Pritala Sriram’s bail petition posted to Jan 7

Hearing on the bail petition of Paritala Sriram, son of TDP MLA Paritala Sunita and late leader Paritala Ravindra was posted to January 7.

Sriram is Accused No. 14 in the conspiracy to murder Congress leader Kamireddypalli Sudhakar Reddy. Sriram’s lawyers filed an anticipatory bail petition in the district court here.

GHMC to take up fogging operations in all divisions

Aruna’s murder case accused attempts suicide

Shiva Kumar, the main accused in the murder case of Osmania University student Aruna, on Friday attempted suicide by jumping from a running train near Pune.

According to sources, Shiva Kumar was arrested in Mumbai by a team of Hyderabad City Police. However, he jumped out of the running train near Pune. He suffered serious injuries and has been admitted to a hospital in Pune.

Sources further revealed that Shiva Kumar attempted suicide before he was taken into the custody by the police. However, he was saved and taken into custody by the police.

TDP charges government of targeting paritala sriram

TDP has lashed out at the government for targeting Paritala Ravindra and conducting raids at night on the residence of woman legislator Sunita.

Talking to the media here on Wednesday, E Peddi Reddy and Ravula Chandrasekhara Reddy have taken a serious exception to the police attitude. They questioned if this was the respect police were taught to show towards a woman legislator. They questioned how they could act that way believing the words of a criminal.

Lokayukta orders probe into allegations against MLA

Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta Justice B Subhashan Reddy today directed the Cyberabad Police here to investigate allegations by a managing committee member of a housing society, who was allegedly attacked after she complained against the local MLA.

T Indrani, member of BHEL MIG Employees Co-operative Housing Colony in Serilingampally Mandal in Ranga Reddy district, had earlier approached the Lokayukta alleging that Serilingampally MLA Bikshapathi Yadav was using his MLA funds to grab the land of the colony.

OU law student gang-raped and murdered

While the citizens of the twin cities were welcoming the New Year 2013 and rejoicing by dancing and bursting crackers, one Aruna, an Osmania University Law student was allegedly gang raped and murdered by unidentified sex maniacs on Monday night. Cong MLC welcomes launch of DCTS

Congress MLC MS Prabhakar has welcomed the launch of Direct Cash Transfer Scheme by the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre.

Talking to reporters in the premises of Legislative Council on Tuesday, Prabhakar said that the move remove the middlemen and would directly benefit the farmers, students, pensioners and beneficiaries of Public Distribution System. He said that the implementation of the scheme might have some glitches in the beginning. Ponguleti expects favourable decision on Telangana

AICC Secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Tuesday hoped that the Centre would soon announce a favourable decision on Telangana.

Talking to reporters at Assembly’s media point, Sudhakar Reddy said that the Centre was serious about resolving the statehood issue and it was honest in its approach to find an amicable solution. OU extends date for submission of applications forms for Convocation

The 79th Convocation of Osmania University for the conferment of Degrees and Diplomas on the successful candidates of Annual and Supplementary Examinations of all courses (including M Phil and Ph D) conducted during the period from July-2009 to June-2012 will be held in February.

However, the Ph D Degrees, which are awarded till one week before the Convocation date, will also be conferred. The actual date of Convocation will be announced later.

Three Engg students among 10 killed on New Year’s eve

At least 10 people, including three engineering students, were killed in separate roads accidents on the New Year’s eve.

According to police, on the New Year’s night, three engineering students who were riding a motor bike were hit by a car near TV9 office on Road No 2, Banjara Hills. All three of them died on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Vikhyath Rao, Shravan Reddy and Abuji Harish. All three were pursing ECE – B Tech IIIrd year from different colleges.

Protests over Delhi gang-rape incident in AP

Protests over the gang-rape of the 23-year-old girl in Delhi continued across Andhra Pradesh today.

College and school students took out protest marches and staged demonstrations in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Warangal, among other towns.

Women’s groups, youth associations and political parties organised protests at various places.

Scores of people, mostly students, held a candle-light vigil at Tank Bund here last evening, as the news of the victim’s demise at Singapore hospital arrived.

Rajasthan in command against Hyderabad

Hyderabad witnessed a batting collapse in the post-tea session to put hosts Rajasthan in the driver’s seat at stumps on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Group A match here today.

At close, Hyderabad were tottering at 160 for five in their first innings in reply to Rajasthan’s 384.

Three killed in fire-cracker unit explosion in Andhra Pradesh

Two women and a child were charred and four other labourers seriously injured when a consignment of fire-crackers to be used in New Year celebrations exploded at a manufacturing unit in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

The condition of one of the injured women is critical as she has received 90 percent burns in the mishap that occurred at Sri Bhavani fire-cracker manufacturing unit in Kommarapalem village between 2-3 PM, they said.

Chaman’s followers arrested with lethal weapons

Police arrested some henchmen of Chaman, follower of the late TDP leader Paritala Ravindra, with lethal weapons.
They have reportedly planned to murder Congress leader Sudhakara Reddy of Kamireddypalli, and police had spoiled their plan.

It is learnt that four to six followers of Chaman were arrested at NS Gate under Ramagiri mandal of the district. A pistol, knives and sickles were seized from their possession.

Naidu’s padayatra enters Warangal

Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu’s Vasthunna Mee kosam padayatra arrived in Warangal district on Saturday.

Naidu was received by women with the traditional bonalu as he began his padayatra at Vellaampalli. He crossed over from Karimnagar district yesterday and the padayatra will go on for 12 days in the district. He will trek along six assembly constituencies covering 150 km addressing wayside meetings and interacting with farmers, workers, women and other sections of people.

Jana condemns KCR for calling T-Bandh

Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy has condemned the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for suspecting the intentions of the Centre in resolving the Telangana issue.
