ISRO to test-fly GSLV-Mark III, crew module on December 18

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday annonced that it will test-fly its heaviest and upgraded rocket – the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-Mark III) – on December 18 from Sriharikota space station, near Chennai.

According to a tweet by the Indian space agency, the 630-tonne rocket will be powered by liquid and solid fuel engines while the cryogenic stage/engine will be a passive one.

The rocket will also carry a crew module to test its re-entry characteristics.

Atal Bihari Vajpayee may be chosen for Bharat Ratna

Abu Dhabi-based Lulu Group plans to invest Rs 2,500 crore in Telangana

Abu Dhabi-based Lulu Group, a leading retail chain in the Middle East, plans to invest Rs 2,500 crore in Telangana in 2015, the state government said on Monday.

The Group’s Chairman, Yusuff Ali M A, said this when a delegation of Telangana government, represented by IT Minister K T Rama Rao and Industries Commissioner Jayesh Ranjan, called on him, a state government release said here.

The Group wishes to invest in three projects in Telangana – a fruit and vegetable processing unit, an integrated meat processing unit and a modern shopping mall in Hyderabad, it said.

Indian-owned software multinational Infosys on Monday confirmed that that one of its employees is among those taken hostage by an alleged gunman at the Lindt Cafe in Sydney.

“We can confirm that one Infosys employee is among the hostages at the Lindt Cafe in Sydney. We are also in the process of confirming the whereabouts of all our other employees in the city,” a statement by the company said.

Infosys further states that the family of the employee has been informed and that the company will extend all possible support to them during the crisis.

Tripper knocks down an engineering student

A 22 year old engineering student died after a speeding tipper moving toward KBR Park hits him down.

According to police T Gopi Krishna along with his friend Sriramulu was on his way to home on his motpor cycle, a speedy tipper rammed into their two wheeler from behind, throwing them out of the bike.

Gopikrishna sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to Osmania Hospital where he was declared brought dead. Sairamulu, reported to be undergoing treatment, Jubilee Hills Sub-Inspector S Guruswamy said. The driver of the tipper is on run after the incident.

7,629 cases of HIV-AIDS in Himachal Pradesh

There are 7,629 cases of HIV-AIDS in the state, Health and Family Welfare minister Kaul Singh Thakur informed the state assembly in a written reply today.

The state government was reimbursing the bus fare to the HIV-AIDS patients and one attendant to reach the Antiretroviral Therapy (ART) centre and back home.

Kaul Singh said the state government provides financial aid to the tune of Rs 300 to 800 per month to the children living with HIV-AIDS or to the children with one of the parents infected with HIV-AIDS.
