Rowdy sheeter sent to 5-day ACB custody in cash-for-bail scam

The Anti Corruption Bureau Court on Saturday remanded rowdy-sheeter Yadagiri Rao, who allegedly brokered the cash-for-bail deal between CBI first additional special judge T Pattabhirama Rao and illegal mining accused Gali Janardhan Reddy, to ACB custody for five days.

The court while granting custody of Yadagiri Rao from Monday, directed the officials to question him from morning 10 to 5 pm in the presence of his lawyers and asked the officials not to use any third degree methods during interrogation.

Govt to withdraw cases booked for Telangana agitation

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to withdraw prosecution against a number of persons booked for allegedly participating in the separate Telangana agitation.

Government Orders (GOs) were issued by the state government for withdrawal of prosecution against about 40 people, including several prominent leaders of the pro- Telangana students, in connection with the cases registered at the Osmania University police station here.

The state government had earlier said that the cases registered against the pro-Telangana students would be lifted.

CVC seeks report from CBI on info leak in Jagan DA case

Central Vigilance Commission has sought a report from the CBI on alleged “leakage” of information related to the ongoing investigations in the disproportionate assets case against Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

“Some people from AP have met me complaining that there has been a leakage of certain investigation. So we have called for a report from the CBI on this.

Two DIGs transferred in city

In a minor reshuffle, the State government has transferred two IPS officers and gave them postings on Friday.According to the GO issued on Friday, B. Malla Reddy, who stands posted as Deputy Inspector General of Police,
APSP Battalions, was posted as Joint Commissioner of Police, CAR Headquarters, Hyderabad City in the existing ex-cadre post.

Sanjay Kumar Jain, who stands transferred was now posted as Joint Commissioner of Police (Coordination & Security), Hyderabad City in the existing vacancy.

Modi will never become PM: Swami Agnivesh

Social activist Swami Agnivesh today said here that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi would never become the Prime Minister of the country because of his “mishandling of 2002 Godhra riots”.

Jundal used nine emails, 4 SIM cards: Report

Abu Jundal, the alleged Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operative who handled the 26/11 attackers, continues to sing before the Indian investigators.

The Special Cell of Delhi Police, which is interrogating Jundal, is believed to have learnt that the LeT operative used four emails and carried nine international SIM cards brought from Saudi Arabia and Pakistan to coordinate his alleged terror-related activities.

Cash for bail scam: Custody petition of Yadagiri Rao posted to Friday

The CBI petition for extension of custody of Yadagiri Rao, who was arrested in connection with the cash-for-bail scam, was posted to Friday by the ACB court here.

ACB authorities have filed the petition seeking extension of the custody of Yadagiri Rao, who was charged with brokering the deal offering bribe to CBI Judge Pattabhi Rama Rao for granting bail to Gali Janardhana Reddy, who was arrested for illegal mining. ACB sought extension of Yadagiri’s custody, stating that it needed to question him further to get some more details of the case.

Dalit massacre prime accused sent to judicial remand

The Criminal Court at Nampally on Thursday remanded Botsa Vasudeva Naidu, the prime accused in massacre of Dalits at Lakshmipeta in Srikakulam district, to 14 days judicial custody.

The court sent Vasudeva Naidu to judicial remand after the CID officials produced him before the court. The court also gave Prison Transit warrant to Botsa Vasudevanaidu following a request from the CID to shift him to Srikakulam as part of investigations. The court directed that he be lodged in Central Jail in Srikakulam during the remand period.

Indian Mujahideen banned in UK

Britain today banned terrorist outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM), citing the group’s “indiscriminate mass casualty attacks” in India which “posed a threat” to British nationals there.

Members of UK’s House of Commons unanimously approved a motion last night proscribing IM and placing it on the list of 47 organisations that have been banned from functioning in UK.

NIA has joined Jundal interrogation: Delhi Police

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has joined in the interrogation of Abu Jundal Hamza in a case related to David Coleman Headley, Delhi Police told a city court on Wednesday.

Both Hamza, an Indian national, and Headley, a Pakistani American, have confessed to their role in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav adjourned to Thursday the hearing on the NIA plea for custody of Jundal in a fresh case, saying he was under the custody of Delhi Police’s anti-terror Special Cell till July 5.

People fed up with Congress: Mulayam

Congress would not come back to power at the Centre as people were fed up with it, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said on Wednesday.

The SP chief said regional parties would register victories in the states and play role in national politics.

“People are fed up with the Congress… it neither did any work which was in peoples interest, nor fulfilled the promises made by it,” Yadav was quoted as telling his partymen here in a party release.

RBI to continue taking steps to tame inflation: Subbarao

Amid high inflation and concerns over progress of monsoon, which has a direct bearing on farming, the Reserve Bank today said it is “sensitive” to price rise and will continue to take steps to deal with the situation.

“We are sensitive to it (inflation). We are committed in bringing inflation under control. We will continue to take all our efforts…,” RBI Governor D Subbarao said at an Indian Overseas Bank event here.

AP to roll out Aadhaar-based services

Andhra Pradesh is racing to become the first state in the country to roll out Aadhaar- based services.

The Centre has informed the state authorities that five districts — Hyderabad, Chittoor, East Godavari, Ranga Reddy and Anantapur — have been identified for initiating certain Government schemes based on Aadhaar (unique identification number) on a pilot basis.

Andhra Pradesh has achieved an enrolment of 5.20 crore people, accounting for 26 per cent of the country-wide enrolment figure.

Call data leakage: Sakshi reporter seeks anticiapatory

Yadagiri Reddy, correspondent of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy’s Sakshi newspaper has applied for anticipatory bail in the case pertaining to the leakage of the call data of the CBI JD Lakshmi Narayana and his classmate Vasi Reddy Chandrabala.

On a complaint from Chandrabala, the state Human Rights Commission has directed the police to investigate the matter. Consequently, Cyber Crime police have registered a case naming Yadagiri Reddy as the prime accused. Police said that they found that the Nacharam Inspector Srinivasa Rao had provided the data on the request of Yadagiri Reddy.

Two-Year old dies as roti stucks in throat

A two-year-old girl died here on Wednesday, when the chapati(Roti) she was eating got stuck in her throat.The incident occurred at a baby care center in R K Puram near LB Nagar on the city outskirts.

The girl felt breathlessness when the chapatti(Roti) piece got stuck in her throat and the care center organizers have rushed her to the Kamineni Hospital.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday positively responded to the proposal of completing the remaining Aadhaar card enrolment works by the State Registrar and Civil Supplies Department.

Reviewing the Aadhaar card enrolment works with the Chief Secretary and other top officials at Secretariat, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the time frame for completion of enrolments in the areas allotted to the State registrar and status on use of the Aadhaar number in the delivery mechanism were entrusted to IT&C Department and State Resident Data Hub.

PM responded positively to judicial probe: Vijayamma

YSR Congress party honorary president Y S Vijayamma on Wednesday appealed to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to institute a judicial probe into the functioning of Central Bureau of Investigation, which is probing disproportionate assets case against her son and Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy.

AP minister official tour to USA despite ban creates flutter

Less than a month after the state government renewed a ban on foreign trips by ministers and bureaucrats, Andhra Pradesh Information and Public Relations Minister DK Aruna on Tuesday embarked on a 16-day “official” trip to the USA.

The minister, according to an order issued by the General Administration Department, is supposed to attend the 12th American Telugu Association (ATA) Conference and Youth Convention in Atlanta on “official visit”.
