Danam sees TDP hand behind case against him

Hyderabad, April 09 : Labor Minister Danam Nagender has challenged the TDP leaders that he was ready to resign as minister if they proved that he had scolded police officers.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Danam alleged there were some TDP coverts in the City police force. He also alleged that the TDP leaders had instigated the police to register cases against him. Stating that he will take the allegations of the police officers against him to Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, Danam said the TDP leaders were jealous of his soaring popularity.

Relief to Sabita :CBI wont arrest her

Hyderabad, April 09 : Home minister Sabita Indra Reddy named an accused in the disproportionate assets case of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, got some relief as the CBI appears to be not planning to arrest her. The agency filed a memo, seeking issuance of summons to 13 accused including Sabita Indra Reddy. As CBI had not sought the arrest of the accused including Sabita, others also got relief.

Power crisis due to Govt negligenge: Venkaiah

Hyderabad, April 09: Senior national BJP leader M. Venkaiah Naidu here on Tuesday strongly felt that the present acute shortage of power had arisen due to lack of foresight on the part of the Congress government in the State.

Telugu Mahila injured in Encounter with police

Hyderabad, April 09: Several women were injured in the “encounter” between the police and Telugu Desam Mahila Vibhag activists on Tuesday.

When the Telugu Mahilas attempted to gatecrash into the Ministers’ Residential Complex at Banjara Hills to register their protest against hike in power tariff by the State government, the police personnel intervened and frustrated their attempt. In the process, the police personnel and the protesting Telugu Mahilas pushed each other causing injuries to the latter.

Pranahuti aided Meditation

Woman killed as drunkards go berserk

Tenali, April 09: One woman was killed when drunkards went amok at the Gandhi Chowk in the town on Monday.
According to the information, one Sushila was accosted by the drunkards when she was going home along with her daughter, III year B. Tech student. The miscreants touched the daughter and showered obscenities.

When the mother tried to rescue her daughter, the drunkards strongly pushed her. As a result, Sushila fell down and came under the wheels of a lorry, which was coming at high speed. The grievously injured woman died at a hospital in Mangalagiri.

‘T’ MPS to decide future course of action on April 22

Hyderabad, April 09: Karimnagar MP Ponnam Prabhakar has said all the Congress MPs of the region would decide on their future course of action at a meeting on April 22.

Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Ponnam appealed to the TRS, BJP, TDP and CPI to cooperate with them, in their fight for Telangana State. Referring to the charge that there were coverts of Dr KVP among the Telangana MPs, he said it would be better if they disclosed their names.

When asked about Home Minister Sabita Indra Reddy, Ponnam said Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy would take care of it.

Several TDP, Congress and YSRCP leaders meet Sabita

Hyderabad, April 09 : Home minister Sabita Indra Reddy, whose name was included by the CBI in the charge-sheet in the disproportionate assets case of Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, received support from unexpected quarters. Apart from Congress leaders, leaders or TDP and YSR Congress also met her on Tuesday and extended their support in her time of stress.
Ministers Jana Reddy, Vatti Vasanta Kumar, D K Aruna and MLA Nallamilli Sesha Reddy met her separately. DGP Dinesh Reddy was also closeted with her.

Exams postponded

The Kakatiya University of Warangal has postponed all the examinations to be held on Tuesday. University registrar said it would be later announced when the examinations would be held again.
In Chittoor district, apart from preventing buses from plying, opposition parties had also forced the educational institutions to close. Many institutions voluntarily declared a holiday.

Bokoro express stopped

Hyderabad, 09: Bandh is intense in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts also. In the two districts, 859 buses in 9 depots could not move out. At the Vizianagaram railway station, TDP activists stopped the Bokaro Express for some time.
In Sangareddy, leaders of TRS, BJP, YSRCP and Left parties were arrested when the squatted at the new bus stand and prevented buses from leaving.

Left Parties Bandh Call Unites Opposition

Hyderabad, April 9 :The state bandh over the power issue, for which all the opposition parties cutting across party lines have united to force a shut down, is being enforced right from the wee hours of Tuesday.
The bandh was to express protest over the steep hike in power tariff and the immediate need for its roll back. While the villages and towns in the districts have fully responded to the bandh call, the citizens in the twin cities remained luke warm as there was no impact of the bandh with normal life not affected.

Opposition shutdown in Andhra disrupts normal life

Normal life in Andhra Pradesh was hit on Tuesday as opposition parties in the state called for a shutdown to protest the hike in electricity tariff.

