No pro-telangana leader will join Jagan’s party: Yashki

Nizamabad MP Madhu Yashki Goud has said that no leader demanding separate Telangana State would join Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s YSRCP.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, Yashki said that Jagan’s party, which is synonym to corruption and illegal activities, has no place in the Telangana region. He said the Telangana MPs would use the no-trust motion against the UPA Government by the Opposition parties in the Parliament’s winter session scheduled to start from November 22 to mount pressure on the Centre for the sake of separate Telangana State.

Senior Congress leader K Keshav Rao, who has been vocal in his campaign for separate statehood, Wednesday said that pro-Telangana forces should join hands in their fight for the common cause.

“All pro-Telangana forces should come together in the fight for achieving separate statehood,” he told reporters after meeting TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao here.

Rao, a former state Congress president and an ex-member of Rajya Sabha, said he and other Telangana Congress leaders stood by the people when Congress announced that it would not accept the separate statehood demand.

Ban urges Israel to avoid ground operation in Gaza

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon Tuesday urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to “act with restraint” amid the operation in Gaza and urged him not to order a military invasion of the strip.

Both Ban and Netanyahu made statements to the press prior to their meeting, discussing the international community’s efforts to achieve a ceasefire agreement between Israel and the militant groups in Gaza, Xinhua reported.

“The entire world is concerned with the loss of human lives on both sides and a further escalation of the fighting will be tragic for both sides,” Ban told reporters.

Three women run over by train in Karimnagar

Three women were killed and two others injured when they were run over by a train while trying to cross a railway track near here, railway police said on Monday. The five women were trying to cross the railway track near Uppal railway station last night when the speeding Navajeevan Express train hit them.

The deceased were identified as P Ailamma(45), M Sammakka (40) and R Swaroopa (44).

The injured were shifted to MGM Hospital at Warangal, where their condition was reported to be stable, police said.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem, they added.

Ration Card not required for scholarships: State Govt

The Social Welfare Department of the State Government on Monday informed that the students could apply for a scholarship with or without a Ration Card.

In a press release, Social Welfare Principal Secretary J Raymond Peter said that in view of representations from a large number of students that they do not have Ration Cards, it has been decided to relax the submission of Ration Card particulars. However, the students have been advised to secure an Aadhar Card immediately to ensure sanction of scholarships.

Though the Andhra Pradesh Government has permitted export of 10,000 tons of Molasses, the imposition of export-pass-fee of Rs, 2500 PMT has made the commodity uncompetitive in the international markets.

Stressing the urgent withdrawal of the export-pass-fee, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) has stated that the other sugar producing states like Gujarat, Maharashtra and UP are not charging any such fee and all the export orders are being placed with them only.

Six persons arrested for Old city violence,MIM Corporators still evade arrest

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) sleuths on Sunday arrested six more persons for their role in the recent communal violence cases.

Twenty-two cases have been booked at Moghulpura, Charminar, Shah Ali Banda, Mir Chowk and Rein Bazaar police stations in relation to the communal violence that occurred following the afternoon prayers on Friday.All the cases have been transferred to SIT by the Hyderabad police commissioner on Saturday. Based on photographic and audio visual evidence, SIT sleuths had identified several culprits who resorted to stone pelting and burning of vehicles.

AP making efforts to irrigate 30 lakh acres of land

Andhra discom to pay customer for cutting power without notice

The Andhra Pradesh Eastern Power Distribution Co Ltd (APEPDCL) has been asked by the apex consumer commission to pay Rs 1.53 lakh as compensation to one of its customers for disconnecting his power supply without prior notice.

The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the state-run discom while dismissing its plea challenging the orders of the state and district consumer fora which had directed APEPDCL to pay the damages to its customer, who used to run a photo studio and power supply to which had been disconnected by it.

Teenager bites off tongue of Rapest

Giving full vent to her anger a teenage girl bit off the tongue of a youth, who allegedly tried to rape her in Bhartana area of the district.

Kailash Bahelia (25) barged into house of the 17-year-old girl yesterday and tried to rape her in Furra Salempur village, police said.

In an apparent self-defence, the teenager cut off tongue of the youth with her teeth.

The youth has been arrested and was undergoing treatment at a hospital, police said.
