No relief for former AP minister in Jagan DA case

A special CBI court today dismissed the bail pleas of former Andhra Pradesh excise minister Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao and senior bureaucrat K V Brahmananda Reddy.

They are accused in the case pertaining to alleged disproportionate assets of YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.

39 cases filed for Telangana March: Commissioner Police

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma on Tuesday informed that 39 cases were filed by the police in connection with Sagara Haram on September 30.

Speaking to the media here, Anurag Sharma said that SIT was investigating into the cases and evidences were being collected on the basis of video footages. He also declined to disclose the details on which the cases were registered.

In the Secretariat, Home Minister P. Sabita Indra Reddy called a review meeting with higher police officials on the cases registered in connection with the Telangana March

Nearly 1500 Haj pilgrims of AP have reached Mecca: SHC

Two batches consisting of 299 and 350 Haj pilgrims left Hyderabad for Jeddah on Tuesday.

AP State Haj Committee chairman Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed flagged off the buses at the Haj House amid chanting of Talbiah, the special prayer for the Haj. The pilgrims clad in Ehram (Two white sheets of cloth) were seen off by the relatives and friends. So far, six batches have left for the sacred destination. Altogether 1847 pilgrims have left Hyderabad out of whom 1497 have reached Makkah Mukarrama and pilgrims have offered Umrah and are busy in prayers there.

Amala arrested near Charminar

Police have arrested former actress and Green Peace activists when they staged a dharna at the Charminar in the old city on Monday.

While Amala and others have said that they have staged this demonstration to create awareness in connection with the ongoing International Bio Diversity conference, police said they were arrested for hanging banners on the Charminar.
Amala and others have hung banners to charminar demanding stopping of deforestation and coal mining, without proper permission. As Charminar is a heritage building, police said no banner should be hung to it.

Srilakshmi granted bail at last

At last, the Special Court for CBI Cases, here on Monday granted bail to the senior IAS Officer Y. Srilakshmi. The court has directed her to furnish surety for Rs 15,000, surrender passport in the court and not to leave the country. The Special Judge also directed her to cooperate with the CBI investigating officers.

It may be mentioned here that Srilakshmi was arrested by the CBI sleuths in November last year in connection with her alleged complicity in the irregularities in the allocation of mines to the Obulapuram Mining Companey of Gali Janardhan Reddy.

HC grants bail to Somasekhara Reddy

The High Court here on Monday granted conditional bail to Somasekhara Reddy, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody in connection with his alleged involvement in what is known as “Money for Bail” scam of former minister of Karnataka and Obulapuram Mines Company owner Gali Janardhana Reddy.

In the bail order, the High Court has directed the accused (Somasekhara Reddy) to furnish two sureties of Rs one lakh personal bonds, not to leave the country and to surrender his passport to the ACB Special Court.

No need for all-party meet on Telangana:Vinod

Telangana Rashtra Samiti senior leader B. Vinod has said that there was no need to convene all-party meeting on separate Telangana issue.

Speaking to the media here on Monday, Vinod said the Congress was in favour of carving out separate Telangana State. Stating that it would take a final decision on the issue shortly, the TRS leader also clarified the Congress does not see Hyderabad city as a bone of contention as the city was an integral part of the Telangana region. He asked the Seemandhra leaders not to raise controversy over Hyderabad.

Gaddar urges botsa to distribute lands to dalits in laxmipet as planned

Balladeer Gaddar has demanded that Transport Minister Botcha Satyanarayana start distribution of 250 acres of land among Dalit people as scheduled from November 1 at Laximpeta in Srikakulam district.

Releasing a poster relating to the ‘ Dalit People’s Protest Padayatra’ here on Monday, Gaddar said that land dispute between the Dalits and Kapus was the main reason in Laxmipeta massacre incident. He demanded that the State government resolve the issue by distributing 250 acres of land among the Dalit people in the village.

The Congress party legislators on Monday accused Nizamabad MP Madhu Yaskhi Goud of damaging the party’s image in the garb of Telangana agitation.

TEJAC demands withdrawal of cases against employees

The Telangana Employees JAC on Monday threatened to launch agitation if the cases registered against the employees during Telangana March were not withdrawn in the next 10 days.

Talking to reporters after submitting a memorandum to Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew at her chambers in the State Secretariat, TEJAC president Devi Prasad alleged that the police have registered false cases against the employees.
