Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf, who has been accused by a Mumbai-based model of sexually exploiting her on the pretext of marrying her, has admitted that photographs of the two posing together were real, but denied having any relationship with her.

Man lynches daughter after quarrel with wife

In a ghastly incident, a man, who quarreled with his wife, lynched his daughter in a fit of anger. He also injured another daughter. He was arrested by the police.

According to the information, Damodar loved Sulochana and married her. However, he became an addict to liquor and used to frequently quarrel with his wife, doubting her fidelity.

YSRCP will win 40 parliament seats:Mekapati

YSR Congress MP Mekapati Raja Mohan Reddy has said that a deliberate attempt was being made to defame late chief minister Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy, whose rule he has compared to the golden age of the Gupta empire.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Mekapati said the Cabinet ministers have dug a deep pit to bury the memory of late leader and had fallen in it themselves. He said that the cases against his party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy were part of this scheme to defame late YSR.

Security beefed up for I-Day celebrations

Security has been beefed up in West Bengal in view of tomorrow’s Independence Day celebrations, with the main function slated to be held at Red Road instead of the state secretariat.

“Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee would take salute during a march past at the Red Road instead of hoisting the national tricolour at the state secretariat like previous years,” Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee said during a media briefing.

TRS says Telangana statehood stir to be intensified

The separate Telangana agitation would be intensified soon if the Centre failed to accept the statehood demand, TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao warned today.

Rao had been claiming that he got an assurance from “Central leaders” for formation of separate Telangana, possibly after the Vice-Presidential election (which concluded on August 7).

“If they give Telangana, fine. Otherwise, we will fight the war. There is no debate in this,” he said, addressing a gathering here.

Police constable attacked by irate vehicle owners at Amberpet

Some motorists have attacked a traffic police constable on duty Naga Mohan Reddy, when the latter demanded a two wheeler owner to pay Rs.270 related to an earlier challan immediately, at Shivam Road.

A verbal dual took place between the traffic constable and the scooter rider, and they resorted to jostling. Due to this, the traffic came to a halt. The irate motorists attacked the constable and beat him up.

TDP demands cancellation of Vanpic deals

The Telugu Desam Party demanded that the State Government cancel all the agreements pertaining to the Vanpic project.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy expressed his shock and grief over the demise of Union Minister Mr.Vilas Rao Deshmukh.

Shankar Rao describes CM as “weak captain”

Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Tuesday referred to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar as a bad ‘captain’ whose team members are falling apart, one by one.

Abdul Qadeer is subjected to discrimination:Wife

Arguing that the government cannot discriminate between the span of imprisonment of one life convict and the other, Pushpinder Kaur, the lawyer for M A Qadeer, who is in jail for the murder of ACP Sattaiah in 1990, said on Monday that he should be immediately released.

In a representation to special chief secretary (home) M Chaya Ratan, Kaur stated on behalf of Qadeer’s wife Sabera Begum that his imprisonment for more that 22 years violates a Supreme Court order of 2007.

Andhra anti-terror force Octopus gets its headquarters

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy inaugurated the headquarters of Octopus, formed on the lines of National Security Guard (NSG) to counter terrorist attacks.

The force will comprise 250 commandos, who will be deployed in key cities of the state. About 100 personnel would deal with any threat to the famous temple in Tirupati.

Built at the cost of Rs.5 crore in Begupmet area here, the Octopus headquarters is equipped with the state-of-the-art conference hall and the communication networking.

ACB files chargesheet in cash-for-bail case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday filed chargesheet in the cash-for-bail case of mining baron and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy.

The 40-pages charge sheet was filed before the ACB Court at Purani Haveli. The ACB has named eight people as accused in the case. They are Janardhan Reddy’s brother Gali Somasekhara Reddy, relative Dasharathama Reddy, Kampli MLA Suresh Babu, suspended judge Pattabhi Rama Rao, his son Ravi Chandra, retired judge Chalapathi Rao, junior advocate Adithya and rowdy sheeter Yadagari.

TDP leaders lock GHMC office for two hours over sanitation issue

Nearly four thousand employees of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation were forced to wait outside the head office premises for almost three hours on Monday as Telugu Desam Party corporators locked both the entrance gates in protest against the civic body’s failure to take up sanitation works in the city.
