EC to take up special drives for enrollment of voters

The Election Commission of India will conduct a special drive for enrollment of voters in 15 constituencies of Hyderabad district.

As per the schedule, the draft electoral rolls in respect of 15 Assembly Constituencies of Hyderabad District have been published on October 1 at all designated locations of EROs, AEROs Offices and Polling Station building locations. Further, Special Campaign will be conducted on October 7, October 14 and October 21 at all Polling Station locations.

Srikrishna report as per centre’s modalities: Botsa

APCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana has opined that there was lack of understanding of the Justice Srikrishna Committee report on the Telangana issue. Clarifying that the five-member Committee headed by former judge of the Supreme Court would have given a single option if asked, Botcha said the committee had to give several options as per the modalities set for it by the Centre.

TPJAC slams Justice Srikrishna panel for ignoring T people’s sentiments

Telangana Political JAC Chairman Prof. Kodandaram today lashed out at the Justice Srikrishna Committee for its total failure to include the opinion of the people of the Telangana region in its report. He also slammed the Srikrishna Committee for failing to suggest a solution to the decades’ old Telangana issue by ignoring sentiments of the people of the Telangana region.

Speaking to media persons, the TPJAC leader demanded that Justice Srikrishna explain to the people of the Telangana region as to why the committee recommended 8th chapter in the report.

ED attaches Jagan’s properties worth 51 crores

Whipping its chord, the Enforcement Directorate has attached some properties valued at Rs 51 crores of YSR Congress Party chief and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy in connection with his Disproportionate Assets Case.

According to the Attachment Order of the ED, Jagan’s properties attached are: 35 acres of land allotted to the Hetero Drugs company, Fixed Deposits worth Rs 3 crores in DA case, 13 acres of land given to Janani Infrastructure and Fixed Deposits worth Rs 14.5 crores in the name of Jagati Publications.

Kodandaram thanks BJP for T March support

Telangana Political JAC Chairman Prof. Kodandaram has said that TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao went to New Delhi to ask the Centre to stand by its assurance on formation of separate Telangana State.

Prof. Kodandaram on Thursday visited the BJP State office to thank the BJP leaders for making Telangana March a success.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Kodandaram demanded that the Centre make a statement in Parliament on Telangana statehood. There was progress in the talks held by KCR with leaders in New Delhi.

JAC plans massive protests during PM’s visit on Oct 16

The Telangana Political Joint Action Committee is planning to organise massive protests on October 16 during the visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to attend the global biodiversity conference in the city.

The decision was reportedly taken during an informal meeting attended by TPJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram, CPI State Secretary K Narayana and other leaders. Instead of centralised protest, the JAC leaders are planning sporadic protests in different forms across the city on the occasion of Prime Minister’s visit to the city on October 16.

Indian Mujahideen member shifted to Hyderabad

Alleged Indian Mujahideen (IM) operative Afaq Iqbal alias Danish Riyaz was brought to the city from Gujarat by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) sleuths of the city police.

He was sent to fourteen-day judicial custody. Iqbal, who is reportedly involved in the July 2008 twin blast case in Ahmedabad, is wanted in a cheating and fraud case in Hyderabad.

All arrangements in place for Haj Camp from Thursday

The departure of nearly 8,000 pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh and adjacent districts of Karnataka for Haj-2012 will begin from October 6.

According to the State Haj Committee, the arrangements for the departure of Haj pilgrims from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport are complete both at the Haj Camp at Haj House at Nampally and the GMR Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamsabad. The first flight will depart from RGI Airport at October 6 at 9.20 pm. The Haj pilgrims bound for the first flight have been asked to report at the Haj Camp on Thursday.

CM asks HMDA to speed up cleaning of Hussainsagar

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Wednesday asked the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to speed up the Hussainsagar cleaning project and complete it on war footing.

Reviewing all the projects taken up and proposed to be taken up by the HMDA, the Chief Minister told the officials that all the lakes in and around Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy have to be protected. He also asked the HMDA to prioritise radial road works in the city and also other new projects.
