Release funds on priority, KTR asks Nihalchand

Panchayat Raj Minister KT Rama Rao today urged Union Panchayat Raj Minister Nihal Chand to give priority and ensure that arrears of 13th Finance Commission funds and others from central pool, be released with immediate effect to Telangana State. KTR called on Nihal Chand at Agricultural University here and apprised him of prestigious programs including “Our Village- Our Plan, Harithaharam, roads in rural areas, plan to provide permanent shelter with construction of two bed room houses to the poor and weaker sections and providing basic amenities.

Angry Naidu asks party MP to give explanation within 24 hours

Reacting to the uproar in the social media over the atrocious remarks of TDP MP Ravindra Babu towards Army personnel recently, AP Chief Minister and TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed his displeasure and directed his party MP to submit his explanation within 24 hours on the issue. He also made it clear that his party and the government have utmost respect towards the Army personnel and have nothing to do with the MP’s outbursts against them.

DS may join TRS

Former PCC President and ex-minister D Srinivas is most likely to join the Telangana Rashtra Samithi soon.

While the rumours were doing rounds since Tuesday morning about Srinivas’ possible exit from Congress, the former PCC chief fired a letter to AICC President Sonia Gandhi complaining about the attitude of party General Secretary and incharge of Telangana affairs Digvijay Singh. The letter was disclosed to the media after DS met TRS Secretary General K Keshav Rao at latter’s residence on Tuesday.

KCR falls sick, skips Raj Bhavan dinner

Citing ill health, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao skipped the dinner hosted by Governor ESL Narasimham at Raj Bhavan in honour of President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday evening.

Interestingly, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, who skipped the official ceremony to receive the President at the Air Force Station, Hakimpet on Monday, attended the dinner. Both Deputy Chief Ministers of Telangana, Kadiyam Srihari and Mohammed Mahmood Ali, and other ministers and officials of Telangana Government were present at Raj Bhavan for the Governor’s dinner.

TDP leaders accuses KCR of damaging their party in Telangana

TDP leaders on Tuesday accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao of hatching a conspiracy to weaken Telugu Desam Party in Telangana State.

Speaking to media person here, TDP Telangana unit president L Ramana and former minister E Peddireddy alleged that the ‘Cash for Vote’ case and other related developments were part of the conspiracy hatched by KCR to damage TDP. Accusing TRS Government of implicating TDP leaders in false cases, they said that their party would continue to fight for people’s cause and foisting of cases would not deter them from serving the people.

Tunisia makes arrests over Sousse terror attack

Tunisia has arrested a “significant number” of suspects in the terrorist attack on foreign tourists at the beach resort of Sousse that killed at least 38 and injured dozens, Interior Minister Mohamed Najem Gharsalli said on Monday.

Gharsalli said “the first part of the network” responsible for the gun attack at the beachfront Imperial Marhaba Hotel had been detained, local Radio Shems Fm reported.

“We have begun with the arrests of a first group, a significant number of people belonging to the network behind this criminal terrorist,” Gharsalli said.

Majority of Pakistan’s heatwave victims homeless: minister

Most of the victims of last week’s killer heatwave in Pakistan’s Sindh Province were homeless, beggers or drug addicts living on the streets here, a minister said today as the death toll reached nearly 1300.

“The inquiry into the deaths of nearly 1300 people from the heatwave had found that two-thirds of the victims were homeless,” health minister Jam Mehtab Dahar told PTI.

Iraq PM ‘retires’ army chief of staff: spokesman

Iraqi premier Haider al-Abadi has “retired” the army’s chief of staff, the most senior officer removed since jihadists overran large parts of the country last year, his spokesman said today.

General Babaker Zebari “has been retired” on Abadi’s orders, Saad al-Hadithi told AFP, without providing further details.

Abadi has sacked dozens of army and police officers in an effort to restructure and improve security forces that performed disastrously when the Islamic State jihadist group launched an offensive last June, overrunning major areas north and west of Baghdad.

A prominent Islamic State leader was killed in airstrikes launched by the US-led international coalition west of the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.

General Najim al-Jabouri, commander of security operations in the Nineveh province, said on Monday that coalition aircraft targeted the car belonging to Abdullah Mohamed al-Huran, the military commander of Mosul’s eastern front.

Electricity expense of Kejriwal: Rs 91,000 in 2 months

The electricity bill of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Civil Lines residence was about Rs 91,000 for the months of April and May, according to an RTI reply.

The General Administration Department of Delhi Government has furnished the copies of electricity bill of Kejriwal’s Civil Lines residence running into Rs 91,000. The RTI query was filed by Vivek Garg, an advocate and RTI activist.

Delhi BJP, however, claimed that the bill was over Rs 1 lakh and said that it would also seek power bill details of all AAP ministers.

President to stay in city till July 8

Six district judges transferred
