AP CM to undertake surprise visits for benefit of people

Hyderabad, June 26: Giving District Collectors three month’s time to gear ”delivery mechanism”, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today announced that he would undertake surprise visits to villages starting from Dasara to see for himself whether the benefits of the welfare schemes reached the targetted people at the grassroots level.

Inaugurating a two-day District Collector’s conference, the maiden one after assuming office for a second term, Dr Reddy said ”the Government is keen on ensuring delivery of the benefits of ongoing schemes to intended beneficiaries instead of taking new ones”.

Pointing out that people had adjudged the Government’s performance in the polls ”only as okay, go ahead, but not very good. People have not given us distinction. We have to work hard to fulfill the people’s aspiration. Let us all rededicate ourselves to provide good governance with compassion, courage and commitment in the next five years”.

The Chief Minister said the people had rejected the host of ”free promises”, including Cash Transfer Scheme(CTS) and Colour Television sets and free rice, made by the Opposition and preferred the ruling Congress comparing the trackrecord of both on credibility.
