HC adjourns RTI Commissioners’ case

The High Court has adjourned the case pertaining to appointment of RTI Commissioners to two weeks.

The court has said that it will combine the previous petitions and take it up after two weeks.

The appointment has become a controversy with social organizations challenging the appointment saying that it has become a political rehabilitation scheme. Some of the members were in active public life, they protesters pointed out.

Sri Lakshmi bail plea posted to Tuesday

The CBI special court has posted the hearing of IAS officer Sri Lakshmi’s bail petition to Tuesday.

Sri Lakshmi, accused in OMC mining case, has applied for extension of her interim bail on health grounds. She surrendered before the court on expiry of her bail period.

The Court said that a decision would be taken only after the jail authorities submit her medical report given by Osmania and Gandhi hospitals.

Man kills daughter,ends life

In a gory incident, a father killed his five-year-old daughter and also ended his life by committing suicide. The incident occurred on Sunday at Nemali in Krishna district.

The man who killed the daughter is identified as resident of the Sairam Tanda in Julurupadu mandal of Khammam district. The man’s son was also found in an unconscious state at the place. On information from shepherds, police rushed to the spot and sent the son to hospital. Reasons for the ghastly act are not yet known.

Spurned youth attacks woman in Hyderabad; arrested

A jilted youth on Sunday allegedly attacked a young woman with a sharp weapon and injured her, after she married another man despite getting engaged to the former, police said.

The accused, Raju, was arrested and booked on charge of attempt to murder following a complaint, they said.

Raju attacked the woman, a nurse, with a sickle on her back near a bus stop in Kandukur area on the outskirts of the city after noticing her there with her husband, they said.

Confidence trickster nabbed,cash & ATM card seized

Today the Cyber Crime Police, CCS, DD, Hyderabad nabbed one Kurangi Benna Vidyasagar, 20, of Sampathnagar, Agraharam, Guntur district, who cheated innocence people especially aged persons, who could not operate the ATM card properly.

Dy. Commissioner of Police, Detective Department CCS, Hyderabad stated that the modus operandi of the accused was to introduce himself as a mechanic of ATM Machine or security guard. After gaining confidence of the card holder, he operates their ATM cards by taking their PIN number.

Absconding undertrial nabbed by Task Force

Today, sleuths of Commissioner’s Task Force, South Zone Team, apprehended a Jail absconding accused Syed. Feroz wanted by the Chilkalguda Police.

The accused Syed. Feroz, 26, son of Syed. Ibrahim, of Bandlaguda, committed a number of property offences. A notorious property offender, he was apprehended by Rajendranagar Police and produced before the local Court in November last.

Lover couple murdered in Khammam

It was a ghastly act. Some unidentified persons allegedly murdered a lover couple in a mango garden near Markodu village under Illendu sub-division of Khammam district on Sunday.

The murdered lovers were identified as Rambabu and Sarala. Rambabu was working as a government teacher in Chintoor mandal. The two were in love since some time. Someone attacked and killed them when they were meeting in the mango garden, it is suspected.

Police are investigating the murder. They are also trying to find out whether this was honor killing.

Union minister S Jaipal Reddy here on Sunday said he had an inseparable bond with the Mahbubnagar district.
Inaugurating Kalwakurti Lift Irrigation Scheme and participating in several developmental works in the district, Jaipal Reddy said he was always called as “Mahbubnagar Jaipal Reddy” wherever he contested and won. He said he was greatly indebted to the people of Kalwakurthi as he began his political career in the town.

YSRCP objects to CBI JD remarks

Taking strong objection to the CBI remarks that there is no deadline for the investigation of the 26 GOs case, YSR Congress has said vested interests are trying to keep YS Jagan Mohan Reddy away from the people as they are scared of his growing popularity.

“The recent Tamil Nadu example is another blur on the CBI style or functioning and a CBI official telling media that there was no commitment on closing the 26 GOs investigation case before March 31 is nothing but buckling under political pressure,” party spokesperson Ambati Rambabu told reporters here on Sunday.

Arrested Hizb militant was on way to surrender?

He Was Syed Liyaqat Shah, a former militant of Al Barq terror outfit, on his way to surrender to Kashmir police when the Delhi Police claimed to have nabbed him for planning terror strike in the national capital?

His arrest, announced by Delhi Police’s Special Commissioner (Special Cell) S N Srivastava Friday, has left the authorities in Jammu and Kashmir upset and they were planning to take up the matter with Union Home Ministry.

Police conduct search operations in AP

Search operations were conducted in the Munderi forest area of the district in the wake of reports of movement of armed people suspected to be Maoists in a tribal colony, police said Friday.

The local people had complained that six people armed with weapons had came to Chembra adivasi colony last night and distributed leaflets urging people to resort to revolt, police said.