Buses of the state-owned Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) were suspended in most parts of the state as opposition leaders and activists stopped vehicles.

Shops and business establishments also remained closed in many towns. In Hyderabad, the response was mixed.

Date of birth to be incorporated in ‘Aadhaar’ cards

‘Aadhaar’ cards will henceforth bear date of birth of the holder, facilitating people to avail benefits of several government and non-governmental schemes which require age validation.

Till now, only year of birth was mentioned in the card, but now, it has been agreed in-principle to insert the date of birth, said city-based RTI activist Avinash Prabhune, who pursued the matter with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and its chief Nandan Nilekani.

Man can be arrested for not paying maintenance to wife: HC

The Bombay High Court has ruled that a non-bailable warrant can be issued for the arrest of a man who fails to pay maintenance to his wife under the ‘Protection of Woman from Domestic Violence Act’.

The ruling was delivered last week by Justice Roshan Dalvi on a plea filed by a city resident, who had challenged the non-bailable warrant issued by a lower court against him for failure to pay maintenance to his wife.

Ministers come to defence of Sabitha

A day after the Home Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy was named in the charge sheet by CBI, political activity shifted to top gear with some ministers expressing their solidarity with her and Chief Minister holding confabulations with his cabinet colleagues.

First it was a mini cabinet meeting in which ministers Sailajanath, Kanna Lakshminarayana, Pitanai Satyanarayana called on the Chief Minister at his camp office. They are understood to have discussed the issue of Sabitha Indra Reddy.

ACB raids on MLAs house

The ACB sleuths have conducted searches in the house of Congress MLA Y Kannababu here today.

A case of owning assets disproportionate to his known sources of income is pending against him.

Officials are assessing the value of the guest house he owns. There are charges against him that he has built a house in an encroached land which belongs to Simhachalam Devasthanams.

Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Parineeta’ and ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ co-star Vidya Balan feels that the Bollywood actor deserves a lesser punishment in the 1993 blasts case.

Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan has received several representations and petitions from various individuals and organisations, both seeking and opposing clemency for the 53-year-old actor.

Dutt has been ordered by the Supreme Court recently to return to jail to complete the five-year-sentence in the blasts case.

58-year-old policeman commits suicide

A police Head Constable allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at Saroornagar here, police said today.

K Rama Rao (58), attached to the City Security Wing (CSW) of Hyderabad police, was found hanging from a tree near the Tahasildar office in the early hours today, they said.

Police suspect that Rao took the extreme step as a result of some family dispute as he used to frequently quarrel with his wife.

Official email IDs for IPS officers

The government has decided to create official email IDs on a common domain for all IPS officers across the country.

A dedicated website for day-to-day affairs of IPS officers was also launched today in the Union Home Ministry.

The website will have links related to the “Indian Police Service civil list, immovable property returns, latest notifications/circulars, rules, police medal awardees related to all IPS officers all over India”.

Two Hyderabad students arrested with fake notes

Two students were on Monday arrested for allegedly preparing and circulating fake currency notes, police said today.

Fake notes with a face value of Rs 1 lakh were seized from the duo, Syed Adil Shah and K Tarun Goud, who were rounded up from Chandrayangutta area here, they said.

They had prepared fake currency notes (in Rs 500 denomination) by using laptop, printer and scanner. The duo was nabbed while they were trying to put them into circulation, police said.

The accused are childhood friends and are doing their graduation.

Sarve says Sona gave him a ticket despite YSR opposition

Union Minister Sarve Sathyanarayana on Monday disclosed that AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi gave him party ticket for MP seat in the last election though then chief minister late Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy opposed it.

Speaking to the media here on Monday after meeting AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s emissary Amar Kale, Sarve said several leaders were eyeing on his Malkajgiri MP seat now. He exuded confidence that he would win by five lakh majority in the 2014 elections. He said the Malkajgiri ticket will be allotted to him even for the coming elections.

Refuting Union Tourism Minister Dr K Chiranjeevi’s remarks against the TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu, party leaders Bojjala Gopala Krishna Reddy, CM Ramesh and Kalva Srinivasulu have said the former has no right to criticize Chandrababu.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, the TDP leaders alleged that the Congress party, which was scared of TDP’s BC Declaration, was encouraging Chiranjeevi to take on Chandrababu Naidu. They said Chiranjeevi, who had said once that “Panchalu would be pulled” was now hiding behind the same Panchalu.
