Dharmana appears before the CBI court

Roads and Buildings Minister B Dharmana Prasada Rao on Thursday appeared before the CBI Special Court at Nampally in connection with the with the Vanpic aspect of disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.

This was the second personal appearance of Prasada Rao before the CBI Court. He executed a bond of Rs 25,000 and furnished two sureties for an equivalent amount before the court on September 25. He was directed by the court to appear again on October 9. However, he could not appear in person due to the demise of his mother.

Naidu accuses Cong leaders of swindling public funds

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday accused the leaders of ruling Congress party of swindling funds meant for the welfare schemes.

Addressing a meeting at Meerdodi village during the fourth day of his “Vastunna Mee Kosam” padayatra in Mahabubnagr district, Naidu alleged that the Congress leader have deceived the people by not implementing the promises that they made in the manifesto. He also alleged that the government schemes were only benefitting the leaders of Congress party while the common people were being left to their fate.

Breaking News: Communal trouble breaks out in Musheerabad

Tension prevailed in the Musheerabad area this night after miscreants attacked a Muslim youth. The trouble started when the cattle brought for Qurbani strayed into the Kavadiguda area and the miscreants taking advantage of it started raising slogans against the minority community.

In the meantime a passerby Muslim youth Arif was attacked with a lethal weapon by a group of activists belonging to the Hindu fundamentalist groups. The injured youth was immediately taken to the nearby hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.

Sonia should follow Gadkari’s example and agree to probe:Uma

BJP leader Uma Bharti today joined her senior LK Advani in defending party president Nitin Gadkari praising his offer to stand probe and also asked Congress chief Sonia Gandhi to follow suit and agree to an inquiry into similar charges against her son-in-law Robert Vadra.

Ms Bharti told that the stand taken by Mr Gadkari over the allegations of corruption against him was exemplary and the Congress leaders, including Finance Minister P Chidambaram, too should agree to probe into charges levelled against them.

AP: Two class 10th students die after drinking toddy

Two Class 10th students died and six other persons were taken ill after allegedly drinking toddy in Chandur mandal of Nalgonda district this evening.

The incident took place at Bangarugadda village. The two boys were aged around 15, police said, adding they were investigating whether any chemical had been added to the toddy.

Slain Venna’s family urge US authorities to find abducted baby

Worried family members of slain Satyavathi Venna, who was found dead in her son’s house in the United States, on Wednesday demanded that authorities there make more efforts to trace the elderly woman’s grand-daughter who has been abducted.

“The only information we have is that my aunt (Satyavathi) has died and the baby Venna Sravani is missing. Our only concern now is the safety of the baby. We want Sravani to be traced at the earliest and request the US government to put in good efforts in this regard,” Satyavathi’s son-in-law Srinivasa Reddy and other relatives said.

Six-year-old boy sodomised

A six-year-old boy was allegedly sodomised by his neighbour in Bhambhewa village in the district, police said today.

The minor was sodomised by one Chotu in his home while his family was out, the victim’s father said in his complaint.

Medical examination of the minor confirmed the charges, following which a case was registered against the accused who is absconding, police said.

Undemocratic to stop Chandrababu Naidu’s yatra: CPI

Telangana supporters should mount pressure on the ruling Congress which is supposed to take a decision on the contentious issue instead of training their guns on opposition parties, CPI state secretary K Narayana said here today.

Referring to the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) organising protests against the ‘padayatra’ of TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu in Telangana region, the CPI leader said it is undemocratic to try to stop someone from taking up political activity.

Hasan Ali moves anticipatory bail application in court

Pune-based businessman Hasan Ali Khan who is facing charges under the Money Laundering Act has moved an anticipatory bail application in the sessions court in connection with a case registered in Patna.

The Patna police had registered a case against him for making a passport using forged documents.

In his application, Khan said that he apprehended his arrest in this case as a local court in Patna has issued a production warrant against him.

TDP ridicules KCR over T-deadlines

The Telugu Desam Party on Tuesday ridiculed the deadlines set by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao for formation of Telangana State.

“Kidnapped” SP suspended for tarnishing Police Dept’s image

The State Government on Tuesday suspended Superintendant of Police of Police Transport Organisation E Lakshminarayana for tarnishing the image of the Police Department

Lakshminarayana was held hostage by a head-constable KN Giri Prasad on September 12. Later, Prasad leveled allegations of large scale irregularities in the PTO. He was arrested by the City Police on Monday and sent to judicial remand for 14 days.

Deepam beneficiaries to get subsidy on nine gas cylinders

As a Dussera gift, the State Government has decided to increase the subsidy from six to nine gas cylinders in a year to the beneficiaries of Deepam scheme.

Making the announcement at his chambers in D-Block of the State Secretariat here on Tuesday, Sridhar Babu said that instead of six, about 40 lakh beneficiaries of Deepam Scheme, would get subsidy on nine cylinders. He said this has been done on the instructions of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Kenyan held for peddling drugs in Hyderabad

A Kenyan drug peddler was today arrested from the city and five grams of cocaine was seized from him, police said.

The peddler, Collins Johnson Ochieng Seddah, was apprehended by the Police Commissioner’s Task Force (West Zone Team) from S P Road and a hunt is launched to trace his accomplice, a Nigerian national named Christopher, a senior police officer said.

Collins was staying in India without valid visa.

Talking to reporters after lodging a complaint against film director Puri Jagannath and producer Danaiah with the Banjara Hills Police Station here, TRS politburo member Shravan Kumar said that the movie creates divide among the people by inciting regional feelings. TDP never opposed Telangana: Naidu

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday claimed that his party never opposed the formation of Telangana.

Addressing a public meeting at Rajauli during his “Vastunna Mee Kosam” padayatra, Naidu said although the TDP never spoke against Telangana, but other political parties were trying to isolate the party on the statehood issue. He reminded that he recently wrote a letter to Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh demanding all-party meeting on the issue. However, he said some groups were taking the letter in a negative manner.

The YSR Congress party on Monday alleged that the “impractical promises” and nine-point programme announced by Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu stems out of frustration as all options of getting nearer to the people have exhausted.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Monday alleged that Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu was undertaking his “Vastunna Mee Kosam” padayatra with the help of some anti-social elements.

Talking to reporters here, TRS Deputy Floor leader T Harish Rao said that the people of Telangana were against Naidu’s padayatra in their region.
