Declare power emergency, demands TRS

Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLA K Tarakarama Rao on Wednesday demanded the State Government declare power emergency in the State.

Talking to media persons here, Tarakarama Rao said that the power crisis cropped up in the State as Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy lacks fore-vision. He demanded that the Chief Minister mount pressure on the Centre to get additional power sanctioned. He slammed Kiran Kumar Reddy for not convening an all-party meeting and Assembly session to discuss such a pressing issue.

CM blames demand-supply gap for power crisis

Admitting that there was a huge gap between the demand and supply of power in the State, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday assured all sections that the government was taking all steps to tide over the power shortage in the State.

State files SLP in Supreme Court over DGP’s row

The Andhra Pradesh Government on Wednesday filed a Special Leave Petition in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court orders upholding the Central Administrative Tribunal’s (CAT) decision to set aside the appointment of Director General of Police V Dinesh Reddy as the Head of Police Force (HoPF).

In the Special Leave Petition, the State Government appealed to the apex court to quash the High Court orders by on the grounds that Dinesh Reddy was appointed on the post based on his tenure.

SCR takes up campaign on e-tickets through Authorised Agents

With a view to eliminate any fraud such as tampering of Electronic Reservation Slips (ERS), overcharging and other issues by Authorised Agents issuing e-tickets for train journies, the South Central Railway will take up public awareness campaign on e-ticketing. In this connection, passengers have been asked to be conversant with the procedures regarding booking of e-tickets through Authorised Agents in order to avoid any problem.

GHMC Mayor threatens to take action against erring staff

GHMC Mayor Mohammad Majid Hussain on Wednesday admitted that his instructions were not being taken seriously by the officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

Talking to reporters at the GHMC Headquarters, Majid Hussain blamed the GHMC officials and staff for the bad condition of roads in the corporation’s limits. He said despite clear and repeated instructions, the works were not executed properly. He warned that he would take serious action against the erring officials and staff from Thursday onwards while conducting surprise visits across the GHMC limits.

TRS MLA arrested in city

Police took TRS MLAs into custody when they tried to begin hunger strike at the Vidyut Soudha, headquarters of the State Electricity Board here on Tuesday.

The MLAs were demanding seven-hour power supply to agriculture in the Telangana region. As they were obstructing vehicular traffic, police initially tried to persuade the MLAs to leave the place. Tension prevailed for a while when the MLAs resisted arrests.

CM may delay action on Dharmana resignation

Kiran to continue as CM till 2014: AICC Secretary

All India Congress Committee secretary K B Krishna Murthy on Tuesday denied reports that appeared in a section of media that the Congress High Command would change Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Talking to media persons here, Krishna Murthy termed the media reports as speculative and said they were not credible. He said that the Congress High Command would never change the leadership on flimsy grounds. He said that the party would continue Kiran Kumar Reddy as the Chief Minister till the 2014 elections.

ACB quizzes Bellary MLA in cash-for-bail case

Bellary MLA B Sriramulu on Tuesday claimed that he was in no way connected to cash-for-bail scam of mining baron Gali Janardhan Reddy.

Talking to media persons after facing questioning by the Anti Corruption Bureau on the issue, Sriramulu said he appeared before the probing agency following issue of notices and he was in no way connected to the cash-for-bail scam. He said that he was ready to attend before the ACB again if it calls him as part of investigation.

Telangana not possible by a single party, says Nagam

Telangana Nagara Samiti president and MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Tuesday stated that the Telangana state formation was not possible with the efforts of a single party.

DGP row: AP GOVT to move SC

The state government is seriously contemplating to move the Supreme Court to challenge the verdict of state High Court of quashing the appointment of Dinesh Reddy as the Director-General of Police, it is reliably learnt.
Though the High Court verdict will no way disturb the continuance of Dinesh Reddy as state police chief, yet the state government feels otherwise. Sources close to CMO says acceptance of the HC directive may pose problems in future.
