TPJAC to target Congress

Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodanda Ram has warned that the statehood agitation would be intensified targeting the Congress party.

“We will block the Vijayawada and Kurnool highways to show our protest against the delay in the decision on Telangana,” he said. “We will target Congress leaders and see to it that they cannot move around in their constituencies as they failed to convince the high command on the issue,” he said.

The action plan of JAC will be to target Congress, he said.

We’ll demolish congress Govt. and achieve T: Etela

TRS floor leader in the Assembly Etela Rajendar has said the days are numbered for the collapse of the Congress government and party in the region. He also declared that they would pull down the government and achieve the goal of separate Telangana State in the near future.

25 held in resort near Chevela for erotic scenes

A police party raided a pleasure jaunt in Earlapally village under Chevella mandal of Ranga Reddy district on Friday evening and took some 25 youths, including 15 women into custody.

According to the delayed information, on a tip-off, the police raided the resort and found 15 women and several youths indulging in erotic dances. While the cops managed to grab 25, several others took to their heels. There are also allegations that anti-social activities were going on in the resort for some time.

Cops teargas students on Osmania campus

The Osmania University campus on Sunday turned tense when the police opened tear gas shells at the students, who tried to take out a bike rally in support of the Telangana political JAC’s ‘Samara Deeksha’ at Indira Park. In the melee, a student received head injuries when he was hit by a stone.

More consultations needed to resolve T-issue: Azad

The Congress party needs more time to resolve the Telangana issue as it needs to hold further consultation over the Telangana issue.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Sunday condemned the statement given by Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad stating that more time was needed to hold consultations over Telangana issue.

Talking to reporters at Indira Park while participating in the Samara Deeksha programme, TRS MLA T Harish Rao said that Azad’s statement was not surprising as he has already defined “one week, doesn’t mean seven days.” However, he said Azad’s statement has proved that the Congress party has once again betrayed the Telangana.

No role in MIM leaders’ arrest, says Andhra CM

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy Wednesday said the government has nothing to do with the arrest of MIM leaders — Akbaruddin and Asaduddin Owaisi.

The chief minister said law would take its own course if anybody violates law or try to provoke and divide people.

He was addressing a public meeting at Narsapur in Medak district, not far from Sangareddy town in the same district where Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi was Monday sent to jail in a seven-year-old case of rioting and manhandling an official.

TRS reacts angrily to Azad’s statement on Telangana statehood

Reacting to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad’s recent statement that a decision on the Telangana statehood issue would not be taken in a hurry, Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhar Rao remarked that “We expected a statement from Azad beforehand”.

In a telephonic message to reporters late tonight, Rao, popularly known as KCR, recalled that they had termed the all-party meeting convened by the union home minister on December 28 as a “futile exercise”.

Haj applications forms to be issued

The Haj application forms for ‘Haj- 2013’ will be issued at Nampally, AP State Haj Committee Office, and at the district Haj societies in the state at free of cost from February 6 to March 20. It is decided that this current year the applications would be received only from those applicants who have never performed Haj in their lifetime through the Haj committee.

Syed Khaleeluddin Ahmed, Chairman, AP Haj Committee, in a statement said that the applicants would have to submit an affidavit to this effect.

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member Palvai Goverdhan Reddy has said that he got confidence after meeting the AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi that the Telangana State would be a reality.

The Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has expressed confidence that the uncertainty over the Telangana issue would be over soon.

OUJAC students held for taking out rally

Several members of associated with the Osmania University Joint Action Committee were taken into custody by the City Police on Wednesday when they tried to take out a rally.

The OUJAC members took out the rally in support of “Telangana Vidyardthi Maha Pradarshana” to be held at Indira Park on January 28. However, the police stopped the rally at Secunderabad Clock Tower and took several students into custody.

‘T’ Movement will take serious turn if Telangana denied:: Harish

Competitive market, films and Vishwaroopam

Gone are the days of healthy competition in film market. Though it has been cut-throat, there was a line the producers and distributors used to trek in earlier days.

Now the line has been wafer thin and many times erased with the sole intention of one-upmanship.

No hike in RTC fares: A K Khan

RTC Managing Director AK Khan said that there was no proposal to increase the bus fares for now.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, he scoffed off the rumours that there would be steep hike in bus charges in wake of the increase in diesel charges. We are trying to explore alternative sources of income to compensate the additional expenditure we will be incurring due to the increase in diesel prices, he said.

RTC has to pay Rs 11.29 more per litre according to the revised rates and we will come out with some alternative instead of passing on the hike to customers, he said.

A local court in Nirmal today given MIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi into five-day police custody.

Akbar’s lawyer Balraj objected the contention of Nirmal police which sought Akbar’s custody for further investigation.

He argued that the speech was made in a public meeting and therefore, police custody for the MIM MLA was not required.

Akbar files petition for special status prisioner in jail

The petition filed by the police in Nirmal Court for taking MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi into their custody for seven days for further questioning has been posted for hearing on Friday.

The MIM legislator has been arrested and remanded to 14 days judicial custody by the Nirmal Court in Adilabad district on Wednesday, for his alleged hate speech made last month. As many as seven sections under IPC including sedition charges have been clamped on Akbaruddin.

A top Maoist leader carrying a reward of Rs seven lakh on his head has been arrested from the outskirts of Ranchi, police said today.

The arrested Maoist leader has been identified as Prabhat Mochi.

Prabhat, the general secretary of the Koel-Sankh Zone of the CPI (Maoist), was nabbed yesterday, police said.
