Police on Tuesday, confirmed that they had begun an investigation and carried out a search of the studios in Rio de Janeiro, where the popular reality show is being filmed.

New DelhiJanuary 18 : Accepting Uma Bharati’s hold over OBC votes in Uttar Pradesh, BJP could field her as a candidate in the poll-bound state.

Sources in BJP said party chief Nitin Gadkari was keen on giving nomination to Bharati to woo OBC votes.

Former Chief Minister Kalyan Singh, a Lodh leader, was a prominent OBC face of the party in the state.

Sources said it was not yet clear whether Gadkari has so far taken views of other party leaders in fielding Bharati considered a face of hardcore Hindutva of BJP.

17 Bar Girls rescued

Mumbai,January 18 :Mumbai police has rescued seventeen girls, including four suspected to be minors, from a bar in central Mumbai who were forced to indulge in obscene activities for money and arrested seven persons working in the bar.

“The manager and cashier were among the seven persons of the ‘Cheers’ bar arrested under the relevant sections Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act as they forced the girls to indulge in vulgar activities to attract more business,” said Vasant Dhoble, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) of Mumbai Social Service (SS) branch.

Woman molested on Delhi-Bhopal flight

Bhopal, January 17: A man was arrested here Tuesday after a non-resident Indian woman accused him of sexually harassing her on a Delhi-Bhopal flight, police said.

The woman, who lives in Singapore, complained first to the Central Industrial Security Force and then the local police that she was sleeping when co-passenger Rajul Agrawal molested her.

The man, an officer with the Bharat Heavy Electrical Ltd, was arrested and then let off on bail, police officer G.D. Sharma told IANS.

New Delhi, January 15 : Flying colourful kites, eating piping hot dishes made of rice and jaggery, topped with dollops of ghee and cashew, braving the cold to bathe in rivers and dancing — India celebrated the harvest festival of Makar Sankranti in different forms to mark the end of the winter solstice.

Pataudi,January 11 : Actor Saif Ali Khan was on Monday anointed the tenth nawab of the Haryana town through a ceremony at his ancestral palace over a month after his father Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi’s death.

The 41- year- old actor was made the nawab at a pagdi ( turban) ceremony on Monday morning at the Ibrahim Palace, where the heads of 52 villages tied a white turban around his head as mother Sharmila Tagore, sisters Saba and Soha looked on.

Khurshid in EC notice for 9% Muslim quota

New Delhi,January 10 : The Uttar Pradesh election authorities have served a show-cause notice on Congress nominee from Farrukhabad Louise Khurshid over her husband Law minister Salman Khurshid’s promise to voters of granting nine per cent sub-quota for backward Muslims in the state if voted to power.

The Law minister while campaigning for his wife Louise in Farrukhabad yesterday had promised to the electorate that if Congress was voted to power in the state it would enhance the sub-quota to Muslims to 9 per cent within the 27 per cent quota for Other Backward Classes (OBCs).

Madhuri Gupta granted bail after 21 months in jail

Delhi,January 10 :Suspended Indian diplomat Madhuri Gupta arrested over 21 months ago allegedly for passing country’s sensitive information to Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI, was today granted bail by a Delhi court.
While enlarging Gupta on bail, Additional Sessions Judge Pawan Kumar Jain, however, restrained her from leaving Delhi without prior permission of the court.
The court also warned her against trying to contact any prosecution witness in the case.

Maya worth 87 crores ?

New Delhi,January 10: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati has topped the list of chief ministers in the five election-bound states with maximum assets: worth Rs.87 crore, according to the National Election Watch and the Association for Democratic Reforms.

‘RTI responses from five states showed Mayawati has the highest assets at Rs.87 crore,’ said the study. ‘Chief Minister of Manipur Okram Ibobi Singh has the lowest assets worth — just Rs.6 lakh.’
