Launching stir only option on medical seats to Telangana:TRS

Former MP and TRS leader B Vinod has said that his party has no other alternative than launching agitation if the Congress government failed to get additional medical seats in the medical colleges of Telangana region.
A TRS delegation led by Vinod called on Principal Secretary of Medical & Health K Ratna Kishore today and enquired about the government’s move as a Division Bench of the High Court would be pronouncing its judgment on the issue on Friday.

Centre may announce Telangana by September: TRS

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Thursday claimed that it has received some positive signs from the UPA Government over the decision on the Telangana statehood.

Talking to reporters at Telangana Bhavan, former Lok Sabha member B Vinod Kumar said that the TRS was expecting a decision in favour of Telangana State by September. However, he threatened to intensify the movement if the government resorts to delaying tactics on the issue.

AP CID makes first arrest in CBI JD call data leak case

The Andhra Pradesh CID, probing the leakage of phone call data of a senior CBI officer, on Wednesday arrested a top executive of a Maharashtra based company for his alleged role in the scandal, a senior CID official said.

K Venka Reddy alias K V Reddy, vice president of Ind Barath Energies (Maharashtra) Ltd, was apprehended from here and has confessed to the crime, CID Additional Director General of Police S V Ramana Murthy said, adding Reddy has admitted to having committed the offence at the instance of other accused persons.

Parthasarathy to approach HC against special court’s verdict

On May 8, the officials received a complaint from the 28-year-old state government employee alleging that she was duped by one Mohammed Zubair Ahmed of Rs 5.5 lakh.

TRS-sponsored bandh passes off peacefully

The shutdown called today by TRS over the visit of YSR Congress Party Honorary President Y S Vijaya Lakshmi to Karimnagar district passed off peacefully.

Shops and other commercial establishments remained closed and public transport was affected due to the bandh called in Karimngar district.

Many educational institutions were shut in Hyderabad and other Telangana districts due to the call given by TRS.

Pranab not against separate Telangana state: Kesav Rao

Telangana senior Congress leader Dr K Keshav Rao has said that President-elect Pranab Mukherjee was favorable to formation of separate Telangana State.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Keshav Rao said that Pranab was not against separate State. He exuded confidence that Pranab would not become as hurdle to creation of separate Telangana State. He said that Pranab opined that the Congress would survive only when it concedes separate Telangana State.

14 killed, 6 injured in road mishap in Nalgonda

In a ghastly road mishap, at least 14 labourers were killed on the spot and another six received serious injuries when a cement laden lorry turned turtle near Bukkamuntalapadu in Nidamanuru mandal in Nalgonda district on Tuesday.

According to police, 12 bodies have been recovered from the accident spot and five of the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. All the victims belonged to Halia village, but the identities of deceased are yet to be ascertained. The mishap took place when the lorry carrying 20 labourers was heading towards Halia from Miryalaguda.

Police raided TRS office in support of Vijayamma: E Rajender

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Floor leader Etela Rajendar has alleged the police had raided the Telangana Bhavan in support of the Cheneta Diksha of the YSR Congress Party’s honorary president YS Vijayamm’s on Monday.

Supreme Court rejects plea for probe against Naidu

The Supreme Court Monday dismissed a plea that sought a CBI probe against Telugu Desam Party chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for allegedly benefiting several companies during his tenure as the Andhra Pradesh chief minister from 1996 to 2004.

The apex court bench of Justice T.S. Thakur and Justice F.M. Ibrahim Kalifulla declined to interfere with the state high court order which earlier rejected Y.S. Vijaya’s plea for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.

Fire accident in Indoor stadium

A fire broke out in Kotla Vijayabhaskara Reddy Indoor Stadium, Yousufguda here in early hours on Monday.

Due to catching fire to crickets kits in the stadium, flames were engulfed from the stadium. After receiving information on fire accident, the police and fire fighters immediately rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

Court issues non-bailable warrant against Edn Minister

The Economic Offences Court in Nampally on Monday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Secondary Education Minister K Parthasarathy for violation of Foreign Exchange Regulation Act.

According to Enforcement Directorate, the Minister violated FERA Rules and did not pay the amount for importing machinery from abroad during his tenure as Managing Director of KPR Tele Products Limited in 2002. For violating the rules, the Enforcement Directorate has imposed a penalty of Rs 3 lakhs on Parthasarathy.
