during a boozy stopover between flights.

“The Hug A Pilot edict was not supposed to lead to this,” the Sun quoted an insider as saying.

Nagpur,December 07: Former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam on Tuesday revealed that former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao had asked him to make preparations for nuclear tests, which were subseuqently conducted (at Pokhran) during the NDA government, headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Kalam was addressing the probationers at the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT) here.

The former President said that in May 1996, he had received a call from Narasimha Rao asking to meet him at the earliest.
