Taliban threatens activist for standing up against Red Mosque

Taliban have threatened aPakistan civil society activist for spearheading a protest movement against the cleric of Red Mosque here who had initially refused to condemn the Peshawar school massacre.

Maulana Abdul Aziz initially refused to speak against the horrible attack in Peshawar that killed 148 people, mostly children, resulting in protests outside the mosque in the heart of Islamabad.

Muhammad Jibran Nasir, one of the leaders of the protesters, said that he was threatened by Ehsanullah Ehsan, spokesman of Taliban splinter group Jamaatul Ahrar for leading the protests.

A Bangalore girl rescued from kidnappers

A 3 year old seriya from Bangalore was kidnapped 8 days ago, was recovered at Rajahmundry today.

According to police the accused is identified as grandfather of seriya, the accused was having a dispute over property with his son.

He planned of kidnapping his granddaughter and escaped to Rajahmundry, based on photage, police recovered the child.

HC orders removal of Tech Mahindra from ED case

Hyderabad High Court today ordered removal of Tech Mahindra from the charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate for money laundering against the erstwhile Satyam Computers Services Limited (SCSL) and its promoters.

The ED’s contention was that as Tech Mahindra acquired Satyam, it automatically became an accused. Tech Mahindra approached the High Court challenging this.

Justice Vilas Afzalpurkar today held that Tech Mahindra cannot be held responsible for the acts committed by SCSL before the acquisition.

Mysterious death of a city doctor in Malaysia

A28 years old, city doctor M Saidahiya working on Malaysia found dead mysteriously in his bed room.

According to police M Sadiah was working as a assistant doctor in an American Hospital in Kulua Lmapur. Siadiah father got a call saying that his son died in a fatal condition, but he grows suspicious as doctor informed him that he died on Friday night.

His father approach MLA’s and MP, and when he try to contact the hospital management, he did not get proper response.
Saidiah father said my son can’t suicide as he always keeps himself away from bad habits.

Muzaffarnagar: Man arrested for alleged desecration of temple

A person was arrested on Monday for allegedly desecrating a temple in Muzaffarnagar with the alleged intention to trigger communal disharmony, police said. The arrested person has been identified as Deshraj, District Magistrate Koshal Raj Sharma and SSP HN Singh told reporters.

Police recovered an idol and other goods of the temple at Parasoli village under Budhana police station in the district from the accused. Sharma and Singh claimed that Deshraj has confessed his crime and that he did this to trigger communal tension in the area.

Pak court rejects acquittal pleas of Zardari in 2 cases

In a jolt to former Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari, a court today rejected his acquittal pleas in two old cases of corruption.

Zardari was implicated in five cases in the 1990s by then government of Nawaz Sharif, who is also the present prime minister of Pakistan.

All the cases were linked to corruption when Zardari’s wife Benazir Bhutto was prime minister of the country.

He has already been declared innocent in the Polo Ground, ARY Gold and URSUS tractor cases.

Employee arrested at NIMS for stealing files

The Punjagutta police arrested V. Sridhar, financial controller of NIMS along with an attender Ravi Kumar for alleged theft of a file from the hospital records.

The police said that Sridhar was placed under suspension in May for alleged dereliction of duty. As an internal investigation was on, Sridhar took the help of an outsourced staff, Ravi Kumar, at the hospital to steal his personal service file.

A committee was constituted to enquire Sridhar’s role. “The committee submitted its report recently and the file was in the custody of HR Department.

Infosys to increase focus on North America, EMEA

NEW DELHI: Country’s second largest software services firm Infosys is increasing its focus on geographies like North America and EMEA region to drive growth of its core banking solution Finacle.

“Finacle has a dominant share in India. While we continue to invest in India, we are also making significant investments in markets like North America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa),” Infosys senior vice president and global head of Finacle Michael Reh told PTI.

Reh took over his new role as head of Finacle in October this year.

GoAir ups ante, offers discount on fares; lowest at Rs 1,469

The Wadia Group-promoted budget carrier GoAir today said it has put 1.7 million seats up for sale, offering fares as low as Rs 1,469 for travel next year with a five-day booking period starting today, to stimulate demand during the lean period.

The special offer is available on flights across the GoAir network for a travel period between January 1 and March 31, the airline said.

The bookings under the offer can be made between December 21 and December 25, it said.

Neither Govt, nor BJP involved in conversion: Naidu

Facing opposition attack over the conversion issue, Government today said in Lok Sabha that neither it nor the BJP was involved in such acts and the state governments should take action if anyone violates the law.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu insisted that the government does not support conversion or re-conversion.

Burdwa ncase NIA recovers 10 hand grenades

Ten hand grenades were recovered by NIA from near the house of Burdwan blast key accused Sahanur Alam in Assam’s Baksa district today.

Based on Sahanur’s confession, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) recovered the grenades near Rupohi river, about 500 metre from his house in Salbari sub-division, NIA sources said.

Sahanur, the alleged motivational trainer of terror group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), was arrested by Assam Police’s Special Operation Unit from his relative’s house in Nalbari district on December 6.

HIV+ woman stopped from cooking

An HIV positive woman employed as a cook in a government school in Himachal’s Kangra district was barred from cooking until an NGO persuaded the authorities to take her back.

“For three days I was not allowed to cook food for the students. It was really a humiliation for me. I’m still ostracised by my colleagues,” the victim told IANS over phone.

“It was only after an NGO took up the issue with the district administration and I was allowed yesterday (Thursday) to continue with my work,” she added.
