Two children drown in lakes

A nine-year-old boy was drowned after he accidentally slipped into Hussainsagar lake.

According to Ramgopalpet police, the deceased, V Balraj, went to Hussainsagar lake along with his mother and seven-year-old sister Saritha on Sunday evening. Both Balraj and Saritha fell into the lake while playing. While their mother saved Saritha, Balraj slipped into the lake and got drowned. They were residents of Anand Nagar in Khairtabad.

Four persons commit suicide in different places

A 70-year-old man committed suicide allegedly due to financial problems.

According to Keesra police, the deceased, K Bikya of Nagaram, took the extreme step by consuming some unknown poison on June 22 and died at the Gandhi Hospital on Monday. He ran into financial crisis after marrying off his two daughters. Recently, his eldest son-in-law had abandoned his daughter which deteriorated his financial conditions consequently driving him to suicide.

Two persons die after falling from height

A 35-year-old watchman died after falling into the lift shaft from the first floor of a building in KPHB area.

The incident happened on Sunday evening when the deceased, D Ramulu, accidentally fell down into the lift shaft. He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead. He was a native of Krishna district, KPHB Police said.

15yr old boy killed in Road accident

A 15-year-old boy succumbed to the injuries which he suffered when the bike he was riding skidded.

The deceased, Syed Moosa Hussaini, met with the accident on June 6 near Pargi Court. He was admitted to the Osmania General Hospital where he died on Sun day night, Pargi police said. (INN)

President Mukherjee arrives in Hyderabad for southern sojourn

The Telangana Government has extended a warm welcome to President of India Pranab Mukherji, who arrived here on 10-day Southern Sojourn, at Air Force Station at Hakimpet on Monday.

The President was received at the Air Force Station by Governor ESL Narasimhan, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and other dignitaries. In a rare fete of sorts, KCR touched the feet of Pranab Mukherjee after welcoming him with a bouquet.

Digital Telangana programme to be launched from 1st July

After ‘Make in India’ and ‘Swachh Bharat’, the Government of India is launching its 3rd major campaign, called Digital India with the objectives of enabling digital empowerment of citizens, facilitating digital infrastructure as a utility to every citizen and providing governance and services on demand.

Digital India will be launched through a week-long programme starting 1st July.

AP to form 6 sub-committees including bankers to drive growth

In order to give a thrust to economic activity in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu suggested forming six sub-committees for agriculture, horticulture, livestock, fisheries, MSME and affordable housing.

These sub-committees, the Chief Minister said, will identify growth drivers in each sector and monitor how/why an entity (to which credit has been lent) is non-performing and give hand-holding until it begins performing to generate revenue.

Marri seeks Talasani’s dismissal as Minister

Congress senior leader and former minister Marri Sashidhar Reddy on Monday demanded the dismissal of Talasani Srinivas Yadav as the minister from State Cabinet.

Speaking to media persons here, Marri said that the Constitutional Bench of Supreme Court, in its judgment delivered on 14-2-2007 in the Rajendra Singh Rana Vs Swami Prasad Maurya case, observed that the indecision by the Speaker on the applications seeking disqualification cannot be merely in the realm of procedure. He said that the judgment and observations of the Constitutional Bench will be binding on all the courts.

KCR suppressing employees unions

Congress senior leader and former MP Ponnam Prabhakar has accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of suppressing the employees unions by luring their leaders with big posts.

Speaking to media persons in Assembly premises here on Monday, Ponnam said that the State Government did not resolve the problems of employees during the last one year. He said that the bifurcation of employees was yet to be completed and the entire division process has been turned into a puzzle. He said that the government also failed to resolve issues concerning the retired employees.

Flesh trade racket busted, seven held

Police today busted a prostitution racket and arrested seven persons on the charge of running brothels in different parts of the city.

According to police, M Veerababu and R Ramesh are allegedly organisers of brothel houses which they have been running in different areas of Hyderabad and Secunderabad since the last eight years.

They were also involved in similar cases and wanted in four cases, a release from City Police stated.

Vajpayee Nagar searched, 12 bikes seized, 18 held

Cyberabad’s Petbasheerabad police early this morning conducted a Cordon & Search operation at Vajpayee Nagar colony under supervision of Joint Commissioner of Police Shashidhar Reddy, Addl DCP SOT Ramchandhara Reddy, four ACPs, 12 Inspectors, 30 SI’s and 150 men including AR & TSSP Force.

Former Union minister and AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh today said his party leaders will file a PIL on cash-for-vote scam in which Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s voice was proved. Both the chief ministers – Chandrababu Naidu and K Chandrasekhar Rao — are involved in the scam, which should be proved by the CBI to bring out the truth, he said.
