Cyber security sleuths have alerted e-banking users in the country against the infectious and destructive activity of a “worm” virus which attacks and steals personal login secrets and passwords of an individual.

The virus, of the deadly Trojan variant, has been identified and named as ‘Cridex’ and is considered notorious as it can assume as many as six aliases to perpetrate its activities.

Deputy CLP leader T Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, has offered his two-month pay to clear salary dues of the staff of historic Makkah Masjid and Royal Mosque at Public Garden.

In a letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Mr Ali expressed regret that the state has completely neglected the affairs of the Mecca Masjid and Royal Mosque. Though the staff at these two mosques had not got paid in the last three months, the state government has not released funds for their maintenance.

Forex kitty high, but may not cushion extreme volatility: RBI

RBI Deputy Governor H R Khan on Tuesday said though the country’s forex kitty was at an all time high of USD 330 billion, there should be no complacency as no amount of reserves may be enough to fight extreme volatility.

“Foreign currency reserves have improved. Right now we’re at USD 330 billion, highest ever. But there is also a view that no amount of foreign exchange reserves can cushion when there is extreme volatility or external shocks,” Khan said, days after weekly data showed an over USD 6 billion jump in forex to an all-time high.

Afzal Guru hanging “wrong and badly handled” Tharoor

Justice Rajeev Shakdher asked both governments to inform about the problem in providing the free publications to the accused for study.

The court also asked the government to inform it about the status of case of Ehtesham Qutubuddin Siddiqui, lodged in a Mumbai jail.

Indians rank 16th on leaked HSBC list; Swiss on top

With total funds of USD 4.1 billion, Indians rank 16th on the new leaked HSBC list of Swiss bank account holders from over 200 countries, while people from Switzerland itself are on the top.

The list, made public by an international body of journalists ICIJ (International Consortium of Investigative Journalists), comprises over one lakh HSBC customers and their bank accounts with balances totalling over USD 100 billion.

There are more than 19,000 clients not associated with any country, ICIJ said.

Srinagar-Muzaffarbad bus service suspended

The Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service was on Monday suspended by authorities in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir over arrest of a driver from the other side of the LoC following recovery of narcotics from his vehicle.

The Karvan-e-Aman (Peace Caravan) Bus service between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad has been suspended indefinitely, official sources said.

The sources said the decision was taken after PoK authorities conveyed their decision to suspended travel and trade along the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road till the issue regarding the arrest of their driver is resolved.

New emergency block at Niloufer may get completed in 2-3 months

Xi Plans to Make First Official Visit to US

Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to make his first official visit to the US later this year to push for “new model” of major-country relations, amid strong American Asia-Pacific military push, which officials here say is aimed at containing the communist country.

Arrangements are being made for Xi to pay his first state visit later this year to the United States, China’s ambassador to the US Cui Tiankai told state-run China Daily.

Church security: Congress questions silence of Christian BJP MLAs

Goa Congress today condemned the recent police action in Delhi against Christians who took to streets over attacks on churches, and questioned the silence of state BJP MLAs from the minority community over the issue.
