Minors arrested for sending obscene SMS

The IT revolution, apart from taking man in giant strides towards development, is also causing damage to the morals of youngsters. Even minors are resorting to heinous crimes, the latest being a minor boy getting involved in a ghastly rape and murder in Delhi.

In another instance of defacement of moral character, a minor boy studying Class X in the ZP school at Kunteru village in West Godavari district shot a girl of the same class in an obscene posture. He sent this SMS to his friends on blue tooth.

Long term restraint on newspapers unreasonable: Katju to Omar Abdullah

PCI chairperson Markandey Katju has written to J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah saying a short term restraint order on publication of newspapers may be justified in the wake of Afzal Guru’s execution, but will be unreasonable if it goes on for a long time.

Omar in his reply told Katju that the state had imposed no restrictions on publications of newspapers, but added that there had been difficulties because of restrictions imposed on movement which may soon be resolved.

Judge files plaint against court staffer for tampering records

A civil court judge has filed a criminal complaint against a clerk for allegedly tampering with the court records, police said today.

“Principal junior civil judge Ramakrishna filed the complaint against junior bench assistant Ramanayya for allegedly forging his signatures on some court orders”, said an officer attached to Rayachoty town station.

According to the complaint, Ramanayya, who was transferred in November last, forged the judge’s signatures in as many as 23 cases.

Rajagopal bats for united state

Continuing his advocacy for an integrated State, Congress MP Lagadapati Rajagopal said that many people in Telangana too want an integrated state.

Rajagopal was on the North coastal Andhra tour to raise public opinion on Samaikhyanadhra. He began the Bus yatra from the airport and will tour the region to spread the message of an integrated state. People underwent huge losses due to frequent agitations in Telangana, he said.

Rajgopal has been the vocal face of Congress seeks an integrated state and the known detractor of TRS.

Israeli film festival in city

A four-day Israeli film festival will be held in city from February 14 to 17.

The festival, jointly organized by Film Club and Indo-Israel Chambers will be held at the LV Prasad Labs. Six new films will be screened during the festival, Director of Chambers Uday Sagar said here on Tuesday.

Bilateral relations will be strengthened through such festivals, he said. The films will be screened at 6.00 PM daily. Actor KL Prasad said that the city will be a plank for screening films of all countries.

Daylight murder of mother and daughter in Nellore murderers nabbed

In a stunning incident, three youngsters entered a house and murdered a mother and a child in this town on Tuesday. While they both died on the spot, the condition of the father is serious.

Locals caught and thrashed the attackers and handed them over to the police. Intiaz, Vamsi Krishna and Murali Majoj Kumar – the three accused are now being questioned by the police.

Congress cheating T from begining:Etela

TRS floor leader in the Assembly Etela Rajendar here on Tuesday alleged that the Congress has been cheating the people of the Telangana region from the beginning on formation of separate Telangana State.

Speaking to mediapersons here, Rajendar said Telangana State would come into being only after the Congress was buried in the region. He also warned the Telangana critics of dire consequences if they made rash remarks.

Father beaten up,MBA student kidnapped

One Sri Lata, an MBA student, was allegedly kidnapped by some unidentified persons in the neighboring Medak district on Tuesday.

According to the information, the girl was going to her college with her father on his two-wheeler when the miscreants, who came in a car, stopped them and kidnapped the girl after beating her father.

Sri Lata’s father complained about the kidnap at the BDL police station. He also said one Narender was harassing his daughter since some time in the name of marriage and expressed suspicion that it could be that person, who had kidnapped his daughter.

High court takes up RTI Commrs appointment issue

High Court has admitted the Public Interest Litigation filed challenging the appointment of Commissioners of the Right to Information Act, on Monday. The Court served notices to the State Government and posted the matter for next week. The Court made it clear that the Government actions will be subject to the directions of the Court. The Court asked the State Government to file counter within two weeks.

Police arrest man behind obscene SMSs

The North Zone task force police have today arrested one person named Kyatham Krishna, for allegedly sending obscene SMSs to popular personalities like Ministers and women MLAs.

Police said that Krishna had sent hundreds of SMSs with objectionable contents during the past some time.

It may be recalled that the Secunderabad MLA Jayasudha had filed a police complaint sometime back about her receiving obscene SMSs. Following this, the police registered a case and started investigation. The police identified Krishna as the culprit and arrested him today.

Huge haul of drugs in Shamshabad airport

Customs authorities arrested a passenger bound for Bangkok at Shamshabad airport and seized a large consignment of cocaine from him.

According to the information, Rashid was to have traveled by Malaysian Airlines on Sunday when the authorities found the contraband in his baggage. The authorities said Rashid was earlier also caught for the same offence and came out on bail.

The cocaine seized from the passenger is estimated to cost about Rs 5 crores in the drug market. This is stated to be the biggest haul in Hyderabad in recent times.

Venkaiah predicts early polls to Lok Sabha

BJP national leader M. Venkaiah Naidu has said he sees indications on early elections in the country. The people were looking at the BJP-led coalition as the best alternative to the ruling dispensation.

Akbar’s remand extended till Feb 12

The Nizamabad district court has extended the remand of MIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, arrested for his hate speech and jail in the Adilabad district jail, till February 12.

As Akbar’s remand expired in the case registered against him for the hate speech on Thursday, he was brought here from Adilabad amid tight security and produced before the district court. It may be recalled that Akbar against whom case was registered for his hate speech in Nirmal of Adilabad district, is also facing a similar case for another provocative speech in this district.
