Producer held for molesting singer

Mumbai, August 29: A Bollywood producer was arrested by the Mumbai police for allegedly molesting a woman pop singer on Friday night, sources said.

According to the sources, the incident took place during a launching of music album here at Time and Ogden hall in Mumbai’s Andheri locality.

The drunken producer Ashok Khullar climbed on the stage and started molesting the pop singer on full public view.

The singer has lodged a complaint against Khullar at Amboli police station. The police have registered a case against Khullar under IPC section 504, 506.

Akram: Aamer needs to gain weight

Karachi, June 24: Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan fast bowler, has said the 17-year-old left-arm seamer Mohammad Aamer needs to put on weight to add more power to his bowling.

Aamer who called for his selection to the national side in July last year, made his international debut in the World Twenty 20 and took six wickets at a strike-rate of 24 from seven matches. He played a crucial role in the final, dismissing Tillakaratne Dilshan for a duck in the first over.

IMF to talk to Sri Lanka on $1.9 bn loan

Colombo, March 22: An International Monetary Fund (IMF) team is to hold talks with Sri Lanka Sunday and finalise its request for a $1.9 billion standby loan to prop up the country’s dwindling foreign exchange reserves, media reports here said.
Responding to reports that conditions may be attached to the IMF loan, a Central Bank official said that there had ‘so far been no talks on conditions’.

Controversial question on Azamgarh scrapped

Lucknow, February 28: A controversial question on Azamgarh’s alleged links with terror has been scrapped from the Uttar Pradesh civil services preliminary examination following objections from the Ulema Council, it was announced Saturday.
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission said in a statement: ‘After giving thought to the objections from a certain community, the question has been scrapped.’

The commission has also blacklisted the person who set the question, the statement said.

Haryana hurry for auction bid to bypass new norms

New Delhi, February 24: The Haryana government hurrying to auction off what it calls the”remaining stones” of Khori Jamalpur and Sirohi may be a bid to bypass a new set of guidelines that Haryana officials agreed to during a meeting with the central empowered committee (CEC) of the Supreme Court.
