Congress committed for the upliftment of Minorities:DS

Former president of APCC Dharmapuri Srinivas has said that the Congress government in the State was committed to the uplift of the Minorities.

Ministers D. Manikya Varaprasada Rao, Syed Mohammed Ahamadulla, former minister Shabbir Ali, AICC observer K B Krishna Murthy and others participated in the PCC State-level Minorities meeting in Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday. Many minority Congress leaders from all parts of the State turned up for the meeting.

YSR congress decides to vote for Pranab

The YSR Congress party has decided to vote for the UPA’s Presidential nominee Pranab Mukherjee. A decision to this effect was taken by the party MLAs and MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, who met under the leadership of party’s honorary president Y S Vijayamma.

Speaking to the media later, Rajamohan Reddy and former MP Mysoora Reddy have said that the party has decided to vote above political considerations in the Presidential election to be held on Thursday. They said that they had decided to value the vote and cast it, instead of abstaining.

TRS to remain neutral in Presidential elections

Former MP B Vinod Kumar on Wednesday defended the decision of Telangana Rashtra Samithi to remain neutral in the Presidential elections scheduled to be held on July 19.

Talking to media persons, Vinod Kumar said that the TRS would abstain from voting like 2008, where it did not participate in the election. Stating that TRS has so far not taken any decision over extending support to UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee, he said that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao would take a final decision on participation of Presidential voting.

Nagam asks Telangana leaders to vote against Pranab

Telangana Nagara Samithi president Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday appealed to Telangana MPs and MLAs not to extend support to UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee in the Presidential elections as he was opposed to division of State.

Talking to media persons, Nagam Janardhan Reddy called upon the MPs and MLAs from the region to vote as per their conscience and defeat Pranab Mukherjee in the elections. He stated that the elected representatives from Telangana region, who vote in favour of UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee, would become ‘Traitors of Telangana’.

No room for sentiments against Pakistan: Dhoni

Brushing aside voices of criticism over playing against Pakistan, Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni today said the series will have to be played and there is no room for sentiments.

“We are professional cricketers. The series will have to be played and we have to get ready for it. Sentiment does not play any part since we are taught to be professionals on field,” he told reporters.

Heavy rains in city badly effects traffic

Heavy rain lashed the city on Tuesday evening. Secunderabad, Himayatnagar, Koti, Sultan Bazar, Ramanthapur, Uppal, Amberpet, Khairathabad, Punjagutta, Abids and Lakdikapul experienced heavy rainfall.

Due to the rain, low-level areas were submerged under rain water. The Electricity department stopped power supply during the rainfall. Vehicular traffic was also halted for several hours across the city.

The traffic at Basheerbagh to Liberty and Shadan College to Lakdkapul was moved at a snail’s pace.

SC expresses displeasure over Govt inaction during T agitation

The Supreme Court has expressed its displeasure at the inaction of the State government on the incidents that occurred in the State High Court during the Telangana agitation. The Apex Court has questioned the State government as to why it had not taken action against lawyers, who had attacked the High Court. “Does the government support rowdyism and goondaism in courts,” the court has questioned the government.

Four Panels set up to implement PM’s 15-point formula for upliftment of Minorities

Minister for Minorities Welfare, Wakf & Urdu Academy Syed Mohammed Ahamadullah has expressed his concern over the tardy implementation of Prime Minister’s new 15-point Programme for welfare of Minorities in the State and made certain suggestions to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy through D.O. Lr.No.590/M(M.W, Wakf & U.A)/2012; Dated:03-04-2012. The CM considered the suggestions positively and directed the authorities concerned to take immediate action for effective implementation of Prime Minister’s Programme for Welfare of Minorities of this State.

PCC Minority department holding meeting

PCC Minority Department is holding a meeting of its office-bearers at Prakasham Hall in Gandhi Bhavan to highlight the Centre and State government’s welfare programs extended for Minorities on July 18 from 11am to 4 pm.

According to a pressnote issued here on Tuesday, PCC Minority Department chairman Mohammed Sirajuddin stated that PCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and dignitaries from AICC and PCC will take part in the meeting.

OU JAC students arrested near Minister’s quaters

Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee tried to storm the Ministers’ Residential Complex on Tuesday demanding that the State government initiate stern action against those who were behind the carnage of Dalits in Laximpet of Srikakulam district.

The OU JAC leaders also demanded that Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy immediately dismiss Ministers Botcha Satyanaraya and Kondru Murali, who were allegedly responsible for the killing of Dalits. The police foiled their attempt and arrest them.

IAS officers meet CM, complain against Minister

Representatives of IAS Officers’ Association met Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy in the Secretariat on Tuesday and complained to him against the reported statement of Minor Irrigation Minister T G Venkatesh that non-functioning IAS officers should be shot dead.

They told the CM that the minister has repeated his statement instead of expressing his regrets after they protested. They have asked the Chief Minister to take suitable action against the minister.

Multicrore cheating to unemployed youths,CCS registers case

Central Crime Station (CCS) has registered a case against ‘City Facility’ which cheated unemployed youth to the tune of several crores of rupees, promising online jobs.

According to information, the company established at the RTC Crossroads had given advertisements promising thousands of rupees for a few hours of online work. Youth, who were attracted towards the opportunity, have paid thousands of rupees as deposits. However, they were aghast when the company simply disappeared.

On a complaint received from the victims, police registered a case and are looking for the promoters.

Ensure 7 hour power supply to farmers: CM

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday directed Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew to continuously pursue with NTPC to get the promised additional power at the earliest.

Reviewing the electricity generation position, inflows into reservoirs with the Chief Secretary and CMO officials at Secretariat, the Chief Minister directed the officials to supply 7 hour power to farmers at any cost.

Telangana issue not figured in meeting with Sonia: Sarvey

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday held meeting with MPs from the state on the issue of the Presidential election for which voting will take place on Thursday.

Two bodies fished out of Gandipet

The Police have fished out the bodies of the two M.Tech students, who were drowned in the Gandipeta lake here, this morning.

Mahmod Abdul Hy (24), Mahmod Alimuddin and Hakeem, who were pursuing M.Tech in the Shadan College, went for fishing in the lake on Sunday, and accidentally fell in the lake. Local people have rescued Hakeem. The police have launched search operation by deploying swimmers, and fished out the two bodies.

Power shortage is a universal problem

The Chief Minister said that power shortage was a universal problem and not confined to Andhra Pradesh alone. He has explained that power generation was hampered because of delay in the onset of monsoon.

On the elections to local bodies, he has explained that the reservation issue was before a court and assured that elections would be held as soon as the court clears the issue. He said the government had taken a neutral stand on the Kakinada SEZ.. He has explained that the government would take a decision after the experts committee came to the state and examined the project.

Court rejects Zakia’s plea for SIT’s preliminary report

A local court today rejected Zakia Jafri’s demand of access to the preliminary report filed by AK Malhotra of Special Investigation Team in the Supreme Court during the inquiry into her complaint against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and others with regard to 2002 riots.

Metropolitan Magistrate BJ Ganatra also rejected the plea of social activist Teesta Setalvad, seeking permission to inspect (on Zakia’s behalf) the original documents submitted by the SIT with its closure report.

Local bodies elections to be held soon, says CM

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday announced that the State Government would soon conduct elections for local bodies in the State.

Talking to media persons while participating in the Indiramma Baata programme at Sarpavaram in East Godavari district, Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the government has already taken a decision to conduct local body elections and the notification in this regard would be issued soon once the legal problems were cleared in the court.
