Social activist Teesta Setalvad on Saturday accused the NDA government at the Centre as one being run by RSS. She alleged that issues like “Sanskritisation” were part of a process to change India into a Hindu state.

“I believe the government at the Centre is run by RSS. It is an RSS government. You are confused, I am not confused at all,” she told reporters here. “Regardless of whatever has been stated in the name of development, the government agenda is run by RSS,” she added.

Many bodies still lie buried in Nepal’s Dolakha

The bodies of many of those buried in the rubble at Singati Bazar in Nepal’s Dolakha district — among the worst-affected in the devastating earthquake of April 25 and the May 12 temblor — are yet to be retrieved as recovery parties battle the elements to complete their task.

Locals said over 100 bodies were lying buried under the debris of fallen houses at Singati. Landslides continued to hit the area after the quake, making recovery of bodies difficult.

Dhaka-Guwahati bus service undergoes trial run

The direct bus service between Dhaka and Guwahati, which is likely to begin next month, is undergoing a trial run today with officials of different ministries onboard.

According to The Daily Star, officials will check the infrastructure on the route which is over 550-kilometers long.

India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran and Bangladesh’s Road Transport and Bridges Minster Obaidul Quader launched the trial service this afternoon.

Heat wave claims 30 lives in TS, warning issued for next 3 days

Oppressive heat wave condition prevailing across Telangana, claimed 12 lives in Telangana on Thursday, taking the overall toll to 30 in two days. The worst victims of sunstroke are the daily wage labourers, petty traders and people living on streets.

Heat wave conditions have been sweeping the state the past two days with all ten districts recording day temperatures of at least 42 degrees Celsius.

Nizamabad, Nalgonda and Ramagundem sizzled at 46 degrees, Adilabad recorded 45 degrees. The maximum temperature in Mahabubnagar was 44 degrees while Hyderabad registered 43 degrees Celsius.

Astronomers discover most luminous galaxy in universe

US space agency NASA said on Thursday that its Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) telescope has discovered a remote galaxy that shines with the light of more than 300 trillion suns, making it the most luminous galaxy ever found.

The galaxy, known as WISE J224607.57-052635.0, belongs to a recently discovered new class of objects called extremely luminous infrared galaxies. NASA said its dazzling light may be due to a behemoth black hole at its belly, according to Xinhua.

30% of school student in Uk feels ‘Muslims are taking over our country’

A survey of almost 6,000 children aged 10 to 16 by charity Show Racism the Red Card (SRTRC) found that negative attitudes towards migrants and Muslims were widespread among school pupils in the UK.

The data, based on questionnaires sent to more than 60 schools across the UK, also found that 60 per cent of children questioned believed that “Muslims are taking over our country”. The Muslim population in schools is a much higher percentage than in the general population, because of their high birth rate, says Ged Grabby.

AIIMS surgeons remove world’s largest kidney tumour weighing 5.018 kg

In what is claimed to be the first such case in the world, Indian surgeons have removed a kidney tumour weighing 5.018 kg from a patient suffering from kidney cancer along with dissection of the lungs.

“The patient’s right kidney had bloated 35 times the normal size making it the world’s biggest ever kidney tumour on record as per the medical literature. The previous record was removal of a 2.5kg (5.5lb) tumour by doctors at Sir Gangaram hospital,” said Dr M D Ray, consultant at department of surgical oncology, AIIMS.

AP demands quota for its student in NIT warangal

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States have got one more issue and landed in the Centre’s court here on Tuesday, as AP demanded 50 per cent quota for the AP students in NIT Warangal. Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana Kadiyam Srihari has urged the Centre not to bend the rules under pressure from the AP government.

Srihari, who called the Secretary of the HRD here on Tuesday, made it clear that, the Andhra Pradesh students were not entitled to any quota in the NIT as was the case with the students from Telangana State in respect of other NITs.

Tank bund road to be closed for traffic

Traffic is set to curb for at least 15 days as the HMWS&SB is set to block the arterial Tank Bund Road for laying a pipeline near Saidaniamma’s tomb.

“Though we have not decided the exact date, we need to dig up the road, which will require atleast 15 days. During that period, traffic will have to be diverted,” said a HMWS&SB official.

Once the pipeline is laid, untreated sewerage water from Kukatpally and Balanagar area will be released into the Kalasiguda nala instead of Husainsagar lake from July this year.

Firing at ATM centre; woman robbed of jewellery, cellphone

A woman was robbed of her gold jewellery, cellphone and ATM card by an unidentified person after he terrorised her by firing inside an ATM in Yosufguda in Hyderabad this morning, police said.

According to locals, Indira of Ambedkarnagar colony went to a neighouring village after locking up the house. Sensing an opportunity, a mischievous thief, Bhargav, tried to sneak into the house.

HC seeks Pachauri’s response on plea to cancel his bail

The Delhi High Court today sought the response of TERI Director General R K Pachauri on a woman’s plea seeking cancellation of the anticipatory bail granted to him by a lower court in a case of alleged sexual harassment.

Justice Sunita Gupta also issued notice to Delhi Police asking it to file a status report on an appeal by the 29-year -old female research analyst, who has alleged that “free and fair investigation” cannot be carried out if Pachauri was “allowed to roam around freely”.

150 mini tank bunds to be build in 119 Assembly constituencies
