Get tough with communal fanatics,VH tells Govt

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V. Hanumantha Rao has demanded that the State government get tough and punish with iron hand those who try to engineer communal riots in the city.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Wednesday, Hanumantha Rao alleged that MIM Floor leader and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi had intentionally made provocative speeches having a hidden political agenda. He said the Muslim community itself was questioning Akbaruddin what he would do to the secular country by making such provocative remarks.

Babu completes 100 Days walk,enters Khammam

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu’s “Vastunna Meekosam” padayatra reached its 100th day on Wednesday. Naidu entered Khammam district on Wednesday. He will tour the district for six days. He started his padayatra from Madiripuram under Tirumalayapalem mandal.

A 100 feet pylon was erected to mark the completion of Naidu’s 100 days of padayatra. The 100-yard pylon was erected in 100 hours, Khammam district TDP leader and MP Nama Nageswara Rao said. The pylon was constructed to make Naidu’s padayatra memorable.

Akbar’s hate speech on you-tube:HC rejects plea

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has dismissed a petition filed by an advocate JVN Rama Rao pleading with the Court to order removal of MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi’s hate speech from YouTube.

The High Court bench comprising Justice Sanjay Kumar and Justice L Narasimha Reddy made it clear that the Court would not interfere with freedom of expression of others. The Court also made it clear that the petitioner can approach the YouTube office at New York directly.

Nirmal police visits Akbar Owaisi’s residence,serves second notice

In a surprising move a team of Nirmal Town police this evening arrived the residence of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi’s residence and served second notice asking him to appear before them.

The Nirmal police was accompanied by a team of doctors and they ascertained the health condition of the MIM MLA.

Earlier, Adilabad police confirmed that the MIM leader through his lawyers sought more time on the ground of ill-health. Two lawyers, who reached Nirmal police station on behalf of Owaisi, submitted the doctors’ report.

Cash transfer scheme launched: More commodities through ration shops:CM

Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, along with Union Minister Jairam Ramesh, here on Sunday launched the direct “Cash Transfer Scheme” at Gollaprolu in East Godavari district. This is the first time that the scheme was launched in the State on a pilot basis.

Addressing a public meeting after inaugurating the scheme, the Chief Minister said his government has taken a decision to supply four or five more commodities through Fair Price shops from Ugadi festival as against the criticism of the Opposition parties that the government was diluting the scheme.

India to consider multiple visa for scribes

India will consider granting multiple visa to journalists from SAARC nations, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid said today.

Addressing South Asia Free Media Association’s (SAFMA) 8th Regional Conference here, the Minister said that he would soon take up the matter to sort out multiple visa issue.

He said the new Indo-Pak visa regime, which was operationalised last month, would also facilitate mediapersons to visit each other’s countries.

Burden of proof should be on accused: Lok Satta

The Lok Satta Party and the Foundation for Democratic Reforms have suggested that “in all cases where a person is charged with an offence against women, the burden of proof shall be on the person who is charged to prove that he has not committed the offence”.

It is one of the many suggestions the two organizations made to the Committee of Eminent Jurists headed by Justice J S Verma on matters related to rape and sexual assaults against women after wide consultations.

According to the SCR, Train No.12723 Hyderabad – New Delhi AP Express, scheduled to depart Hyderabad at 06.25 AM on January 7 (Monday) is rescheduled to depart at 3 PM. High Court Judge Justice Eshwaraiah has observed that the country would develop further only when the juvenile delinquents, who committed crimes during adolescent age, were reformed. The society hinges on the welfare of the young generation, he added.

Justice Eshwaraiah was speaking after inaugurating an awareness seminar for police officials on “How to deal with juvenile delinquents” on the premises of Nampally Criminal Courts complex here on Saturday.

Telangana Political JAC convener Prof. Kodandaram today made it clear that they would not accept regional council or packages and want nothing short of Telangana State.

Owaisi speech could be referred to ethics committee: AP Speaker

Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Friday said the “hate speech” by Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi could be referred to the Ethics Committee of the House.

“This is an issue concerning ethical conduct of a legislator. Members are expected to act with restraint, responsibility and dignity,” the Speaker told reporters here when the issue of Akbar’s last month’s controversial speech in Adilabad district came up.

Assault case against Ramanaidu’s grandson

The Banjara Hills police have booked a case against Abhinay, grandson of Tollywood producer Ramanaidu for assaulting a private contractor, here on Friday.

According to ACP Ravi Teja, Abhinay had asked the contractor not to cause noise at a construction site. But, when the noise exceeded tolerable limit, an enraged Abhinay manhandled the contractor, the ACP added.

He also made it clear that he was not talking on the issue as Congress president Sonia Gandhi wanted every one to keep silent on the sensitive issue till a decision was announced.

Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar has clarified that there was no need for his permission to arrest MIM Floor leader and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, who was facing several criminal cases for delivering hate speeches at public meetings in Nirmal town of Adilabad district recently.

Interacting with media persons at Assembly Committee Hall on Friday, Manohar said the Speaker would intervene only when a member was being obstructed from attending the House when it was in session. He said the Speaker’s interference depends on the nature of the case.
