In a major setback to the Central Bureau of Investigation, the CBI Special Court at Nampally on Monday dismissed its petition seeking permission to conduct Narco test on both YSR Congress president and Kadapa MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and his financial auditor Vijay Sai Reddy in connection with the disproportionate assets case.

Ten cops depose before tribunal against SIMI

The unlawful Activities (Prevention) tribunal today organized a sitting in Hyderabad, in connection with the extension of ban on Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). On first day of sitting ten police officers (witnesses) that were associated with the investigation of terror related cases were subjected to cross-examination by the SIMI’s counsel.

Indiramma Bata’ programme to be launched in every AP dist: CM

Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday said that the ‘Indiramma Bata’, a new mass contact programe, will be launched in every district of the state to assess whether the government schemes were reaching people at the grass-root level.

Speaking to reporters at the residence of Rajya Sabha MP T Ratnabhai here, the chief minister claimed that the Centre and the Andhra Pradesh government had launched several welfare and development schemes for the benefit of common man.

AIMPLB flays government for Wakf Bill

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board today alleged the attitude of Union Law Ministry and Ministry of Minorities Affairs was uncooperative and irrational in the matter of Wakf.

KTR demands regularization of 104 staff

Seven hurt in Gas cylinder blast

Seven persons were grievously injured when a gas cylinder exploded in an apartment in Padmaraonagar here on Sunday.
According to the information, one Sridhar, a businessman, dealing with electrical goods invited his relatives and friends as a family member’s birthday coincided with the Bonalu festival.

When Sridhar’s wife was cooking food, the gas cylinder got burst. Sridhar, his wife and other family members were injured in the accident.

Woman journalist shot and injured in Arunachal

A woman journalist was shot at by unknown gunmen and critically injured today when she was entering her office here in Arunachal Pradesh.

Gunmen shot journalist Tongam Rina of the Arunachal Times from close range when she was entering her office at about 6.15 pm, police said.

Thirty-four-year-old Rina is the associate editor of Arunachal Times, a popular daily and the first English newspaper of the state owned by former chief minister Gegong Apang.

Godhra train carnage convict dies in Vadodara Jail

A convict in the 2002 Godhra train burning case, where 59 people were burnt to death after a mob attack on Sabarmati Express, passed away in Vadodara Central Jail today following heart attack, police said.

“Shaukat alias Bhano Farooq Patadia (33) complained of chest pain this afternoon and was rushed to the Sayajirao Gaekwad hospital. He died of heart attack,” Jail Superintendent, Vadodara Central Jail, R F Sangada said.

NHRC slams IPS officer Anjaneyulu for fake encounters

The National Human Rights Commission has expressed anger at the IPS officer PA Sitaramanjaneyulu for killing innocent people in the name of encounters when he was the SP of Guntur and Kurnool districts.

Sitaramanjaneyulu is facing charges of engineering 16 encounters during his tenure as SP of districts. The NHRC directed the Central government to ensure that ex gratia was paid to the families of the victims.

T-JAC extends support to TDP

Techi held for sending obscene emails to girl

One Makam Naga Vamsi Krishna, 24, working in Bengaluru, was arrested on Wednesday at his native place Kurnool for allegedly harassing a young female software professional by hacking her email IDs and creating and distributing her obscene email IDs.

Following a complaint, the Cyber Crime PS registered a case in Cr.No.36/2012 U/s.66, 66-A IT Act 2000, Sec.506, 509 IPC. The case was investigated by K. Ravi Kumar, Inspector of Police, Cyber Crime PS, CID, Hyderabad.

Hukka centre raided in old city,one held

Following a tip-off, South Zone Team of the Commissioner’s Task Force, raided “Starlight Hukkah House, Barkas” on Thursday and apprehended one Omer Ahmed Afari alias Omer, manager, who was running the Hukka Centre without obtaining licence from the competent authorities.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Commissioner’s Task Force, Hyderabad City, in a pressnote has stated that Omer was found allowing teenagers in the centre for inhaling Hukka. The police seized 20 Hukka equipment and 16 different flavour cups from the Hukka House.

Madhu Yashki too dismisses KCR claim of T

Nizamanabad Congress MP Madhu Yashki Goud has made it clear that there was no truth in the claim of TRS Chief K Chandrasekhara Rao that there were clear signals from the Centre on formation of separate Telangana State.

Speaking to the media here, Madhu Yashiki said that there was no truth in the claim of KCR that Telangana State would be formed in two months. He also clarified that they had no signals from the Centre on formation of separate Telangana State. He felt that another intensified agitation was necessary to achieve the Telangana goal.

TPF rejects KCR’s claim of Telangana state

Telangana Praja Front (TPF) here on Friday appealed to the people of the Telangana region not to believe the claims of some leaders that they have clear signals on formation of separate Telangana State. Speaking at a media conference here, TPF State president Akula Bhumaiah said as the time for Presidential election was nearing, drama on Telangana has begun once again. He reminded that Telangana statehood issue has become main point of discussions. There were no signals on formation of separate Telangana State and the people should not believe the talk, he added.

State to get additional 800 MW power from NTPC

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy directed the Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew and energy department senior officials to ensure that arrangements were put in place for supply of additional power from National Thermal Power Corporation.

In a media release, the Chief Minister’s Office has informed that 797 MW of power will be added by July end which will provide relief to the situation in the State. It is expected that the NTPC-Simhadri 3 and 4 units – 420 MW, Ramagundam – 60 MW, Talcher – 107 MW and RTPP – 210 MW of additional power will be generated in the next few days.

Terror accused Fasih Mohammed to be deported from Saudi soon

Fasih Mohammed, an accused in Bangalore and Delhi blasts and detained in Saudi Arabia, is likely to be deported to India next week.

New Delhi has been in regular touch with Riyadh for Fasih’s deportation and he is expected to be handed over to Indian authorities at the earliest, official sources said on Thursday.

An engineer by profession, 28-year old Fasih from Bihar was allegedly involved in the Chinnaswamy Stadium blast in Bangalore and the shooting incident near Jama Masjid (Delhi) in 2010 and is wanted by both Delhi and Karnataka Police.

Telangana state will be a reality before sept:KCR

Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhara Rao has said that Telangana State would be a reality before September this year.

KCR, who participated in the first death anniversary of former MP Vaditela Rajeswara Rao, in Singapur village in the district on Thursday, spoke to the media.

He said that he was getting clear indications from the Union government that Telangana State would be conceded either in August or September. He said that his fight would, however, not conclude with the achievement of statehood to the region. He would continue it until Telangana was fully developed.

Diesel price may increase after Presidential elections

Diesel prices may be hiked after Presidential elections on July 19 as the Indian government plans to take bold measures to rein in run-away fiscal deficit.

“Price increase is inevitable. But date and time, nobody can say,” a top Oil Ministry source said.

Diesel prices have not been raised since June 25 last year, and state-owned oil firms sell the fuel at a loss of Rs 10.33 a litre.

ED to record Jagan’s statement from tomorrow

Enforcement Directorate will begin recording the statement of jailed YSR Congress chief Jaganmohan Reddy in the Andhra Pradesh capital from tomorrow.

A joint team of ED investigators from Delhi and Hyderabad will record Jagan’s statement in connection with the case registered against him under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