Forest Officials and police had conducted combing operations last night in the Munderi forest area, they said.

Delhi terror attack planned to avenge Afzal Guru’s hanging: Police

The Delhi Police said Friday said the alleged Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist was instructed by his handlers in Pakistan to find targets in Delhi where fidayeen attack could be carried out.

The alleged operative Liaqat Ali was on way to Delhi in a train when he was arrested from Gorakhpur, police said.

He was arrested from Uttar Pradesh with police Friday claiming that they have unearthed a plot to create terror in the national capital ahead of Holi.

Seven arrested with illegal arms in Rajasthan

Seven persons were today arrested with illegal arms and live cartridges in Rajasthan’s Kota and Barmer districts, police said.

Of the seven, four persons who were planning a robbery were held today in Kota with four rifles, guns, over 140 live cartridges, chili powder, Rs 1.18 lakh cash and two cars, they said.

Revamp in State Cong. Structure in the offing

In a bid to strengthen and revamp the organizational set-up, PCC President Botsa Satyanarayana has dissolved all district committees of the party.

Botsa, who returned from Delhi after discussions with party state in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad, had taken the decision immediately after his return. There has been many crossovers and groupism has been rampant in many districts. The new district committees will be formed by April 15, he said.

This move will give a fillip to the party which will be fighting the local bodies elections and the general elections as well.

Medical exam of Sri Lakshmi on March 30

The medical tests on IAS officer Sri Lakshmi are not possible to be completed before March25, doctors have said.

The Osmania Hospital Medical Board has said that it is not possible to conduct medical tests on Sri Lakshmi before 25th as directed by the court. The board has said that Sri Lakshmi should be brought to the hospital at 9 am on March 30 for the medical examination.

CBI court summons KVP

The CBI special court on Friday summoned Rajya Sabha member KVP Ramachandra Rao to appear before it on Saturday at 9.30 am.

KVP was a close associate of Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy. He was asked to appear before the court in connection with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s disproportionate assets case.

Earlier, KVP Ramachandra Rao has appeared before the court in the Emaar case.

No bail to Prof Kodandaram; JAC calls for bandh on March 24

A local court has rejected the bail of Prof M Kodandaram, Etela Rajender, Jupalli Kirshna Rao and others who were arrested during Sadak Bandh.

Alampur Junior Civil Judicial Court has ruled that the leaders of the Sadak Bandh were booked under Sections 147, 148, 341, 188, 427, 109 R/w 149 along with PDPP Act.

The cases were registered against 11 persons, of which three are absconding. As the investigation is still in progress and three persons are absconding, it is not possible to grant bail, the court ruled.

CBI is puppet in Govt hands, alleges YSRCP

Ujjwal Nikam hails death to Yakub, wants US to act against Tiger Memon

UjjwalNikam, the special public prosecutor in the 1993 blasts case, hailed Supreme Court’s verdict upholding death sentence to YakubMemon, brother of absconding accused Tiger Memon, believed to be hiding in Pakistan.

“I am very happy that death sentence to Yakub has been upheld by the Supreme Court. The death sentence awarded to Yakub should result in bringing pressure on Pakistan, which will find it difficult to shelter Tiger Memon and Dawood Ibrahim any more,” Nikam told reporters after the verdict on Thursday.

Severe ties with Pakistan, demands VHP

In the wake of Supreme Court’s observation that Pakistan and its spy agency ISI were involved in the 1993 serial blasts at Mumbai, the VHP today said India should sever ties with the neighbouring country “until at least” they hand over Dawood Ibrahim and other accused.

BSF constable’s wife dies of burn injuries

Wife of a BSF constable today died after sustaining burn injuries while filling kerosene in the cooking heater.

The victim, wife of constable S K Jena who is attached with BSF officers mess at Panthachowk, was rushed to the 92 Base Hospital of Army at Badamibagh where she succumbed to her wounds, police said.

The mishap took place at Jena’s residential quarters, police said, adding a case into the matter has been registered and investigations are on.

RSS raises concern over use of adjectives with Guru

Jammu and Kashmir wing of RSS today expressed concern over the description of the hanged Parliament attack convict, as Afzal Guru “saheb” in the state Assembly.

“Use of respectful words for a terrorist like Afzal Guru is dangerous for the integrity and security of the country.

Elected representatives of the state who swear by the Constitution of India, should be cautious about it,” RSS state president, Brig (retd) Suchet Singh told reporters here.

Andhra Pradesh government today faced an embarrassing situation in the state Assembly as ministers stayed away from the proceedings, forcing Deputy Speaker Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka to direct Chief Whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy to call the ministers in.

Even Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was confined to his chamber in the Assembly when the Deputy Speaker raised the issue during a debate on motion of thanks to the Governor’s address.
