John doesn’t bother about Bips’ Katfight

Mumbai, June 27: Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif don’t share a cordial relationship.

Now, that’s not exactly new. But Bips’ boyfriend John Abraham says he won’t play mediator between his girlfriend and his New York co-star Kat.

“Bipasha is a grown up, mature woman. So is Katrina. They are both experienced enough to sort out their issues. I was there to play the character assigned to me in the film and not to act as a mediator between Katrina and Bipasha,” says John.

The actor believes he doesn’t need to play the role of a pacifier.

AP to weed out bogus ration cards

Hyderabad, June 26: The Andhra Pradesh Government today announced that all bogus ration cards would be weeded out by November by undertaking an elaborate physical verification survey.

Talking to newspersons on the sideline of a two-day District Collectors Conference here, Revenue Minister D Prasada Rao said the Government wanted to build a database based on IRIS de-duplication and physical verification of ration card datas.

The Government decided to identify and weed out duplicate ration cards by using Optical Mark Recognition(OMR) sheets.

Envoy says US arms sales policy towards Taiwan unchanged

Taipei, June 26: A top US envoy to Taiwan Friday said Washington will continue its arms sales policy towards Taiwan, despite China’s objection.

“We do not consult with Beijing on our security cooperation and arms decisions involving Taiwan,” said Stephen Young, director of American Institute in Taiwan, the de facto US embassy on the island, in a news conference.

Deputy Tahsildar in ACB net for bribe

Hyderabad, June 26: Kalidindi Mandal Deputy Tahsildar Shaik Latheef Pasha was trapped by the ACB officials at his office today when he accepted Rs 5,000 as bribe from a complainant for doing an official favour.

The amount and connected file was seized from the accused, who was arrested.

The accused will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases Vijayawada, a press release here said.

Cong’s Greater Hyderabad meet postponed

ICC promise Pakistan support despite World Cup snub

London, June 26: International cricket’s leading administrator insisted Thursday he was doing all he could to support Pakistan after confirming the troubled country would not host matches at the 2011 World Cup.

However, International Cricket Council president David Morgan, speaking to reporters on Thursday after the second day of the global governing body’s meeting here at Lord’s, also said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had accepted the help of a “task team” in retaining its position in international cricket.

Senior couple fight armed robbers, snatch away pistol

Noida, June 26: A senior citizen and his wife thwarted attempts by two armed assailants to rob them in Noida’s Sector 11 on Wednesday night.

According to S L Sharma and his wife Suprabah’s complaint to the police, two men on a motorcycle attempted to rob them while they were on an after-dinner walk near their house around 11.30 on Wednesday night. The assailants, however, fled after the couple put up a fight and Sharma, in fact, managed to snatch their pistol.

Mumbai, June 25: During the shoot for his upcoming Film “New York”, John Abraham was quite the dare-devil as he decided to do his own stunts even though the director and stunt-director had briefed him with the risks involved in the shot.

But John was unaware of how this risky stunt would turn into an incident he would narrate to his friends later.

Apparently the director Kabir Khan, was not happy that the movie had a few stunts, so he decided to add a few more, one of them included John hanging out from a 20th Floor window.

Delhi Police discount rape charges

New Delhi, June 25: The Delhi Police on Thursday claimed that the Inderpuri rape case involving the SHO and four constables of the police station was fabricated by the alleged victim.

Police sources said that the woman fabricated the case of gang rape to protect her husband, who was wanted because of his alleged involvement in satta dealing.

In some of the clinching evidences establishing the police claim, the SHO was not present at the spot at the time of the reported crime, sources said.
